tting an ISOFIX or i‑Size child restra int sys‐
te m on the rear seat &
WARNING Risk of accident if there ar
ben chseat, rear seat and seat backrest
are not engaged
The rear ben chseat, rear seat and seat back‐
re st may fold forw ards, even while theve hi‐
cle is in motion.
R As a result, theve hicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
fo rc e. The seat belt will not be able to
pr otect as intended and could cause
additional injur y.
R Objects or loads in the boot or load com‐
partment cann otbe restra ined bythe
seat backrest. #
Make sure that there ar ben chseat, the
re ar seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before everytrip. If
th e left and right seat backrests are not
engaged and loc ked in place, this will be shown on
the multifunction display on the instrument
clus ter. &
WARNING Risk of inju ryor death if the
permissible gross mass of thech ild and
ch ild restra int sy stem is exceeded.
To o much load may be placed on the ISOFIX
or i‑Size child restra int sy stems and thech ild
may not be restra ined cor rectly in theeve nt

use on lyan ISOFIX or i‑Size child

seat and a category I rear wa rd-facing
ch ild restra int sy stem on a rear seat:

ch ild restra int sy stem: remo vethe head
re stra int from there spective seat, if possi‐
ble. Af
terth ech ild restra int sy stem has been
re mo ved, replace the head restra ints again
immediately and adjust them cor rectly.

category II or III, there may be restrictions
on the maximum size setting, e.g. due to

cushion and/or be fitted facing the wrong
direction. Where possible, adjust the seat
cushion inclination accordingly.
O The
child restra int sy stem must not be put
under stra in by the head restra int. Adjust
th e head restra ints as appropriate.
O Make sure
that thech ild's feet do not touch
th e front seat. If necessar y,mo vethe front
seat slightly forw ards.
% Before opening or closing the soft top, child
re stra int sy stems in weight category II or III must be
remo ved or the head restra ints of
th ech ild restra int sy stems must be mo ved
to the lo west position. In this case, let the

The entire base of thech ild restra int sy stem

Alw ays make sure that the shoulder belt
st ra p is cor rectly routed from the seat belt
outlet of theve hicle tothe shoulder belt

The shoulder belt stra p must be routed for‐

is enabled
If yo u secure a child in a rear wa rd-facing
ch ild restra int sy stem on the front passenger
seat and thePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indi‐
cator lamp is off, the front passenger airbag
can deploy in theev ent of an accident.
The child could be stru ck bythe airbag.
Alw ays ensure that the front passenger air‐
bag is disabled. The PASSENGER AIR BAG
OFF indicator lamp must be lit.
NEVER use a rear wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem on a seat with an ENABLED FRONT
AIRB AG; DEAT H or SERIOUS INJU RYtothe
CH ILD can occur. 66

R Ifth ePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp is off, the front passenger airbag is ena‐
bled. The front passenger airbag may deploy
during an accident.

If head restra ints ha venot been ins talled or
ha ve not been adjus ted cor rectly, there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in theev ent of an accident or when

Alw ays drive with the head restra ints
fi tted. #
Before driving off, ma kesure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the cent reofthe
head restra int supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. Do not inter
change the head restra ints of the
front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able toadjust the height and angle of the head

The seat belt does not of ferth e intended
