X Insert the hex-socket wrench into the roof
lock.
X Turn the hex-socket wrench anti-clockwise
0079 as far as possible.
X Have the soft-top mechanism repaired
immediately at aqualified specialist work-
shop, e.g. aMercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
i Press the soft-top compartment cover
again if the boot lid cannot be opened.
! Do not under any circumstances open the
boot lid with the emergenc ykey. You could
otherwise damage the boot lid and the soft-
top compartment cover. Boot
! The boot lid swings upwards when
opened. Therefore, make sure that there is
sufficient clearance above the boot lid.
If the boot can no longer be unlocked with the
key or KEYLESS GO*:
X Remove the emergenc ykey element from
the key (Y page 249). X
Insert the emergenc ykey element into the
boot lid lock as far as the stop.
X Turn the emergenc ykey element anti-
clockwise as far as it will go to position
004A and pull the boot lid handle.
The boot is unlocked.
X Turn the emergenc ykey element back and
remove it. Releasing the parking lock manually
(vehicles with automatic transmis-
sion*)
In the event of an electrical fault, it is possible
to release the selector lever lock manually to
move it out of position P,e.g. if you wish to
tow the vehicle away. X
Depress the parking brake firmly.
X Prise out selector lever gaiter 0046with aflat,
blunt object ,(e. g. ascrewdriver wrapped Locking/unlocking in an emergency

Replacing the wiper blades

The windscreen will not longer be wiped prop-
erl yift he wiper blades are worn. Thi scould
prevent yo ufrom observing the traffic condi-
tions ,thereby causing an accident. Replace
the wiper blades twice ayear, ideall yinspring
and autumn. G

The wiper arm scould star tmoving and cause
an injury if yo uleave the windscreen wipers
switched on.
Remove the key from the ignition lock before
replacing the wiper blades.
! To avoid damaging the windscreen wiper
blades, make sure that yo utouch only the
wiper arm of the windscreen wiper. To remove
X Remove the key from the ignition lock or
turn the key to position 0(KEYLESS-GO).
X Fol dthe wiper arm away from the wind-
screen unti litengages.
X Set the wiper blad eatright angle stothe
wiper arm. X
Remove the wiper blad efrom the retainer
on the wiper arm in the direction of the
arrow. Fitting
X Slide the new wiper blad einto the retainer
on the wiper arm in the opposite direction
to the arrow.
X Turn the wiper blad eparalle ltot he wiper
arm.

X Vehicles with manual transmission:
engage firs torreverse gear.
X Vehicles with automati ctransmis-
sion*: move the selector lever to P.
X All occupants mus tget ou tofthe vehicle.
Make sure that they are not endangered as
they get ou tofthe vehicle.
X Make sure that no one is nea rthe danger
are aw hilst awheel is being changed .Any-
one wh oisnot directl yassisting in the
wheel change should, for example, stand
behind the barrier.

Risk of accident
In the following case syoursafety is especially
endangered, as tyre sealant is insufficient if:
R there are cuts or puncture sinthe tyre
greater than 4mm.
R the wheel rim is damaged.
R youh aved riven at very low tyre pressures
or on aflatt yre.
Do not drive any further. Consul taqualified
specialist worksho pwhich ha sthe necessary
specialist knowledg eand tool stocarryo ut
the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommend sthat yo uuse a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose. In particular, work relevant to safety or
on safety-related systems mus tbec arrie dout
at aq uali fied specialist workshop.
X Do not remove any foreign objects which
have penetrated the tyre ,e.g. screw sor
nails.
X Remove the TIREFIT kit, the accompanying
"max. 80 km/h "sticke rand the electri cair
pump from the stowag ewellu nderneath the luggage compartment floor
(Y
page 207). X
Affix part 0046of the sticke rwithin the driv-
er's field of vision.
X Affix part 0047of the sticke rnearthe valve
on the wheel with the defectiv etyre. G
Risk of injury
TIREFIT mus tnot come into contact with your
skin, eyes or clothing.
R If TIREFIT come sinto contact with your
eyes or skin, immediatel yrinse thoroughly
with clean water.
R Change ou tofclothing which ha scome into
contact with TIREFIT immediately.
R If an allergi creaction occurs, consult adoc-
tor immediately.
Kee pTIREFIT away from children.
R If TIREFIT is swallowed, immediatel yrinse

pump to I.
The electri cairpump is switched on. The
tyr eisi nflated.
i First, TIREFIT is pumpe dinto the tyre. The
pressure can briefl yrisetoa round 5bar.
Do no tswitcho ff the electric pump dur-

X Let the electri cpum prun for fiv eminutes.
The tyr eshoul dthen have apressure of at
leas t1.8 bar.
! Do not operate the electri cairpump for
longer tha neight minutes at atime without
ab reak. It ma yotherwise overheat.
The ai rpum pcan be operated agai nonce
it ha scooled down.
If ap ressure of 1.8 bar is no treached
afte rfivem inutes:
X Switch off and disconnect the electri cair
pump and drive the vehicl eforwards or
backwards approximatel y10m.
Thi sd istributes the TIREFIT more evenly.
X Remove TIREFIT sealant fille rbottle 0046
from the electri cpum p.
X Pump up the tyr eagain. G

! Always disconnect th ebattery in the
order described below. Never mix up the
terminal clam pdisconnection/connection
order and never mix up th eterminal
clamps. You may otherwise damag ethe

vehicles wit hautomatic transmission*,
shift th etransmission to position P.
X Switc hoff all electrical consumer s(e.g.
radio, blower, etc.).
X Turn th ekeyto0(Y page 65 )inthe ignition
lock and remove it or make sure tha tno
ignition positio nhasbeen selecte dwith
KEYLESS GO *.In the instrument cluster, all
of the indicator lampsm ust be out.
X Open the bonnet. X
Release clamps 0047on filter box 0046.
X Remove filter box 0046.
X Remove the negative terminal clamp from
the battery.
X Remove the cover from the positive termi-
nal clamp.
X Remove the positive terminal clamp from
the battery.
X Disconnect the breather hose. Removing the battery
X Disconnect the battery ( Ypage 275).
X Loosen the bolt which holds the battery in
place.
X Remove the battery. Charging and fitting the battery

Battery acid is caustic. Avoid contact with the
skin, eyesorc lothing.

Only charge the battery in awell-ventilated

ter do not work when the engine is not run-
ning .Greate rbraking force will the nbe
required and brake peda ltravel will be longer.

Before towing away ,makes uret ha tthe steer-
ing can be moved and is not locked.
If yo utow or tow-start anothe rvehicle, its
weight must not exceed the maximum per-

or DISTRONI CPLUS* is activated .Therefore,
deactivate HOLD and DISTRONI CPLUSift he

in al lcountrie sconcerned.
! When towing ,pulla wa yslowly and
smoothly. If the tractiv epower is too high,
the vehicles could be damaged.
! Do not us ethe towing ey efor recovery,
as thi scould damage the vehicle. If in
doubt, recover the vehicl ewithac rane.
! Youm aytow the vehicl efor am aximum
of 50 km. Atowing spee dof50k m/h must
not be exceeded.
For towing distances ove r50km, the entire
vehicl emustbel ifted up and transported. !
On vehicles with KEYLESS-GO *, usethe
key instea dofthe Start/Stop button. Turn
the key to position 2in the ignition lock and
shift the automatic transmission to N.Then
tur nthe key back to 0and leav eitinthe
ignition lock.
! Onlysecur ethe tow cable or towing bar
to the towing eyes .You could otherwise
damage the vehicle.
R Vehicle swithana utomatic transmission*
must not be tow-started.
R If yo uaretowing the vehicl eoveral onger
