PLUS (anticipa‐
to ry occupant pr otection plus) PRE-
SAFE®
PLUS can de tect cer tain impacts,
particular lyan imminent rear impact, and take
pre-em ptive measures toprotect theve hicle
occupants. These measures cannot necessarily
pr eve nt an imminent impact.
PRE-SAFE ®
PLUS can implement thefo llowing
measures independently of each other:
R Tightening the seat belts on the driver's seat
and front passenger seat.
R Activating there ar hazard warning lights at a
higher flashing frequenc y. R
Increasing brake pressure when theve hicle
is stationar y.This brake application is cancel‐
led automatically when theve hicle pulls
aw ay.
If an accident did not occur, the pre-em ptive
measures that we retake n are reve rsed.
PRE-SAFE ®
PLUS sy stem limitations
R No me asures are implemented:
- Ifth eve hicle is reve rsing.
or
- When theve hicle is towing a trailer and
th ere is a risk of a rear impact.
R The brakes are not applied:
- Whilst driving.
or
- When entering or exiting a parking space

Soft

WARNING Risk of becoming trapped

If yo u do not fully open/close the soft top,
th e soft-to phy draulics depressurise af ter a
short time.
This causes the soft topto lowe r unexpect‐
edly and may cause you or others tobe trap‐
ped. #
Alw ays fully open or close the soft top. &
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped
when opening/closing the soft top .
When opening or closing the soft top, there
is a risk that parts of the body could become
trapped bymoving parts such as thero of
mechanism, the boot lid, or the side win‐
do ws. #
When opening or closing, make sure
that no body parts are in the vicinity of
moving components. #
Release the button if somebody
becomes trapped. *

Make sure that the boot separator is closed. #
Close the boot lid. #
Switch the ignition on. #

When the main beam is activated, the indicator
lamp for dipped beam is deactivated and
re placed bythe indicator lamp forth e main
beam. #
Toswitch off the main beam: movethe
combination switch ba cktoits starting posi‐

Toindicate briefl y:press the combination
switch briefly up tothe pressure point in the
direction of ar row2or4.
The cor responding turn signal light flashes
th re e times. #
Toindicate permanentl y:press the combi‐
nation switch be yond the pressure point in

The hazard warning light switches on automati‐
cally if:
R The airbag has been deplo yed.
R The vehicle brakes sharply from a speed of

R You open or close the soft top.
R An automatic engine start is necessar y.
If th e engine was switched off bythe ECO start/
st op function and you lea vetheve hicle, a warn‐
ing tone sounds. The Vehicle is operational

R The seat belt tongue is not inser ted in the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat and the
driver's door is opened.
% Toprev ent application: pull the handle of the
electric parking brake.
In thefo llowing situations, the electric parking
brake is also engaged:
R Distance Pilot DISTRONIC brings theve hicle
to ast andstill.
R The HOLD function is keeping theve hicle sta‐
tionar y.
R Parking Pilot is keeping theve hicle station‐
ar y. This is only
the case if one of thefo llowing con‐
ditions is also fulfilled:
R The engine is switched off.
R The seat belt tongue is not inser ted in the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat and the
driver's door is opened.
R There is a sy stem malfunction.
R The po wer supply is insuf ficient.
R The vehicle is stationary for a lengt hyperiod.
When the electric parking brake is applied,
th e! indicator lamp lights up in the instru‐
ment clus ter.
The electric parking brake is not automatically
applied if the engine is switched off bythe ECO
st art/ stop function.
Re leasing the electric pa rking brake auto‐
matically
The elect ric pa rking brake is released when the
fo llowing conditions are fulfilled:
R The engine is running.
R The seat belt tongue is inser ted into the seat
belt buckle of the driver's seat. 16 4
