R Recommended for all road conditions
% Depending on the situation, the cylinder can
be brief lydeactivated in the drive pro‐
grams ;andA, depending on the
engine.
% The ESP ®
settings in the drive pro‐
grams ;andA are designed forst a‐
bilit y.Therefore, choose one of these driving
programs, especially when transporting roof
loads, in trailer operation and when theve hi‐
cle is fully loaded or fully occupied.
Depending on the drive program, thefo llowing
sy stems change their characteristics:

drive prog ram should be restored. If the ECO
st art/ stop function was deactivated, an addi‐
tional prom ptappears asking if the function
should remain deactivated. %
The prom ptappears on ly ifthe pr eviously
active settings deviate from thest andard
settings.

The ECO start/ stop function is activated auto‐
matically.

Use the Offroad Score only for off-road driving
and not on public roads. When choosing the
ro ute, take into account theve hicle characteris‐
tics, the ground conditions and your driving
skills. Do not let the sy stem distract you from
what is happening on thero ute. #

- Profile name and profile picture (if availa‐

The "S tart new trip" function is available when
th eve hicle is stationary and the engine is run‐

R open doors, thereby endangering other
persons or road users.

thech ildren could also set the
ve hicle in motion by,fo rex ample:
R releasing the parking brake.
R changing the transmission position.

push the selector le ver up or down for sev‐
eral seconds tothefirs t point of resis tance.
Subsequently releasing the brake pedal will
allow youto mo vetheve hicle freel y,e.g. topush
it or tow it away.
Proceed as follo ws ifyo uwa ntthe automatic
transmission toremain in neutral 005C 005C,even if
th e ignition is switched off or the driver's
door is opened: #
Dep ress the brake pedal and engage neutral
005C when the car is stationar y.
The message N permanently active Risk of
vehicle rolling appears inthe instrument

Release the brake pedal. #
Switch the ignition off. %

% Depending on the situation, it may take a
short time until 005Dis engaged. Therefore, alw
ays pay attention tothe transmission

Pa rk position 005Dis engaged automatically if one

R You swit choff the ignition when theve hicle
is stationary and the transmission position is
005B or005E.
R You open the driver's door when theve hicle
is at a standstill or when driving at a very low
speed and the transmission position is 005Bor
005E.
R You swit choff the engine and bring theve hi‐
cle toast andstill when theve hicle is rolling
and the transmission position is 005Bor005E.
R You swit choff the engine, bring theve hicle
to ast andstill and open the driver's door
when theve hicle is stationary or when the
ve hicle is rolling and the transmission posi‐
tion is 005C.
R Enga ging park position 005Dautomatically is

sy stem (EQ-Boost technology): The com‐

4MATIC ensures that all four wheels are driven.
To ge ther with ESP ®
and 4ETS, 4MATIC impr oves
th e traction of your vehicle whene ver a driven
wheel spins due toinsuf ficient traction.
If yo ufa ilto adapt your driving style, 4MATIC can
neither reduce therisk of an accident nor over‐
ri de the la wsof ph ysics. 4MATIC cannot take
account of road, weather and traf fic conditions.
4MATIC is only an aid. You are responsible espe‐
cially for maintaining a safe dis tance from the
ve hicle in front, forve hicle speed, for braking in
good time and forst ay ing in lane.
% In wint ryroad conditions, the maximum
ef fect of 4MATIC can be achie ved only if you
use winter tyres (M+S tyres), with sn ow
