If the trans mission isin position 005E,thetail-
gate must beclosed.
If your seatbeltisnot fasten ed,the following
condit ionsmust befulfilled toautomatically
release theelectric parking brake:
R The driver's doorisclosed.
R You areshiftin gfrom transmission position
005D orhave previously drivenatspeeds
greater than2mph (3km/ h)
Ens ure that youdonot depress theaccelera-
tor pedal unintention ally.Otherwise, thepark-
ing brake willbereleased andthevehicle will
start tomove.
Emergency braking The
vehicle canalso bebraked duringan
emergenc yby using theelectric parking brake.
X While driving, pushhandle 0043ofthe electric
parking brake(Ypage 147).
The vehicle isbraked aslong asyou keep
handle 0043ofthe electric parking brake
pressed. Thelonger theelectric parking
brake handle 0043isdepressed, thegreater
the braking force.

four weeks, thebattery maybedamaged by
exhaustive discharging.
If you leave thevehicle parkedforlonger than
six weeks, thevehicle maysuffer damage asa
result oflack ofuse.
