Please read the instructions on thefire extin‐
guisher carefully and familiarise yourself with its
operation. Ha vethefire extinguisher refilled af ter
each use and checkedeve ryone or two years. It
may otherwise fail in an emer gency.

dent site in places that are dif ficult toaccess.
The emer gency call can be trig gered automati‐
cally (/ page 233).
Yo u also ha vethe option of triggering the emer‐
ge ncy call manually (/ page 234). Only make emergency calls if
you or others are in need of
re scue. Do not make an emer gency call in the
eve nt of a breakdown or a similar situation.

a malfunction with the emer gency call sy stem.
This does not necessarily indicate a totalfailure

by the on-board computer. In this case, do not
re duce the tyre pressures.

The de
term ined vehicle speed is displa yed in the
instrument clus ter and is impor tant for control‐
ling the driving saf ety sy stems and driving sys‐
te ms. The display accuracy of the speedome ter
and the odome ter is legally prescribed. De term in‐
ing the speed is dependent on the tyre size or the
ro lling circumference of the tyres. The rim diame‐
te r is alw ays specified in inches.

out recoding the cont rol units in theve hicle, the
speedome ter will not display the speed accu‐
ra tely. Driving saf ety sy stems and driving sy stems
may then be operationally impaired or may de tect
a malfunction and switch themselves off.

Check tyre pressures regularly and only when the
tyres are cold.

passenger airbag is disabled

The front passenger must get out of theve hicle. #
Make sure that the front passenger seat is unoccupied, close
th e front passenger door and switch on the ignition. #
Obser vethePA SSENGER AIRB AGOFF indicator lamp on the
centre console and the display messages. #
With th e seat unoccupied and the ignition switched on, check
th efo llowing:
R The PASSENGER AIRB AGOFF indicator lamp must light up
continuously. If the indicator lamp is lit, the automatic front
passenger airbag actuation has disabled the front passenger
airbag (/ page 33).
R The display must not show the messages Front-passenger
airbag enabled See Owner's Manual orFront-passenger air-
bag disabled See Owner's Manual . #
Waitfor at least one minute until the necessary sy stem checks
ha ve been comple ted. #
Ensure that the display does not show either of the two display
messages about the front passenger airbag.
If th ese conditions are met, the front passenger seat can be occu‐
pied again.
If th ese conditions are not met, the automatic front passenger air‐
bag actuation is malfunctioning. #
