adjusting the seats
When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself
or a vehicle occupant. #
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. &

ARNING Risk of accident if the seat and
seat backrest are not engaged
The seat and seat backrest can fold forw ards.
There is a risk of thefo llowing, in particular:
R The vehicle occupant may be pressed
against the seat belt. The seat belt cannot
pr otect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injur y.
R Ach ild restraint system will no longer be
prope rly suppor ted or positioned and will
no longer ful/l its function as intended. R
The seat backrest will not be able restrain
objects or goods in the load compartment.
Alw ays ensu rethat the seat and seat backrest
are engaged, in particular:
R Before persons tr avel in theve hicle while
sitting on a seat with the easy entry and
ex itfeature
R ATer the seat has been adjusted.
R ATer the easy entry and exitfeature has
been used
R ATer the load compartment enlar gement
has been folded forw ards &

Yo u or other vehicle occupants could be trap-
ped and thereby injured. #
Adjust there ar seats before starting the
engine. *

TE Damage caused byobjects in the

thefo re -and-aT position, the
re ar seats and/or the object can be damaged. #
Stow objects in a suitable place. This function is
available only forve hicles with a
mo vable rear ben chseat.
The components of there ar ben chseat can be
mo ved. You can mo vetheright-hand and leT-hand
parts toget her with the centre part independent ly
of each other. This allo wsyouto make thefo ot-
we ll lar ger in either the second or third row of

If th e seat backrest of there ar seat is folded
fo rw ards, persons in theth ird row of seats
may hit parts of the seat mechanism, espe-
cially in theeve nt of an accident, braking
manoeuvre or abrupt change of direction. #
Ifth ere is a person in theth ird row of
seats, there ar seat in front of them must
be folded back tothe driving position
before the journey begins. #
Persons in theth ird row of seats should
not rest their legs on a seat backrest
th at has been folded forw ards. Yo
u can fold the backrests of the second row of
seats forw ards toget in or out. &

The seat does not engage when folded for-
wa rds. The seat can fold backwards unexpect-
edl y,e.g. when accelerating, braking or in the
eve nt of an abrupt change of direction or an
accident.
Pe ople in the seat's sweep can become trap-
ped. #
If a seat is folded forw ards, alw aysfo ld it
back before driving o.. #
Make sure that the seat is engaged. R R

Hold the seat backrest in place with your hand

Gently pull one of release loops 1and fold

seat backrest on the second row of seats
fo rw ards
If th e handle forth e seat backrest on the sec-
ond row of seats is pulled from theth ird row
of seats, the seat backrest on the second row
of seats will fold forw ards and will not engage.
Pe ople in the sweep of this seat backrest can
become trapped. #
When getting out of theth ird row of
seats, do not hold the seat backrest on
th e second row of seats. V

Swivel seat backrest back until it engages.
The seat backrest will remain in the cargo
position. #
Slide the seat backwards.

Yo u could lose control of theve hicle in thefo l-
lowing situations in particular:
R ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re straint, the steering wheel or the mir ror
while theve hicle is in motion
R ifyo ufa sten your seat belt while theve hi-
cle is in motion #
Before starting theve hicle: in particular,
adjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
stee ring wheel and mir ror,and fasten
yo ur seat belt. &

re straints not being /tted or being adjus-
te d incor rectly
If head restraints ha venot been installed or
ha ve not been adjusted cor rectl y,there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in theeve nt of an accident or when
braking. #
Always drive with the head restraints /t-
te d. #
Before driving o., make sure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the centre of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. Do not inter
change the head restraints of the
front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able toadjust the height and angle of the head
re straints co rrectl y.
Ad just the head restraint fore -and-aT position so
th at it is as close as possible tothe back of your

The head restraints on theth ird row of seats ha ve
a usage position and a non-usage position. The
usage position is theex tended, top position in
which the head restraint engages; the non-usage
position is the bottom, retracted position of the
head restraint. If the seats on theth ird row of
seats are being used, the head restraint must be
in theto p, engaged usage position. #

Re peatedly switching on the seat heating can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest pad-
ding tobecome very hot.
In particular, the health of persons with limited
te mp erature sensitivity or a limited ability to
re act tohigh temp eratures may be a.ected or
th ey may even su.er burn-like injuries. #
Do not repeatedly switch on the seat
heating. To
protect against overheating, the seat heating
may be temp orarily deactivated aTer it has been
switched on repeatedl y.

va te the easy entry‑ and exitfeature, particu-
lar lywhen unat tended. #
Never lea vechildren unattended in the
ve hicle. #
When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke the
ke y with you and lock theve hicle. When
the easy entry and exitfeature is active, the
driver's seat will mo vebackwards and the bac k-
re st will be mo vedto a steeper position when:
R You switch the ignition o. when the driver's
door is open
R You open the driver's door when the ignition is
switched o. %
The driver's seat will then mo vebackwards
only if it is not already at there ar of the seat
adjustment range.
The seat backrest will then mo ve forwards
only if it is not already at the front of the bac k-
re st adjustment range.
The driver's seat will mo veback tothe last drive
position when:
R You switch the ignition on with the driver's
door closed.
R You close the driver's door when the ignition is
switched on
The last drive position will be sa ved when:
R You switch the ignition o..
R You call up the seat settings via the memory
function.
