To deactivate: press and hold button 0002
for abou tfive seconds until a tone sounds.
X To activate: press and hold button 0003for
about five seconds until a tone sounds.
i If you press one of the two buttons and
do not hear a tone, the relevant setting has
already been selected.
The vehicle is locked automatically when the
ignition is switched on and the wheels are
turning.
You could therefore lock yourself out if:
R the vehicle is being pushed.
R the vehicle is being towed.
R the vehicle is on a roller dynamometer.
You can also switch the automatic locking
function on and off using the on-board
computer (Y page 245). Unlocking the driver's door
(mechanical key)
If the vehicle can no longer be unlocked with
the SmartKey, use the mechanical key.
X Take the mechanical key out of the
SmartKey (Y page 84).
X Insert the mechanical key into the lock of
the driver's door as far as it will go. 0006
To unlock X
Turn the mechanical key counter-clockwise
to position 0006.
The door is unlocked.
X Turn the mechanical key back and remove
it.
X Insert the mechanical key into the
SmartKey.
If you use the mechanical key to unloc kand
open the driver's door, the anti-thef talarm
system will be triggered ( Ypage 78). Locking the vehicle (mechanical key)
If the vehicle can no longer be locked with the
SmartKey, use the mechanical key.
X Open the driver's door.
X Close the front-passenger door and the
trunk lid.
X Press the locking button (Y page 89).
X Check whether the locking knob on the
front-passenger door is still visible. If
necessary, press the locking knob down by
hand (Y page 88).
X Close the driver's door.
X Take the mechanical key out of the
SmartKey (Y page 84).
X Insert the mechanical key into the lock of
the driver's door as far as it will go. 0006
To lock
X Turn the mechanical key clockwise as far
as it will go to position 0006.
X Turn the mechanical key back and remove

Locking the trunk separately
You can lock the trunk separately. If you then
unlock the vehicle centrally, the trunk
remains locked and canno tbe opened.
X Close the trun klid.
X Take the mechanical key out of the
SmartKey (Y page 84). 0006
Basic position
0007 To lock
X Insert the mechanical key into the trunk lid
lock as far as it will go.
X Turn the mechanical key clockwise from
position 0006to position 0007.
X Remove the mechanical key.
X Insert the mechanical key into the
SmartKey. Unlocking the trunk (mechanical key)
! The trunk lid swings upwards when
opened. Therefore, make sure that there is
sufficien tclearance above the trunk lid.
If the trunk cannot be unlocked with the
SmartKey or KEYLESS-GO, use the
mechanical key.
If you use the mechanical key to unloc kand
open the trunk lid, the anti-thef talarm system
will be triggered ( Ypage 78).
X Take the mechanical key out of the
SmartKey (Y page 84).
X Insert the mechanical key into the trunk lid
lock as far as it will go. 0006
Neutral position.
0007 To unlock
X Turn the mechanical key counter-clockwise
fro mp osition 0006as far as it will go to
position 0007.Pulling the trunk lid handle at
the same time.
The trunk is unlocked.
X Turn the mechanical key back to position
0006 and remove it.
X Insert the mechanical key into the
SmartKey.
i When you loc kthe vehicle (Y page 90),
the trunk is also locked. Trunk emergency release
You can open the trunk lid from inside the
vehicle with the emergency release button. X
Press emergency release button 0002briefly.
The trunk lid unlocks and opens.
The trunk lid can be unlocked and opened
with the trunk lid emergency release when
the vehicle is stationary or while driving. Trunk

Turn rotary catch 0002counter-clockwise
and fold down cover 0003.X
Insert Allen key 0023into valve screw 0022on
the hydrauli cpump.
X Turn valve screw 0022of the hydraulic pump
with Allen key 0023counter-clockwise a full
turn. X
On both sides of the trunk, tear paneling
0020 along the perforation in the direction of
the arrow. X
Pull out catch 0021on both sides as far as it
will go and tur nitapproximately a quarter
of a turn counter-clockwise.
X Make sure catch 0021is not drawn in again.
If this happens, pull out catch 0021again as
far as possible and turn it about a quarter
turn counter-clockwise. The soft-top compartment hinges are on the
right-hand and left-hand side in the gap
between the lid of the soft-top compartment
and the trun kseal.
X Shift both levers 0015of soft-top
compartment hinges 0014forwards beyond
the deten tposition on both sides. 102

One person stands on the right-hand side
and the other person on the left-hand side
of the vehicle.
X Grip the soft-top compartment with one
hand as illustrated.
X Use the other hand to support yourselfon
the edge of the trunk lid as illustrated.
X Lift soft-top compartment lid 0017up as far
as it will go .Indoing so, pull soft-top
compartment lid 0017to the rear, applying
constant force. G
WARNING
If anywhere other than the indicated gripping
points is gripped, you or others can become
trapped or stuck. There is a risk of injury.
Take off jewelery and watches. Only hold the
indicated gripping points. Do not reach
between the cover halves and into the hinges. X
Reach under the tip of soft top 0018in the
soft-top compartment from the right-hand
and left-hand sides. X
Lift the soft top out of the soft-top
compartment and guide it forwards in the direction of the arrow onto windshield
frame

X Pull off the cover of the roof lock behind the
overhead control panel.
X Insert the Allen key into the roof lock.
X Turn the Allen key clockwise 001Bas far as
possible.
! During the following step, make sure that
the Allen key is turned counter-clockwise
as far as it will go. Otherwise, the soft top
may not be properly locked.
X Turn the Allen key counter-clockwise 001Cas
far as possible.
The soft top is now pre-locked on the
windshield frame. X
Move material tensioning frame 001Dto an
upright position.
! Make sure the soft-top compartment
cover does not collide with the material
tensioning frame during the following step. 104

Lower soft-top compartment lid 001E.X
With yourh and flat, pres sdown the
material tensioning frame until it rests on
soft-top support 001Fof the soft-top
compartment lid.
X With your hand flat, press the soft-top
compartment cover forwards/downwards
on both sides simultaneously until it
engages in the guide. Apply your hands to
the points indicated with arrows.
At the same time, press the material
tensioning frame gently downwards with
your flat hand. X
Insert the Allen key into the roof lock.
X Turn the Allen key counter-clockwise 0024as
far as possible.
X Have the soft-top mechanism repaired
immediately at a specialist workshop.
i Press the soft-top compartment lid again
if the trunk lid cannot be opened.
! Do not under any circumstances open the
trunk lid with the emergency key. You could
otherwise damage the trunk lid and the
soft-top compartment cover. Relocking the soft top
Important safety notes G
WARNING
If you do not fully open/close the soft top, the
soft-top hydraulics depressurize after a short
time. This causes the soft top to lower
unexpectedly and may cause you or others to
be trapped. There is a risk of injury.
Always open or close the soft top completely.
The soft top is not locked if:
R the Convertible Top in Operation message appears in the multifunction
display.
R you hear a warning tone for up to ten
seconds when pulling away or while driving.
To lock You can lock the soft top again if it is not
locked fully.
X
Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon
as possible, paying attention to road and
traffic conditions.
X Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignition lock.
X Press the soft-top switch (Y page 100). Soft top (Cabriolet)

Wind deflector
0023extends depending on
vehicle speed.
i If you park your vehicle with the roof open
and remove the SmartKey, the AIRCAP
wind screen retracts automatically. If, after
parking the vehicle, the engine is restarted,
the AIRCAP system is activated
automatically.
i AIRCAP cannot be extended or retracted
if the vehicle speed exceeds approximately
100 mph (160 km/h).
Deactivating AIRCAP X
Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignition lock.
X Open the cover in the lower center console.
X Press AIRCAP button 0002.
The two indicato rlamps on the AIRCAP
butto ngo out. The wind deflector 0023retracts.
The head restraints on the rear seats and
AIRCAP wind screen 0003move to the lowest
position simultaneously.
i If there are passengers wearing seat belts
in the rear compartment, the head
restraints on the rear bench seats and the
AIRCAP wind screen remain in the upper
position.

rear bench seats from the driver's seat To improve the rear view, you can retrac
tthe
head restraints on the rear bench seats individually (Y

Preparation You will need a
4mmAllen key to install/
remove the AIRCAP wind screen.
Before installing or removing the AIRCAP
wind screen:
X Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignition lock.
X Open the folding roof fully (Y page 100).
X Extend the head restraints in the rear
compartment fully (Y page 119).

Use the 4 mm hex-socket wrench to turn
the bolts on both sides counter-clockwise
by about 90° and loosen them.
X Pull the bolts out of the brackets on the
head restraints. 108

workshop.
If you require assistance changing bulbs,
consult a qualified specialist workshop.
If the new bulb still does no
tlight up, consult
a qualified specialist workshop.
Bulbs and lamps are an importan taspect of
vehicle safety. You must therefore make sure
that these function correctly at all times.
Have the headlamp setting checked regularly.
Vehicles with static LED headlamps
The front and rear light clusters of your
vehicle are equipped with LED light bulbs. Do
not replace the bulbs yourself. Contact a
qualified specialist workshop which has the
necessary specialist knowledge and tools to
carry out the work required.
Lamps are an important aspect of vehicle
safety. You must therefore make sure that
these function correctly at all times. Have the
headlamp setting checked regularly. Overview:c

You can change the following bulbs. The bulb
type can be found in the legend. Static LED headlamps

Switch off the lights.
X Open the hood.
X Turn housing cover 0002counter-clockwise
and pull it out.
X Turn bulb holder 0003counter-clockwise and
pull it out.
X Take the bulb out of bulb holder 0003.
X Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 0003.
X Insert bulb holder 0003into the lamp and turn
it clockwise.
X Align housing cover 0002and turn it
clockwise until it engages. Windshield wipers
Switching the windshield wipers on/
off
! Do not operate the windshield wipers
whe nthe windshield is dry, as this could
damage the wiper blades. Moreover, dust
that has collected on the windshield can
scratch the glass if wiping takes place when
the windshield is dry.
If it is necessary to switch on the windshield
wipers in dry weather conditions, always
use washer fluid when operating the
windshield wipers.
! If the windshield wipers leave smears on
the windshield after the vehicle has been Windshield wipers

To open/close: turnthumbwheel 0023up or

! Close the air vent when heating the
vehicle.
At high outside temperatures, open the air
vent and activate the "cooling with air
dehumidification" function. Otherwise,
temperature-sensitive items stored in the
glove box could be damaged. 0002

When automatic climate control is activated,
the glove box can be ventilated, for instance
to cool its contents. The level of airflow
depends on the airflow and air distribution
settings.
X To open/close: turn thumbwheel 0002

WARNING
Very hot or very cold air can flow from the air
vents.T his could result in burns or frostbite in
the immediate vicinity of the air vents. There
is a risk of injury.
Make sure that all vehicle occupants always
maintain a sufficient distance to the air
outlets. If necessary, redirect the airflow to
another area of the vehicle interior. G
WARNING
When AIRSCARF is switched on, very hot air
can flow from the vents in the head restraints.
This could result in burns in the immediate
vicinity of the air vents.T here is a risk of injury.
Reduce the heater output before it becomes

X Switch the engine off.
X Remove the SmartKey from the ignition
lock.
X KEYLESS-GO: open the driver’s door.
This corresponds to key position 0: "key
removed".
The driver’s door can be closed again.
X Press the fuel filler flap in the direction of
arrow 0002.
The fuel filler flap opens slightly.
X Open the fuel filler flap fully.
X Turn the fuel filler flap counter-clockwise
and remove it.
X Insert the fuel filler cap into the holder
bracket on the inside of filler flap 0003.
X Completely insert the filler nec kofthe fuel
pump nozzle into the tank, hook in place
and refuel.
X Only fill the tank until the pump nozzle
switches off.
i Do not add any more fuel after the pump
stops filling for the first time. Otherwise,
fuel may leak out. Closing the fuel filler flap X
Replace the cap on the filler neck and turn
clockwise until it engages audibly.
X Close the fuel filler flap.
i Close the fuel filler flap before locking the
vehicle. Otherwise, the locking pin of the
central locking prevents the fuel filler flap
from closing.
i If you are driving with the fuel filler cap
open, the 0012reserve fuel warning lamp
flashes. Amessage appears in the
multifunction display (Y page 262).
In addition, the 0010Check Engine warning
lamp may light up (Y page 282).
For further information on warning and
indicator lamps in the instrument cluster,
see (Y page 282). Refueling

Always store objects so tha tthey cannot be
flung around in these or in similar
situations.
R Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from stowage compartments,
parcel nets or stowage nets.
R Close lockable stowage compartments
while driving.
R Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, pointy, sharp-edged, fragile or too
large in the trunk.
Observe the loading guidelines (Y page 288).
Glove box X
To open: pull handle 0002and open glove box
flap 0003.
X To close: fold glove box flap 0003upwards
until it engages.
i The glove box can be ventilated
(Y page 160). The glove box can only be locked and
unlocked using the mechanical key. X
To lock: insert the mechanical key into the
lock and turn it 90° clockwise to position
0007.
X To unlock: insert the mechanical key into
the lock and turn it 90° counter-clockwise
to position 0006.
Stowage compartment in the center
console X
Briefly press trim 0003in the direction of the
arrow.
Cover 0002swings upwards.
Stowage compartment under the
armrest X
To open: press left-hand button 0003or right-
hand button 0002.
The stowage compartmento pens.
i Coupe: instead of a soft top switch, an
additional stowage compartment can be
found in front of the armrest.
