The rear window wiper and washer switch can be
operated with the ignition switch in the “ON” or
“ACC” position.
Turn the knob, and the rear window wiper and wash-
er will operate. -The wiper operates continuously for sev-
eral seconds then operates intermittently
at intervals of about every 8 seconds. -Off -The washer fluid will be sprayed onto
the rear window when the knob is turned
fully in either direction.
The wipers operate automatically several
times while the washer fluid is being
sprayed.
NOTE
l It is possible to change the behaviour of func-
tions as detailed below. For details, we rec-
ommend you to consult a MITSUBISHI
MOTORS Authorized Service Point. •It is possible to disable the function that
causes the wipers to operate every time
washer fluid is sprayed.
• It is possible to change the operating in-
terval for intermittent operation of the

lIf the moving wipers become blocked by ice
or other deposits on the glass, the motor may
burn out even if the wiper switch is turned to
OFF. If obstruction occurs, park your vehicle
in a safe place, turn off the ignition, and
clean the deposits from the glass so that the
wipers operate smoothly.
l Do not use the wipers when the glass is dry.
They may scratch the glass surface or the
blades may prematurely wear out.
l Before using the wipers in cold weather,
check that the wiper blades are not frozen on-
to the glass. The motor may burn out if the
wipers are used with the blades frozen onto
the glass.
l Avoid using the washer continuously for
more than 20 seconds. Do not operate the
washer when the fluid reservoir is empty.
Otherwise, the motor may burn out.
l Periodically check the level of washer fluid
in the reservoir and refill if required.
During cold weather, add a recommended
washer solution that will not freeze in the
washer reservoir. Failure to do so could re-
sult in loss of washer function and frost dam-
age to the system components.
Rear window demister switch E00507900990
The rear window demister switch can be operated
with the ignition switch in the “ON” position.
Push the switch to turn on the rear window demis-
ter. It will be turned off automatically in about 20
minutes. To turn off the demister within about 20
minutes, push the switch again.
The indication lamp (A) will illuminate while the
demister is on.
NOTE
l If your vehicle is equipped with heated mir-
rors, these operate in conjunction with the de-
mister. Refer to “Heated mirror” on page
4-09.
CAUTIONl The demister switch is not to melt snow
but to clear mist. Remove snow before
use of the demister switch.

The lever (A) at the bottom of the mirror can be
used to adjust the mirror to reduce the glare from
the headlamps of vehicles behind you during night
driving.
1- Normal
2- Anti-glare
WARNINGl Do not attempt to adjust the rear-view
mirrors while driving. This can be danger-
ous.

Compound curved-surface mirror
(LHD vehicles only)
On the driver’s seat side, a compound curved-sur-
face mirror is used, while on the front passenger’s
seat side, a single curvedsurface mirror is used.
1- Compound curved-surface mirror

While the single curved-surface mirror has a fixed
curvature, the compound curved-surface mirror has
different curvatures between the inner and outer
sides of the boundary line (A).
The inner side of the boundary line provides the
same vision as that available from an ordinary door
mirror.
However, the outer side of the boundary line pro-
vides a wider vision than an ordinary door mirror.
WARNINGl The sense of distance that you get from
an object you see on the inner side of the
mirror boundary line differs from the
sense of distance that you get from an ob-
ject you see on the outer side.
An object you see on the outer side of the
boundary line of the mirror will look far-
ther away than actually is (farther away
than if you see in a normal flat mirror) as
compared with an object you see on the in-

mirrors while driving. This can be danger-
ous.
Always adjust the mirrors before driving.
l Your vehicle is equipped with convex
type mirrors.
Please take into consideration. Objects
you see in the mirror will look smaller
and farther away compared to a normal
flat mirror.
Do not use this mirror to estimate dis-
tance of following vehicles when changing
lanes.

Electric remote-controlled outside rear-view mir-

The electric remote-controlled outside rear-view
mirrors can be operated when the ignition switch is
in the “ON” or “ACC” position. 1.Turn the switch to the same side as the mir-
ror whose adjustment is desired.
L- Left outside mirror adjustment
R- Right outside mirror adjustment
NOTE l After adjustment, return the switch to centre
position.

The outside mirror can be folded in towards the
side window to prevent damage when parking in

When the rear window demister switch is pressed,
the outside rear-view mirrors are demisted or de-
frosted. Current will flow through the heater ele-
ment inside the mirrors, thus clearing away frost or
condensation.

Accessory socket E00711601085
The accessory socket can be used while the igni-
tion switch is in either the “ON” or “ACC” position.
Open the cap to uncover the socket. Use it to plug
in an electrical device.CAUTIONl Be sure to use a “plug-in” type accessory
operating at 12 V and at 120 W or less.
When using the socket, make sure the to-
tal power consumption of the electrical ac-
cessories does not exceed 120 W at 12 V.
Also be aware that using electronic equip-
ment with the engine off may run the bat-
tery down.
l When the accessory socket is not in use,
be sure to close the cap, because the sock-
et might become clogged by foreign mate-
rial and be short-circuited.NOTE
l Long use of the electric appliance without run-
ning the engine may run down the battery.

cle slowly while lightly depressing the
brake pedal several times in order to dry
out the brakes.
Leaving the brakes wet could result in re-
duced braking performance. Also, there
is a possibility that they could freeze up
or become inoperative due to rust, render-
ing the vehicle unable to move.
l When using an automatic car wash, pay
attention to the following items, referring
to the operation manual or consulting a
car wash operator. If the following proce-
dure is not followed, it could result in dam-
age to your vehicle. • The outside mirrors are retracted.
• The antenna is removed.
• The rear wiper arm assembly is taped
or removed.
• If your vehicle is equipped with a rear
spoiler, consult a car wash operator be-
fore using the car wash.
• If your vehicle has rain sensor wipers,
place the wiper switch lever in the
“
” (OFF) position to deactivate the
rain sensor.
During cold weather
Salt and other chemicals spread on the roads in
some areas in winter can have a harmful effect on
the vehicle body. You should therefore wash the ve-
hicle as often as possible in accordance with our
care-instructions. It is recommended to have a pres-
ervative applied and the underfloor protection
checked before and after the cold weather season.
After washing your vehicle, wipe off all water-
drops from the rubber parts around the doors to pre-
vent the doors from freezing.
NOTE l To prevent freezing of the weatherstripping
on the doors, bonnet, etc., they should be trea-
ted with silicone spray.Waxing E00901000717
Waxing the vehicle will help prevent the adherence
of dust and road chemicals to the paintwork. Apply
a wax solution after washing the vehicle, or at least
once every three months to assist displacing of water.
Do not wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. You
should wax after the surfaces have cooled.
CAUTIONl Waxes containing high abrasive com-
pounds should not be used. Such waxes re-
move rust and stains effectively from the
paintwork but they are harmful to the lus-
tre on the painted surface and the plated
surface.
Further, they are harmful to glossy surfa-
ces such as grille, garnish, mouldings, etc.
l Do not use petrol or paint thinners to re-
move road tar or other contamination to
the vehicle surface.
l Do not apply wax on the areas having
black mat coating as it can cause uneven
discolouration, patches, blurs, etc. If
stained with wax, immediately wipe off
with a piece of soft cloth and warm water.Polishing E00901100011
The vehicle should only be polished if the paint-
work has become stained or lost its lustre. Matt-fin-
ish parts and plastic bumpers must not be polished,
polishing these parts will stain them or damage

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coat should
be touched up as soon as possible with
MITSUBISHI touch-up paint to prevent corrosion.
Check body areas facing the road or the tyres care-
fully for damage to the paint coat caused by flying
stones, etc. The paint code number for your vehicle
can be found on the vehicle information code plate
on the door sill.

Use a sponge or chamois leather.
If a car wax adheres on a grey or black rough sur-
face of the bumper, moulding or lamps, the surface
becomes white. In such a case, wipe it off using
lukewarm water and soft cloth or chamois leather.
CAUTIONl Do not use a scrubbing brush or other
hard tools as they may damage the plastic
part surface.
l Do not use wax containing compound (pol-
ishing powder) which may damage the
plastic part surface.
