Notes on breaking-in a new vehicle
To preser vethe engine during thefirs t
1, 000 miles (1,500 km):
RDrive at varying road speeds and engine
speeds.
RDo not drive fasterthan 85 mph (140 km/h).
ROnly brief lyallow the engine toreach a maxi‐
mum engine speed of 4,500 rpm
(4,500 1/min) only brief ly.

RBrake linings, brake discs and tires that are
either new or ha vebeen replaced only ach‐
ie ve optimum braking ef fect and grip af ter
se veral hundred kilom eters of driving. Com‐
pensate forth ere duced braking ef fect by
applying greaterfo rc eto the brake pedal.
Note s onthere ar axle locking dif fere ntial
The rear axle locking dif fere ntial is only
av ailable for the
Merc edes‑AMG E 63 4MATIC and
Mercedes‑AMG E 63 S 4MATIC models.
Changing the oil at there ar axle prolongs the
service life of the dif fere ntial.
Ha ve the oil change car ried out at a qualified
specialist workshop:
RAf ter a breaking-in period of 2000 miles
(3000 km).
REvery 30000 miles (50000 km) or thre e
ye ars.
Operation of the ECO start/s top function
The engine is switched off au tomatical ly:

transmission position hori.
RIf all vehicle conditions for an au tomatic
engine stop are met.

Ifth e engine speed does become too high or too
lo w, you cannot change gear using thesteering
wheel gearshift paddles. In this case, segments
1 light up red.
Gearshift recommendation
The gearshift recommendations assist youin
adopting an economical drivingst yle.
#If ge arshift recommendation message 1is
shown in the multifunction displa y,shift to
th ere commended gear.
Using kickdow n
% Manual gearshifting: kickdown is only pos‐
sible if you ha veactivated manual gearshift‐
ing with thesteering wheel gearshift pad‐
dles. If you ha veactivated manual gearshift‐
ing with the button in the center console,
kickdown is not possible.
#Maximum acceleration: depressthe accel‐
erator pedal be yond the pressure point. During kickdown,
you cannot shift gears using
th esteering wheel gearshift paddles. The auto‐
matic transmission shifts up tothe next gear
when the maximum engine speed is reached to
pr otect the engine from overrev ving.
#Ease off the accelera tor pedal once the
desired speed is reached.
Glide mode function
Glide mode is characterized bythefo llowing:

Selecting Comfort mode
In Comfort mode,the driving characteristics of
yo ur vehicle are more comfor table. Select this
mode if youpr efer a more comfortable driving
st yle, but also when driving at speed on a
st ra ight road, e.g. on a stra ight stre tch of free‐
wa y.

Selecting Sport mode
The firm er suspension tuning in Sport mode
ensures even better contact wi th thero ad.
Select this mode when employing a sporty driv‐
ing style, e.g. on winding count ryroads.

Selecting Sport Plus mode
Thevery firm suspension tuning in Sport Plus
mode ensures the best possible conta ct with the
ro ad. Select this mode only when driving on
closed race circuits.

tra vel. The maximum values appear in red in the
coordinate sy stem.
#To reset the G-M eter: press the left-hand
side of Touch Control.
#Select Yes.
#Pressthe left-hand Touch Control.

Control, the function will be reset immediately.
