You can only open the rear doors from inside
the vehicle if they are not secured by the
child-proof locks (Y page 60).X

ignition is switched on and the wheels are
turning.

When opening, the tailgate swings up and
out. Therefore, mak esure that there is suf-
ficient clearance above and behind the tail-
gate.
X Insert emergency key element ;into
opening in trim :.
X Turn emergency key element ;90° clock-
wise.
X Push emergency key element ;in the
direction of the arrow and open the tail-

WARNING
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
between the side window and the door frame
when aside window is opened. Do not touch
or lean against the side window during the
opening procedure. You could become trap-
ped between the side window and the door
frame as the side window moves down. If
there is arisk of becoming trapped, release
the switch or pull the switch upwards to close
the side window again. G
WARNING
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
as you close aside window. If there is arisk
of becoming trapped, release the switch or
press it agai ntoopen the side window again. G
WARNING
Children may injur ethemselves if they open
or close the side windows.
Never leav echildren unsupervised in the vehi-
cle. Always tak ethe key with you when leaving
the vehicle, even if you ar eonly leaving it for
as hort time. G

dows while the vehicle is in motion and

The switches for all side windows are located
on the driver's door. There is also aswitch on
eac hdoorfor the corresponding side window.
The switches on the driver's door tak eprec-
edence.
i Thes ide windows cannot be operated
from the rear when the override featur efor
the side window sisactivate d(Ypage 60).
X Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X To open: press the corresponding switch.
X To close: pull the corresponding switch.
i If you press the switch beyond the point
of resistan ce,ana utomatic opening /clos-
ing process is started in the corresponding
direction .You can stop automatic opera-
tion by pressin gagain.
i You can con tinue to operate the sid ewin-
dows after switching off the engine or
removing the key. This func tion remains
active for fiv eminutes or until the driver's
or front-passenger door is opened. Convenience opening feature
You can ventilate the vehicle before you start
driving. To do this, the key is used to carr yout
the following functions simultaneously:
R unlock the vehicle
R open the side windows
R open the sliding sunroof or the panorama
sliding sunroof and the roller sunblinds
R switch on the seat ventilation for the driv-
er's seat
i The convenience opening feature can
only be operated using the key. The key
must be close to the driver' sdoor handle. X
Point the tip of the key at the driver's door
handle.
X Press and hold the %button until the
side window sand the sliding sunroo forthe
panorama slidin gsunroof are in the desired
position.
If the roller sunblinds of the panorama sliding
sunroof are closed ,the roller sunblinds are
opened first.
X Press and hold the %button again until
the panorama slidin gsunroof is in the
desired position.
X To interrupt convenience opening:
release the %button. Convenience closin

General notes When you lock the vehicle, you can simulta-
neously:
R
close the side windows
R close the sliding sunroof or the panorama
sliding sunroof
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof,
you can then close the roller sunblinds. G
WARNING
When using the convenienc eclosing feature,
make sure that nobody can become trapped.
Proceed as follows if there is arisk of entrap-
ment:
With the key:
R release the &button.
R press and hold the %button until the
side windows and the sliding sunroof or the
panoram asliding sunroof open again.
With KEYL ESS-GO:
R release the senso rsurface on the door han-
dle.
R pull the door handle immediately and hold
it.

The key must be close to the driver 'sdoor
handle.
X Point the tip of the key at the driver' sdoor
handle.
X Press and hold the &button until the
side window sand the sliding sunroof or the
panorama sliding sunroof are fully closed.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
sliding sunroof or panorama sliding sunroof
are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof:
X Press and hold the &button again until
the roller sunblinds of the panorama sliding
sunroof close.
X To interrupt convenienc eclosing:

Using KEYLESS-GO The KEYL
ESS-GOkey must be outside the
vehicle .All the doors must be closed. X
Touch recessed sensor surface :on the
door handle until the side windows and the
sliding sunroof or the panoram asliding
sunroof are fully closed.
i Make sure you only touch recessed sen-
sor surface :.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
sliding sunroof or panoram asliding sunroof
are closed. On vehicles with
apanorama sliding sunroof:
X Touch recessed senso rsurface :on the
door handle again until the roller sunblinds
of the panorama sliding sunroof close.
X To interrupt convenienc eclosing:
release recessed sensor surface :on the
door handle. Resetting the side windows
If as ide window can no longer be closed fully,
you must reset it.
X Close all the doors.
X Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X Pull the corresponding switch on the door
control panel until the side window is com-
pletely closed. (Y page 83)
X Hold the switch for an additional second.
If the side window opens again slightly:
X Immediately pull the corresponding switch
on the door control panel until the side win-
dow is completely closed (Y page 83).
X Hold the switch for an additional second.
X If the corresponding side window remains
closed after the button has been released,
the side window has been reset correctly.
If this is not the case, repeat the steps
above again. Problems with the side windows
Problem: aside window cannot be closed
because it is blocked by objects, e.g.
leaves in th ewindow guide.
X Remov ethe objects.
X Close the side window.
Problem :aside window cannot be closed
and you cannot see th ecause. G
WARNING

lead to serious or even fatal injury. Make sure
that nobody can becom etrapped when clos-
ing the side windows.
If as ide window is obstructed during closing
and reopen sagain slightly:
X Im me diately after the window blocks, pull
the correspondin gswitc hagain until the
side window has closed.
The side window is close dwith increased
force.
If as ide window is obstructed again during
closing and reopen sagain slightly:
X Im me diately after the window blocks, pull
the correspondin gswitc hagain until the
side window has closed.
The side window is close dwithout the anti-
entrapmen tfeature. Sliding sunroof
Important safet
ynotes
Your vehicle may be fitted with asliding sun-
roof or apanorama sliding sunroof. In the fol-
lowing section, the ter m"slidin gsunroof"
refers to both types of sliding sunroof. G
WARNING
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
when opening and closing the sliding sunroof.
If there is arisk of entrapment ,release the
switch immediately. Durin gautomatic opera-
tion ,push the switc hbriefly in any direction
to stop the sliding sunroof. G
WARNING
Th eg lass in th epanoram asunroof could
brea kinana ccident. If yo uare not wearin ga
seat belt ,there is arisk that you could be
thrown through the opening in the event of the
vehicle overturning. Therefore, always wear a
seat belt to reduce the risk of injuries. G
WARNING
Children could injur ethemselves if they oper-
ate the slidin gsunroof.
Never leave children unsupervised in the vehi-
cle. Always take the key with you when leaving
the vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for
as hort time.
! Only open the panoram asliding sunroof
if it is free of snow and ice. Otherwise, mal-
func tions ma yoccur.
Do not allo wanything to protrude from the
sliding sunroof. Otherwise, the seals could
be damaged.
i Resonance noises can occur in addition
to the usual airflow noises whe nthe sliding
sunroof is open. They ar ecaused by minor
pressure fluctuations in the vehicle interior.
Change the position of the sliding sunroof
or open aside window slightly to reduce or
eliminat ethese noises. Operating th

You can continue to operate the sliding
sunroof after switching off the engine or
removing the key. This function remains
activ efor fiv eminutes or until the driver's
or front-passenger door is opened. Overhead control panel

i If you press the 2switchbeyond the
point of resistance, an automatic opening/
closing process is star tedint he corre-
sponding direction .You can stop automatic
operation by pressin gagain.
The sun protection cover automatically opens
along with the slidin gsunroof. You can open
or close the sun protection cover manually
when the sliding sunroof is raised or closed.
Rain closin gfeature When the key is in position
0in the ignition
lock or is removed, the sliding sunroof closes
automatically:
R if it start storain
R at extreme outside temperatures
R after six hours
R if there is amalfunction in the power supply
The rear of the sliding sunroof is then raised
in order to ventilate the vehicle interior.
i If the sliding sunroof is obstructed when
being closed by the rain closing feature, it
opens again slightly. The rain closing fea-
ture is then deactivated.
The sliding sunroof does not close if:
R it is raised at the rear.
R it is blocked.
R no rain is falling on the area of the wind-
screen being monitored by the rain sensor
(e.g. because the vehicle is under abridge
or in acarport).
Resetting Reset the sliding sunroof if it does not move
smoothly. X
Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X Raise the sliding sunroof fully at the rear
(Y page 86).
X Keep the 2switch presse dfor another
second.
X Make sure that the slidin gsunroof can be
fully opened and closed again (Y page 86).
X If this is not the case, repeat the steps
above again.
! If the sliding sunroof still cannot be
opened or closed fully after resetting, con-
tact aqualified specialist workshop. Operating the panorama slidin

The panorama sliding sunroof remains raised
at the rear in order to allow ventilation of the
vehicle interior.
i If the panorama sliding sunroof is obstruc-
ted when being closed by the rain closing
feature, it opens again slightly. The rain
closing feature is then deactivated.
The panorama sliding sunroof does not close
if:
R it is raised at the rear.
R it is blocked.
R no rain is falling on the area of the wind-
screen being monitored by the rain sensor
(e.g. because the vehicle is under abridge

Genera lnotes The roller sunblinds shield the vehicle interior
from sunlight. The two roller sunblinds can
only be opened and closed together when the
panoram asliding sunroof is closed. G
WARNING

Resetting the panora masliding sunroof
and th eroller sunblinds Reset the panorama sliding sunroof and the
roller sunblinds if the panorama sliding sun-
roof or the roller sunblinds do not move
smoothly.
X Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X Pull the 2switchrepeatedly to the point
of resistanc einthe direction of arrow =
until the pano rama sliding sunroof is fully
closed.
X Kee pswitch 2pulled for an additional
second.
X Pull the 2switchrepeatedly to the point

! If the panorama sliding sunroof and the
roller sunblin dcannot be fully opened or
closed after resetting, contact aqualified
specialist workshop. Problems with the slidin
gsunroof
Your vehicl emay be fitted with asliding sun-
roof or apanorama sliding sunroof. In the fol-
lowing section, the term "sliding sunroof"
refers to both types of sliding sunroof.
Problem: the sunroof cannot be closed
and you cannot see the cause. G
WARNING
You could be severely or even fatally injured
when closing the sliding sunroof with
increased closing force or if the anti-entrap-
ment feature is deactivated. Make sure that
nobody can become trapped when closing the
sliding sunroof.
If the sliding sunroof is obstructed during
closing and reopens again slightly:
X Immediately after the sliding sunroof
blocks, pull the 2switch in the over-
head control panel down to the point of
resistance and hold it until the sliding sun-
roof is closed.
The sliding sunroof is closed with increased
force.
If the sliding sunroof is obstructed again dur-
ing closing and reopens again slightly:
X Immediately after the sliding sunroof
blocks, pull the 2switch in the over-
head control panel down to the point of resistance and hold it until the sliding sun-
roof is closed.
The sliding sunroof is closed without the
anti-entrapment feature. Sliding sunroof

If th ebattery voltage is too low, the seat
heating may switch off. Driver's and front-passenger seat
Rear-compartment seats
The system automaticall
yswitches down
from level 3to level 2after approximately
eight minutes.
The system automaticall yswitches down
from level 2to level 1after approximately ten
minutes.
The system automatically switches off
approximately 35 minutes after it is set to
level 1.
X Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button:repeatedly
until the desire dheatin glevel is set.
X To switch off: press button:repeatedly
until all the indicator lam psgo out. Problems with th
eseat heating The seat heating has switched off prema-
turely or cannot be switched on. The vehicle's
electrical system voltage is too low because
too many electrical consumer sare switched
on.
X Switch off electrica lconsumers that you do
not need, such as the rea rwindow heating
or interior lighting. Switching the seat ventilation on/off
Activating/deactivating The three blu
eindicato rlamps in the buttons
indicate the ventilation level you have selec-
ted.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
ventilation may switch off. X
Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button:repeatedly
until the desire dventilation level is set.
i You can open the side windows and the
sliding sunroof using the "Convenience
opening" featur e(Ypage 84). The seat ven-
tilation of the driver' sseat automatically
switches to the highest level.
X To switc hoff:press button :repeatedly
