Adjusting the climate mode settings
The climate mode determines the type of air-flow. The setting is active when the air-condi-tioning system is set toX(Ypage 123).
XCall up the climate control menu(Ypage 273).
XTo selectClimate ModeClimate Mode: turn and press thecontroller.
XTo change the setting: turn the controller.
XTo exit the menu:press the8button.
The climate mode bar displays the current air-flow setting:DIFFUSEDIFFUSE,MEDIUMMEDIUMorFOCUSFOCUS.
Starting/stopping the perfume atomizer
The perfume atomizer makes it possible to scentthe air in individual compartments in the vehicleinterior. Further information (Ypage 127).
XCall up the climate control menu(Ypage 273).
XTo selectAirAirFreshenerFreshener: turn and press thecontroller.The setting element is active.
XTo start/stop the perfume atomizer: pressthe controller.
XTo set the intensity: turn the controller whenthe atomizer is switched on.
XTo exit the menu:press the8button.
Switching the ionization on/off
The ionization has a cleansing effect on the air inthe vehicle interior. Further information(Ypage 128).
XCall up the climate control menu(Ypage 273).
XTo selectIonizationIonization: turn and press thecontroller.The setting element is active.
XTo switch the ionization on or off: turn thecontroller.
XTo exit the menu:press the8button.

Problems with the 115 V power socket
ProblemPossible causes/consequences andPPSolutions
The warning lamp on the115 V power socket isnot lit.
The on-board voltage is too low because the battery is too weak.
XStart the engine.

If the indicator lamp still does not light up:
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop.
The temperature of the DC/AC converter is temporarily too high.
XRemove the electronic device connector from the 115 V socket.
XLet the DC/AC converter cool down.
If the indicator lamp still does not light up after cooling down theconverter:
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop.
You have connected an electronic device that has a constant nominalpower of less than 150 watts, but has a very high switch-on current.This device will not work. If you connect such a device, the 115 Vpower socket will not supply it with power.
XConnect a suitable electronic device.

tem

XTo open:press coverC.
XTo make an emergency call:press SOS but-tonDbriefly.The indicator lamp in SOS buttonDflashesuntil the emergency call is concluded.
XWait for a voice connection to the Mercedes-Benz emergency call center.
XAfter the emergency call, close coverC.
You will see a message if:
Ra connection to the Mercedes-Benz emer-gency call center cannot be established
Ra call has not been automatically forwardedto the public emergency call center
In this case, dial the emergency number onyour mobile phone.

General notes
The display of the multimedia system indicatesthat a call is active. During the call, you can callup the navigation menu by pressing the

The following cause engine failure or damageto the exhaust system:
RUse of engine oils and oil filters that havenot been expressly approved for the servicesystem
RReplacement of engine oil and oil filter afterthe replacement interval specified by theservice system has expired
RUse of engine oil additives
!Do not add too much oil. adding too muchengine oil can result in damage to the engineor to the catalytic converter. Have excessengine oil siphoned off.
Add engine oil (example)
XTurn capCcounter-clockwise and remove it.
XAdd engine oil.If the oil level is at or below the MIN mark onthe oil dipstick, add 1.1 US qt (1.0l)of engineoil.
XReplace capCon the filler neck and tightenclockwise.Ensure that the cap locks into place securely.
XCheck the oil level again with the oil dipstick(Ypage 301).

GWARNING
Certain components in the engine compart-
ment, such as the engine, radiator and parts
of the exhaust system, can become very hot.
Working in the engine compartment poses a
risk of injury.
Where possible, let the engine cool down and
touch only the components described in the
following.
GWARNING
The engine compartment contains moving
components. Certain components, such as
the radiator fan, may continue to run or start
again suddenly when the ignition is off. There
is a risk of injury.
If you need to do any work inside the engine
compartment:
Rswitch off the ignition
Rnever reach into the area where there is a
risk of danger from moving components,
such as the fan rotation area
Rremove jewelry and watches
Rkeep items of clothing and hair, for exam-
ple, away from moving parts
GWARNING
The cooling system is pressurized, particularly
when the motor is warm. If you open the cap,
you could be scalded if hot coolant sprays out.
There is a risk of injury.
Let the engine cool down before you open the
cap. Wear protective gloves and protective
eyewear when opening. Open the cap slowly
to release pressure.
GWARNING
Opening the hood when the engine is over-
heated or when there is a fire in the engine
compartment could expose you to hot gases
or other service products. There is a risk of
injury.
Let an overheated engine cool down before
opening the hood. If there is a fire in the
engine compartment, keep the hood closed
and contact the fire department.

Maintenance and care

Use only SAE 0W-40 or SAE 5W-40 engine oilsfor Mercedes-AMG vehicles.

!Do not use any additives in the engine oil.This could damage the engine.
Brake fluid
GWARNING
The brake fluid constantly absorbs moisture
from the air. This lowers the boiling point of
the brake fluid. If the boiling point of the brake
fluid is too low, vapor pockets may form in the
brake system when the brakes are applied
hard. This would impair braking efficiency.
There is a risk of an accident.
You should have the brake fluid renewed at
the specified intervals.
When handling brake fluid, observe the impor-tant safety notes on service products(Ypage 358).
The brake fluid change intervals can be found inthe Maintenance Booklet.
Only use brake fluid approved by Mercedes-Benz in accordance with MB-Freigabe or MB-Approval 331.0.

Coolant
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If antifreeze comes into contact with hot com-
ponents in the engine compartment, it may
ignite. There is a risk of fire and injury.
Let the engine cool down before you add anti-
freeze. Make sure that antifreeze is not spilled
next to the filler neck. Thoroughly clean the
antifreeze from components before starting
the engine.
!Only add coolant that has been premixedwith the desired antifreeze protection. Youcould otherwise damage the engine.

Otherwise, the engine cooling system is notsufficiently protected from corrosion andoverheating.

Comply with the important safety notes for ser-vice products when handling coolant(Ypage 358).
The coolant is a mixture of water and anti-freeze/corrosion inhibitor. It performs the fol-lowing tasks:
Ranti-corrosion protection
Rantifreeze protection
Rraising the boiling point
If the coolant has antifreeze protection down to-35 ‡ (-37 †), the boiling point of the coolantduring operation is approximately 266 ‡(130 †).
The antifreeze concentrate/corrosion inhibitorconcentration in the engine cooling systemshould:
Rbe at least 50%. This will protect the enginecooling system against freezing down toapproximately -35 ‡ (-37 †).
Rnot exceed 55% (antifreeze protection downto -49‡[-45 †]). Otherwise, heat will not bedissipated as effectively
Mercedes-Benz recommends an antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor concentrate in accordancewith MB Specifications for Service Products310.1.
iWhen the vehicle is first delivered, it is filledwith a coolant mixture that ensures adequateantifreeze and anti-corrosion protection.
iThe coolant is checked with every mainte-nance interval at a qualified specialist work-shop.

Windshield washer system
Important safety notes
GWARNING
Windshield washer concentrate is highly flam-
mable. If windshield washer concentrate gets
onto hot components of the engine or the
exhaust system, it can ignite. There is a risk of
fire and injury.
Make sure that windshield washer concen-
trate is not spilled in the vicinity of the filler
neck.
!Only use washer fluid which is suitable forlamp lenses, e.g. MB SummerFit or MB Win-terFit. Unsuitable washer fluid may damagethe lamp lenses of the headlamps.
!Only MB SummerFit and MB WinterFitwasher fluid should be mixed together. Thespray nozzles may otherwise becomeblocked.
Do not use distilled or de-ionized water. Other-wise, the level sensor may give a false reading.
When handling washer fluid, observe the impor-tant safety notes on service products(Ypage 358).
At temperatures above freezing:
XFill the washer fluid reservoir with a mixture ofwater and windshield washer fluid, e.g. MBSummerFit.
Add 1 part MB SummerFit to 100 parts water.
At temperatures below freezing:
XFill the washer fluid reservoir with a mixture ofwater and washer fluid, e.g. MB WinterFit.
For the correct mixing ratio refer to the infor-mation on the antifreeze reservoir.
iAdd windshield washer fluid, e.g. MB Sum-merFit or MB WinterFit, to the washer fluid allyear round.
