Secure and positio nthe load as described in
the loadin gguidelines.
Otherwise, vehicle occupant scould
be injured by the load being thr own around in
the even tofsharpbraking, asudden change
in direction or an accident.
You will find further information in the "Secur-
ing aload" section.
Even if you follow all the loadin gguidelines,
the load will increase the risk of injur yinthe
even tofa naccide nt. G
Risk of poisoning
Keep the boo tlid closed while the vehicle is
in operation .Otherwi se,y ou could be pois-
one dbye xhaust fumes enterin gthe vehicle.
Th eh andling character istics of aladen vehi-
cl ea re dependent on the distributio nofthe
load withi nthe vehicle. For this reason, you
should observe the followin gnotes when
transpor ting aload:
R When transpor ting aload, never exceed the
maximum permissible gross vehicle weight
or the permissible axle loads for the vehicle
(includin goccupants).
R Position heavy loads as far forward saspos-
sible and as low down in the boot as pos-
sible.
R The load must not protrude abov ethe
upper edge of the seat backrests. R
always plac ethe load against the rea ror
front seat backrests .Make sure that the
seat backrests are securely locked into
place.
R Always place the load behind unoccupied
seats if possible.
R Secure the load with sufficiently stron gand
wear-resistant lashing material. Pad sharp
edges for protection.
i Load restraints are available at any quali-
fied specialis tworkshop, e.g. aMercedes-
Benz Servic eCentre. Stowage compartments

Tyr
ep ressures that are too lo whave anega-
tiv ee ffect on vehicl esafety, which could lead
to your causing an accident.
If possible, you should only correc ttyre pres-
sures when the tyres are cold. Depending on
the ambien ttemperature, the speed you are
driving at and the load on the tyres, the tyre
temperatur eand thus the tyre pressure may
chang ebyapproximately 10 kPa (0. 1bar,
1.5 psi) per 10 †. Take this int oaccount
whe ncheckin gthe pressur eofwarm tyres
and only correct it if it is too low for the cur-
rent operating conditions.
Driving with tyre pressure that is too high or
too low can:
R shorten the servic elife of the tyres
R cause increased tyre damage
R have anegativ eeffect on handling charac-
teristi csand thus the driving safet y(e.g. by
causing aquapla ning)
i The tyr epressure values given for low
load sare minimum values which offe ryou
good rid ecomfor tcharacteristics.
However ,you can also use the values given
for higher loads. These ar epermissible and
will not adversely affect the running of the
vehicle. H
Environmenta
lnote
Check the tyre pressure regularly, at least
every 14 days. Tyr
epressure loss warning
Important safety notes Whil
ethe vehicle is in motion, the tyr epres-
sure loss warning system monitors th eset
tyr ep ressure using th erotational speed of
the wheels. This enables the system to detect
significant pressure loss in atyre. If the speed
of rotation of awheel changes as aresult of
al oss of pressure, acorrespondin gwarning
message will appea rinthe multifunction dis-
play. G
Risk of accident
The tyr epressure loss warning system does
not warn you of an incorrectly se ttyre pres-
sure. The table on the insid eofthe fuel filler
fla pw ill help you decide whether the tyre
pressures should be corrected.
The tyre pressure loss warnin gsystem does
not replace the need to regularly check your
vehicle's tyre pressures, since an even loss of
pressure on several tyres at the same time
cannot be detecte dbythe tyr epressure loss
warning system.
Th et yre pressure monitor is not able to warn
you of asudden loss of pressure, e.g. if the
tyre is penetrated by aforeign objec t.
In the event of asudden loss of pressure, bring
the vehicle to ahalt by braking carefully. Do
not make any sudden steering movements
when doing so.
The function of the tyre pressure loss warning
system is limited or delayed if:
R snow chains are fitted to your vehicle's
tyres.
R road conditions are wintry.
R you are driving on sand or gravel.
R you adopt avery sporty driving style (cor-
nering at high speeds or driving with high
rates of acceleration).
R you are towin gavery heavy or large trailer.
R you are driving with aheavy load (in the
vehicle or on the roof).
Resta rting the ty re pressur eloss warn-
ing system Restart the tyre pressure loss warnin
gsystem
if you have:
R changed the tyre pressure
R changed the wheels or tyres
R fitted new wheels or tyres
X Before restarting, consult the table of tyre
pressures on the insid eofthe fuel filler flap
to ensur ethat the tyr epressure in all four Tyre pressures

For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that yo
uonly use wheel bolts of the
correct size which hav ebeena pproved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

On vehicles that have the same size front and
rear wheels, you can interchange the wheels
every 500 0kmto10,000 km depending on
the degre eoftyre wear. Do not reverse the
direction of tyre rotation.

ginmind
! For safety reasons, Mercedes-Ben zrec-
ommends that you only use tyres, wheels
and accessories which have been approved
by Mercedes-Ben zspecifically for your
vehicle. These tyres have been specially
adapted for use with the contro lsystems,
such as AB SorESP®
,a nd are marked as
follows:
R MO =Mercedes-Ben zOriginal
R MOE =Mercedes-Ben zOriginal Extended
(tyres with run-flat characteristics)
R MO1 =Mercedes-Ben zOriginal (AMG)
Only use Mercedes-Benz Original Extended
tyres on wheels that have been specifically
approved by Mercedes-Benz.
If you use other tyres, wheels and acces-
sories, Mercedes-Benz cannot accept any
responsibility for damage that may result
from this. Further informat ionabout tyres,
wheels and approved combinations can be obtained from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
! If you fit tyres other than those tested and
recommended by Mercedes-Benz, charac-
teristics such as handling, noise levels and
fuel consumption, etc. may be adversely
affected. In addition, when driving with a
load, tyre dimensional variations could
caus ethe tyres to com einto contact with
the bod ywork and axle components. This
could result in dam agetot he tyres or the
vehicle.
i Further information about tyres and
wheels can be obtained from any
Mercedes-Benz Servic eCentre.
i You will fin datable of tyre pressures on
the insid eofyourv ehicle' sfuel filler flap.
For further information on tyre pressure,
see (Y page 299).
i Notes on the vehicle equipment:
Always fit the vehicle:
R with tyres of the same size on agiven axle
(left/right)
R with the same type of tyres at agiven
time (summer tyres, winter tyres,
MOExtended tyres)
i Vehicles featurin gthe MOExtended run-
fla ts ystem are not equipped with the
TIREFIT kit.
It is therefore recommended that you addi-
tionally equip your vehicle with the TIREFIT
kit if you fit tyres that do not feature run-
flat properties, e.g. winter tyres.
AT IREFIT kit is availa blef rom any qu alified
specialist workshop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz
Ser vice Centre. Wheel and tyr

Mercedes-Ben ztests genuin eparts and con-
version parts and accessories which have
been specifically approved for your vehicle for
their reliability, safety and suitability. Despite
ongoing market research, Mercedes -Benz is
unabl etoe valuate othe rparts. Mercedes-
Ben ztherefore accepts no responsibility for
the use of such parts in Mercedes-Ben zvehi-
cles, even if they have been independently or
officially approved.
In Germany and some other coun tries, certain
parts are only officially approved for installa-
tion or modification if they comply with legal
requirements. All genuine Mercedes-Benz
parts meet this requirement .The use of non-
approved parts ma yinvalidat ethe vehicle's
general operating permit. This is the case if: R
they cause achange of the vehicle type
from that for whic hthe vehicle' sgeneral
operating permit was granted.
R other road users could be endangered.
R the emission or noise levels are adversely
affected
The use of non-approved part scould affect
your vehicle' soperating safety .Therefore,
Mercedes-Ben zrecom mends genuine
Mercedes-Ben zparts and conversion parts
and accessories that have been approved for
your vehicle. H
Environmental note
Daimler AG also supplies reconditioned
assemblies and parts which are of the same
quality as new parts. For these, the same war-
rant yapplies as for new parts.
