Speed Limit Assist de tects speed limits with
multifunction camera and displa ys them in the
instrument clus ter and optionally in the head-up
displa y.The camera also de tects speed limits
wi th are striction indicated byan additional sign
(e.g. when wet). The sy stem de tects stop signs,
th ereby pr eventing the engine from being
switched off bythe ECO start/ stop function.

Wa rning when the maximum permissible
speed is exceeded
The sy stem can warnyou if you unin tentionally
exc eed the maximum permissible speed. Todo
th is, you can specify in the multimedia sy stem
by how much the maximum permissible speed
can be exceeded before a warning is issued. Yo u
can specify whe ther thewa rning is tobe just a

ve hicle, thewa rning lamp in the outside mir ror
lights up red.

If a vehicle is de tected close toyour vehicle and

are indicated only bytheflashing of thered

traf fic situation when opening the doors
and make sure there is suf ficient clear‐
ance. If
th ere is a vehicle in the monitoring range, this
is indicated in the outside mir ror.If a vehicle
occupant opens the door on the side with the
wa rning, a warning tone sounds and thewa rning
lamp in the outside mir rorst arts toflash.
This additional function is on lyavailable when
Blind Spot Assist is active. When theex itwa rn‐
ing is activated, it can warnvehicle occupants
fo r up tothre e minutes af ter switching the igni‐ tion off. The
exitwa rning is no longer available
once thewa rning lamp in the outside mir ror
fl ashes thre e times.
The exitwa rning is only an aid and not a substi‐
tute forth e attention of vehicle occupants. The
re sponsibility for opening and closing the doors
and for leaving theve hicle remains with theve hi‐
cle occupants.
Sy stem limits
Blind Spot Assist and Active Blind Spot Assi st
may be limi ted in thefo llowing situations, in par‐
ticular:
R ifth ere is dirt on the sensors or the sensors
are obscured
R in poor visibility, e.g. due tofog, heavy rain or
snow
R ifth ere are nar row vehicles, e.g. bicycles or
mo torbikes
R ifth ero ad has very wide or nar rowlanes
R ifve hicles are not driving in the middle of
th eir lane Wa
rnings may be issued in er ror when driving
close tocrash barr iers or similar continuous lane
borders. Alw ays make sure that there is suf fi‐
cient dist ancetothe side forot her traf fic or
obs tacles.
Wa rnings may be inter rupte d when driving along‐
side long vehicles, forex ample lor ries, for a pro‐
longed time.
Blind Spot Assist is not operational when reve rse
ge ar is engaged.
Blind Spot Assist and theex itwa rning are not
operational when a trailer is coupled totheve hi‐
cle and the electrical connection has been cor‐
re ctly es tablished.

nction of the 360° Camera
The 360° Camera is a sy stem that consists of
fo ur cameras. The cameras co verth e immediate
ve hicle sur roundings. The sy stem assists you
when you are parking or at exits with reduced
visibility, forex ample.
The vie wsofthe 360° Camera are alw aysav aila‐
ble when driving forw ards up toa speed of
appr ox.16 km/h and when reve rsing.
The 360° Camera is only an aid and may show a
dis torted view of obs tacles, show them incor‐
re ctly or not show them at all. It is not a substi‐
tute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings. The
re sponsibility for safe manoeuvring and parking
re mains with you. Make sure that there are no
persons, animals or objects etc., in the manoeu‐
vring area while manoeuvring and parking. The sy
stem evaluates images from thefo llowing
cameras:
R Reversing camera
R Front camera
R Two side cameras in the outside mir rors

If, af ter shifting toreve rsege ar, the image of
th ere ve rsing camera is not shown: switch off
th e ignition, press and hold thec button,

nction of Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONIC is an electronic
parking assi stance sy stem with ultrasound. It
monitors the area around your vehicle using mul‐
tiple sensors on the front bumper and on the
re ar bumper. Parking Assist PARKTRONIC sho ws
yo uth e dis tance between your vehicle and a
de tected obs tacle visually and audibly.
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONIC is on lyan aid. It is
not a substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur‐
ro undings. The responsibility for safe manoeu‐
vring and parking remains with you. Make sure
th at there are no persons, animals or objects in
th e manoeuvring area while manoeuvring and
parking in/exiting parking spaces.
In thest andard setting, an intermit tent wa rning
to ne sounds from a di stance of appr oximately
0.3 m toan obs tacle in front and appr oximately
1. 0 m toan obs tacle behind. A continuous warn‐
ing tone sounds from a di stance of appr ox‐
imately 0.2 m. Using theWarn early all-round
setting in the multimedia sy stem, thewa rning
to nes for front and side impact pr otection can be set
tosound at a greater dis tance of appr ox‐
imately 1.0 m in front and 0.6 m on the sides
(/ page 275).
% The Warn early all-round setting is always

ove rhanging loads, overhangs or loading

The sensors must be free of dirt, ice and slush.
Otherwise, they may not function cor rectly.
Clean the sensors regularly, especially af ter driv‐
ing off-road, taking care not toscratch or dam‐
age them (/ page212).
Ve hicles with trailer hitch: Parking Assist
PA RKTRONIC is deacti vatedfo rth ere ar zone
when you es tablish an elect rical connection
between your vehicle and a trailer. Problems with
