Outside rear-view mirrors

The outside rear-view mirrors can be operated
when
the ignition switch or the operation mode is
in ON or ACC. WARNING
l Do
not attempt to adjust the rear-view
mirrors while driving. This can be danger-
ous.
Always adjust the mirrors before driving.
l Your vehicle is equipped with convex
type mirrors.
Please take into consideration, that ob-
jects you see in the mirror will look small-
er and farther away compared to a nor-
mal flat mirror.
Do not use this mirror to estimate dis-
tance of following vehicles when changing
lanes. 1. Place
the lever (A) to the same side as the mir-
ror whose adjustment is desired.
Except for vehicles equipped with the mirror
retractor switch
Vehicles equipped with the mirror retractor switch L- Left outside mirror adjustment
R- Right outside mirror adjustment

the switch (B) to the left, right, up or
down to adjust the mirror position. 1- Up

Retracting and extending the outside

The outside mirror can be folded in towards the
side

window to prevent damage when parking in
narrow areas. CAUTION
l
Do
not drive the vehicle with the mirror
folded in.
The lack of rearward visibility normally
provided by the mirror could lead to an
accident.

tractor switch]
Push the mirror towards the back of the vehicle
with your hand to retract it in. When extending the
mirror, pull it out towards the front of the vehicle
until it clicks to lock in place. [For
vehicles equipped with the mirror retrac-
tor switch]
Retracting and extending the mirrors using the
mirror retractor switch
With the ignition switch or the operation mode in
ON or ACC, push the mirror retractor switch to re-
tract the mirrors.
Push it again to extend the mirrors to their original

After turning the ignition switch to the “LOCK” po-
sition
or putting the operation mode in OFF, it is
possible to retract and extend the mirrors using the
mirror retractor switch for about 30 seconds. CAUTION
l
It
is possible to retract and extend the mir-
rors by hand. After retracting a mirror us-
ing the mirror retractor switch, however,
you should extend it by using the switch
again, not by hand. If you extended the
mirror by hand after retracting it using
the switch, it would not properly lock in
position. As a result, it could move be-
cause of the wind or vibration while you
are driving, taking away your rearward
visibility.
NOTE l Be

careful not to get your hands trapped
while a mirror is moving. l
If
you move a mirror by hand or it moves af-
ter hitting a person or object, you may not be
able to return it to its original position using
the mirror retractor switch. If this happens,
push the mirror retractor switch to place the
mirror in its retracted position and then push
the switch again to return the mirror to its orig-
inal position.
l When freezing has occurred and mirrors fail
to operate as intended, please refrain from re-
peated pushing of the retractor switch as this
action can result in burn-out of the mirror mo-
tor circuits.
Retracting and extending the mirrors without us-
ing the mirror retractor switch
[Vehicles with keyless entry system]
The mirrors automatically retract or extend when
the doors are locked or unlocked using the remote
control switches of the keyless entry system.
Refer to “Keyless entry system” on page 1-04.
[Vehicles with keyless operation system]
The mirrors automatically retract or extend when
the doors are locked or unlocked using the remote
control switches or the keyless operation function
of the keyless operation system.
Refer to “Keyless operation system: To operate us-
ing the keyless operation function, Keyless entry
system” on pages 1-09 and 1-18. NOTE
l Functions
can be modified as stated below.

On vehicles equipped with MITSUBISHI
Multi-Communication System (MMCS),
screen operations can be used to make the ad-
justment. Refer to the separate owner’s man-
ual for details. • Automatically extend when the followingoperation is performed.

less operation system]
Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” or
“ACC” position.
[Vehicles equipped with keyless opera-
tion system]
Put the operation mode in ON or ACC.
• Automatically retract when the driver’s door is opened after turning the ignition
switch to the “LOCK” position or putting
the operation mode in OFF.
• Automatically extend when the vehicle speed reaches 30 km/h (19 mph).
• Deactivate the automatic extension func- tion.

press the rear window demister switch.

indication lamp (A) will illuminate while the

Do not connect to the USB input terminal
any device (hard disk, card reader, memory
reader, etc.) other than the connectable devi-
ces specified in the previous section.
The device and/or data may be damaged. If
any of these devices was connected by mis-
take, remove it after turning the ignition
switch to the “LOCK” position or putting the
operation mode in OFF.

Vanity mirror
Type 1
A vanity mirror is fitted to the back of the sun visor.
Operating the lid of the vanity mirror will automat-
ically turn on the mirror lamp (A). CAUTION
l
If
the lid of vanity mirror with lamp is
kept open for prolonged periods of time,
the vehicle’s battery will be discharged.
Type 2
A
vanity mirror is fitted to the back of the sun visor. Card holder

can be slipped into the holder (B) on the
back of the sun visor. For pleasant driving

CAUTION
• When washing around the door glass,
hold the nozzle at a distance of more
than 70 cm and at right angles to the
glass surface.
l After washing the vehicle, drive the vehi-
cle slowly while lightly depressing the
brake pedal several times in order to dry
out the brakes.
Leaving the brakes wet could result in re-
duced braking performance. Also, there
is a possibility that they could freeze up
or become inoperative due to rust, render-
ing the vehicle unable to move.
l When using an automatic car wash, pay
attention to the following items, referring
to the operation manual or consulting a
car wash operator. If the following proce-
dure is not followed, it could result in dam-
age to your vehicle.
• The outside mirrors are retracted.
• The antenna is removed.
• The wiper arms are secured in placewith tape.
• If your vehicle is equipped with a rear spoiler or roof rails, consult a car
wash operator before using the car
wash.
• If your vehicle has rain sensor wipers, place the wiper switch lever in the
“OFF” position to deactivate the rain
sensor. During cold weather
Salt

and other chemicals spread on the roads in
some areas in winter can have a harmful effect on
the vehicle body. You should therefore wash the ve-
hicle as often as possible in accordance with our
care-instructions. It is recommended to have a pres-
ervative applied and the underfloor protection
checked before and after the cold weather season.
After washing your vehicle, wipe off all water-
drops from the rubber parts around the doors to pre-
vent the doors from freezing.
NOTE
l To prevent freezing of the weatherstripping
on the doors, bonnet, etc., they should be trea-
ted with silicone spray.

Waxing the vehicle will help prevent the adherence
of

dust and road chemicals to the paintwork. Apply
a wax solution after washing the vehicle, or at least
once every three months to assist displacing of water.
Do not wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. You
should wax after the surfaces have cooled. CAUTION
l
Waxes
containing high abrasive com-
pounds should not be used. Such waxes re-
move rust and stains effectively from the
paintwork but they are harmful to the lus-
tre on the painted surface and the plated
surface.
Further, they are harmful to glossy surfa-
ces such as grille, garnish, mouldings, etc. CAUTION
l
Do
not use petrol or paint thinners to re-
move road tar or other contamination to
the painted surface.
l Do not apply wax to sections that have a
black mat paint coating, as doing so
could cause uneven discolouration, spots
or stains. If wax gets on such areas, wipe
it off using lukewarm water and a soft
cloth.

The vehicle should only be polished if the paint-
work

has become stained or lost its lustre. Do not
polish parts with a mat coating and the plastic bump-
ers. Doing so could cause stains or damage the finish.

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coat should
be

touched up as soon as possible with
MITSUBISHI touch-up paint to prevent corrosion.
Check body areas facing the road or the tyres care-
fully for damage to the paint caused by gravels,
etc. The paint code number for your vehicle can be
found on the vehicle information code plate in the
engine compartment.

Use a sponge or chamois leather.
If

a car wax adheres on a grey or black rough sur-
face of the bumper, moulding or lamps, the surface
becomes white. In such a case, wipe it off using
