The integrated filter can filter out most
particles of dust and completely filters out
pollen. Aclogged filter reduces the amount
of air supplied to the vehicle interior. For
this reason, you should alway sobserve the
interval for replacing the filter, which is
specified in the Servic eBooklet .Asit
depends on environmental conditions, e.g.
heavy air pollution, the interval may be
shorter than stated in the Servic eBooklet. G
Risk of accident
Observe the settings recommended on the
following pages. Otherwise, the windows
could mist up. This may obstruct your view of
the traffic situation and, as aresult, you may
cause an accident. Overview of air-conditioning system functions

tonsc ome on.
R set the temperature to 22 †.
R only use the "demisting" function briefly,
until the windscreen is clear again.

X To open: press the fuel filler flap in the
direction of arrow 0046.
The fuel filler flap opens slightly.
X Open the fuel filler flap.
X Turn the fuel filler cap anti-clockwise and
remove it.
X Insert the fuel filler cap into the holder
bracket on the inside of filler flap 0047.
X Only fill the tank until the pump nozzle
switches off.
! Overfilling the fuel tank could damage the
fuel system.
X To close: replace the fuel filler cap and turn
it clockwise. The fuel filler cap audibly
engages.
X Close the fuel filler flap. Petrol (EN 228)
! Refuel using only unleaded, sulphur-free
premium grade petrol with aminimum
octan enumber of 95 RON/85 MON con-
formin gtoEuropean standard EN 228.
Otherwise, you could impair engine output
or damage the engine. i
Asatemporary measure, only when the
recommended fuel is not available, you
may also use regular unleaded petrol,
91 RON/82. 5MON. This may reduce
engine performance and increase fuel con-
sumption. Avoid driving at full throttle.
In some countries, the fuel grade available
may not be adequate and could cause cok-
ing around the inlet valve. In such cases,
and in consultation with aMercedes-Benz
Servic eCentre, the petrol may be mixed
with the additive recommended by
Mercedes-Benz (part no.
A000989254510). You must observe the
notes and mixing ratios specified on the
container.
Further information on "Fuel" (Y page 287). Diese

Risk of fire
Do not use petrol to refuel vehicles with adie-
sel engine. Do not mix diesel with petrol. This
would result in damage to the fuel system and
engine, which could lead to avehicle fire.
! Refuel using only diesel which conforms
to European standard EN 590 or German
standard DIN 51628. Otherwise, you could
impair engine output or damage the engine.
! When refuelling vehicles with adiesel par-
ticulate filter in countries outside the EU,
only low-sulphur Euro diesel with less than
0.005 percent sulphur content by weight
(50 ppm) should be used.
! In countries in which diesel with ahigher
sulphur content is available, the engine oil
should be renewed at more frequent inter-
vals. More information about intervals for
changin gthe engine oil can be obtained
from any Mercedes-Benz Servic eCentre.
! Using fuel that does not comply with the
European standard EN 590 or the German Refuelling

In the event that the:
R engine oil brand
R grad e(MB Sheet number)
R SAE classification (viscosity)
is not available ,you can use another minera lorsyntheti cengine oil which has been approved
by Mercedes-Benz. You must then have an oil change carrie dout at the earliest possible
opportunity.
Mixing oil sreduces the benefits of high-grade engine oil.
! Do not use lubricant additives .These can lea dtoincreased wea rand damage to mechan-
ical assemblies. The use of lubricant additives wil lresult in arestrictio nofyourw arranty. Engine oil viscosity
Viscosity describes the flow characteristics
of afluid. If an engine oil has ahigh viscosity,
this means it is thick; alow viscosity means
that it is thin.
Select the SAE classification (viscosity )ofthe
engine oil according to the outside tempera-
ture. The following tabl eshow syou the vis-
cosity classes to be use ddepending on the
average airt emperature. 45

prevail.
Otherwise, th ecoolings ystem will no tbe

th eb oilin gpointwill be to olow.
If antifreeze/corrosio ninhibitor is presen tin
th ec orrec tconcentrat ion, theboilin gpoin tof

The antifreeze/corrosio ninhibitor concentra-
tio nint hecoolin gsystem should:
R be at least 50%. This will protect th ecooling
system against freezing down to around
-3 7†.
R no te xcee d5 5% (antifreez eprotection
down to -4 5†)otherwise heat will no tbe
dissipated as effectively.
If th evehicle has lost coolant, to pitupwith
equal amounts of wate rand antifreeze/cor-
rosion inhibitor. Mercedes-Ben zrecom-
mends that you only use an antifreeze/cor-
rosion inhibitor whic hhas been approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
! The coolin gsystem is fille dwithc oolant
whic hmust be renewed after 15 years ,or
after 250,000 km at th elatest.
