windscreen wipers are switched on while
wiper blades are being replaced
If th e windscreen wipers begin tomo vewhile
yo u are changing the wiper blades, you can be
trapped bythe wiper arm. #
Always switch o. the windscreen wipers
and vehicle before changing the wiper
blades. *
N NOOTE TE Damage tothe windscreen or rear
wind owduring wiper blade replacement If
th e wiper arm on the windscreen or rear win-
dow is folded back before a wiper blade has
been /t ted, the window may be damaged by

blade has been /tted. Keep hold of the
wiper arm when replacing a wiper blade. *

Hold the wiper arm with one hand. With the
ot her hand, turn the wiper blade in the direc-
tion of ar row 1 awa y from the wiper arm as
fa r as it will go. #

until it engages in there mo val position. #
Remo vethe wiper blade from the wiper arm in
th e direction of ar row 4. F

Insert the new wiper blade into the wiper arm

Make sure that the wiper blade is seated cor-

If th e colour of the maintenance display changes
from black toyello w, the wiper blades should be

The ignition system and the fuel injection sys-

windscreen is being cleaned
If th e windscreen wipers are set in motion
while you are cleaning the windscreen or wiper
blades, you can be trapped bythe wiper arm. #

and the ignition before cleaning the wind-
screen or wiper blades. &

The exhaust tailpipe and tailpipe trims can
become very hot. If you come into contact with
th ese parts of theve hicle, you could burn your-
self. #
Always be particular lycareful around the
ta ilpipe and theta ilpipe trims and super-
vise children especially closely in this
area. #
Allow vehicle parts tocool down before
to uching them. *
N NOOTE TE Damage caused bythe use of open-
ings in the bodywork or de tach able part as
a step Using
the lo wer guide of the sliding door (car-
ri age) as a step can damage the trim and/or
mechanism of the sliding door. #
Do not use the guide of the sliding door
(car riage) as a step. %
Information on suitable cleaning agents or
cleaning clo ths can be obtained from a quali-
/ed specialist workshop.
To prev ent damage totheve hicle, obser vethe

R Use water and acid-free alloy wheel cleaner.
R Do not use acidic alloy wheel cleaners to
re mo vebrake dust. Otherwise, wheel bolts and
brake components could be damaged.
R Toavo id cor rosion of brake discs and brake-
pads, drive for a few minutes aTer cleaning
before parking theve hicle. The brake discs and
brakepads warm up and dry out.

R Clean the windo wsinside and outside with a
damp clo thand with a cleaning agent recom-
mended for Mercedes-Benz.
R Do not use dry clo ths, abrasive cleaning agents
or cleaners containing sol vents toclean the
inside of windo ws.

wiper blades with a damp clo th (/ page 118).
