Setting the temperature
Use temperature controls1 and6
(page 204) to separately adjust the air
temperature on each side of the passenger
compartment. You should raise or lower
the temperature setting in small incre-
ments, preferably starting at 72°F (22°C).
The climate control will adjust to the set
temperature as fast as possible.
Increasing

Turn temperature control1 and/or
6 (
page 204) slightly clockwise.
The climate control system will corre-
spondingly adjust the interior air tem-
perature.Decreasing

Turn temperature control1 and/or
6 (
page 204) slightly counterclock-
wise.
The climate control system will corre-
spondingly adjust the interior air tem-
perature.

Adjusting air volume
Nine blower speeds are available.
Press button
to decrease
orQ to increase air volume
(page 204) to the desired level.
The indicator lamp on buttonU
(page 204) goes out. The automatic
operation of air volume switches off.

Front defroster
You can use this setting to defrost the
windshield, for example if it is iced up.
You can also defog the windshield and the
side windows.Activating

Press button0 (
page 204).
The indicator lamp on the button
comes on.
The air conditioning switches
automatically to the following func-
tions:


cooling on to dehumidify


maximum blowing and heating
power (depends on cooling
temperature)


air flows onto the windshield
and the front side windows


the air recirculation mode is
switched off
Deactivating

Press button0 (
page 204) again.
The indicator lamp on the button goes
out. Defrosting is turned off.
The previous settings are once again in
effect.Windshield fogged on the outside

Switch the windshield wipers on
(page 56).

Close the cockpit air vent.

Press buttonU (
page 204).
The indicator lamp on the button
comes on. The air volume and air distri-
bution are adjusted automatically.
If the automatic air distribution is switched
off:

Turn air distribution control4 to a

page 204).
iKeep this setting selected only until the
windshield or the side windows are
clear again.
iThe cooling remains switched on.iKeep this setting selected only until the
windshield is clear again.

With the engine switched off, it is possible
to continue to heat or ventilate the interior
for up to 30 minutes. This feature makes
use of the residual heat produced by the
engine.
Activating

Switch off the ignition.

Press buttonT (
page 217).
REST in the display4 (page 217)
comes on.Deactivating

Press buttonT (
page 217) again.
REST in the display4 (page 217)
goes out.
iIf you switch on the residual heat
function when temperatures are high,
only the ventilation will be switched on.iRegardless of the selected air volume,
the blower operates at low speed.
iHow long the system will provide heat-

the coolant temperature


the temperature set by the operator
The blower will run at speed setting1
regardless of the air distribution
control setting.
iThe residual heat is automatically
