wise 2(to lock) or anti-clockwise 1(to

When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. #
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. Obser

If th e front-passen ger seat backrest is folded
fo rw ards, persons in there ar compartment could collide with parts of
the seat adjust‐
ment mechanism, particular lyin theev ent of
an accident, sudden braking or an abrupt
ch ange of direction. #
Ifth ere is a passenger in theve hicle
and the front-passen ger seat backrest
is folded forw ards, the passenger must
sit on there ar seat behind the driver. The backrest of
the front-passen ger seat can be
fo lded forw ards toinc rease the luggage com‐
partment capacity.
Re quirements:
R The rear seat behind the front-passen ger
seat backrest that is folded forw ards and the
re ar centre seat are unoccupied. #
Folding forw ards: pullthere lease handle
1 and fold the seat backrest fully forw ards
on to the sitting sur face until it engages. #
Folding back: pullthere lease handle 1
and piv otthe seat backrest backwards until

When you adjust a seat, you may trap your‐
self or a vehicle occupant. #
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. &
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped if
th e seat is not engaged
The seat does not engage when folded for‐
wa rds. The seat can fold backwards unex‐
pectedl y,e.g. when accelerating, braking or
in theev ent of an abrupt change of direction
or an accident.
Pe ople in the seat's sweep can become trap‐
ped. #
If a seat is folded forw ards, alw aysfo ld
it back before driving off. #
Make sure that the seat is engaged. Alw
ays ensure that all vehicle occupants ha ve
th eir seat belts fastened cor rectly and are sitting
prope rly. Pa rticular attention must be paid to
ch ildren.
If yo u no lon gerre qu ire thefo lded-d own seat
ba ckrest as a loading area, fold the backrest
back into place.
Re quirements:
R The area into which the seat is folded is
clear.
R The area under there ar ben chseat is clear.
R The armrest on the second row of seats is
fo lded back and the cup holders are em pty. #
Trap the seat belt stra p on the seat belt 2
in the seat belt stra p holder 1.
When the left-hand seat backrest is folded for‐
wa rds, the cent reseat backrest will also be fol‐

Movethe driver's or front passenger seat for‐
wa rds, if necessar y. #

th e seat backrest and push them down

seat ba ckrest are not engaged
If th e seat and seat backrest are not engaged
th ey could fold forw ards, e.g. when braking
or in theev ent of an accident.
This poses thefo llowing risks in particular:
R A seat or seat backrest that is not
engaged can push theve hicle occupant
against the seat belt. The seat belt would
th en not be able toprov ide the intended Seats and

otection and could cause additional
injur y.
R Ach ild restra int sy stem would no lon ger
be suppor ted cor rectly or positioned cor‐
re ctly and would no lon ger per form its
intended function.
R The seat backrest cannot restra in objects
or goods in the luggage compartment.
Alw ays ensure that the seat and seat back‐
re st are engaged, especially:
R before passengers tra vel on a seat with
th e easy entry andexitfeature.
R afte r adju sting the seat.
R afte rth e easy entry andexitfeature is
used.
R afte rth e load compartment enlar gement
has been folded down. &

If th ere ar seat backrest is folded forw ards,
persons in theth ird row of seats could col‐
lide with parts of the seat adjustment mech‐

Movethe second row of seats forw ards and
mo vethe seat backrests into the cargo posi‐
tion (/ page134). #
Release the head restra ints on theth ird row
of seats and push them down (/ page119). #
Pull one of there dre lease loops 1.
The seat backrest will automatically fold for‐
wa rds. #
Push the seat backrest down until it engages.
% When the seat backrests on the second and
th ird row s of seats are folded forw ards, you

Re tracting #
Unhook the load compartment co ver from
holders on the left and right 2and guide it fo
rw ards bygrab handle 1until it is fully
re tracted.

Re quirements:
R The load compartment co ver is rolled up.
Re moving the load co mpartment co ver #
Press in the end cap of the load compart‐
ment co ver1 ontheright- and left-hand
side in the direction of the ar row using the
handle on the lo wer edge 3. #
Push the load compartment co ver1 into
th e anchorage 2onthe opposite side. #
Take the load compartment co ver1 out by
