niques permit you to operate your new vehi-cle without requiring a long break-in periodof low-speed driving.However, you can add to the future perfor-mance and economy of your vehicle byobserving the following precautions duringthe first 300 miles (500 km).Drive your vehicle at m
oderate speeds during
the break-in period.Avoid revving the engine.Avoid rough driving such as sudden starts,sudden accelerati
on, prolonged high-
speed driving and sudden braking. Theseactions would have a detrimental effect onthe engine and lead to increased fuel andoil consumption; th

result in the malfunction of engine com-ponents. Be particularly careful to avoidfull acceleration while in low shift posi-tion (low gears).Do not overload the vehicle. an invalid start is

electronics.

shi Motors dealer by
referring to the key number.To prevent vehicle theft, the ID code for thevehicle keys must be changed.
Take your vehicle and
all remaining keys to
your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer tohave your ID code changed.To add a key, you must already have 2 regis-tered keys. You need to register the ID codeto the vehicle.Registering the ID code can be done by your-self (except for vehicles

Turn the key to the “OFF” or “LOCK”position and remove the first key.3. Within 30 seconds of removing the firstkey, insert the second valid key into theignition and turn it to the “ON” position.About 10 seconds la

display will start to blink.
4. When the immobilizer display startsblinking, turn the second valid key to the“OFF” or “LOCK” position and removeit. Within 30 seconds after doing so, inserta blank immobilizer ke
y into the ignition
switch and turn it to the “ON” position.Perform this operation no more than 30seconds after the immobilizer displaystarts blinking. When registration of theID code is complete, the immobilizer dis-play will come on for 30 seconds then gooff. If an error occurs, the blinking immo-bilizer display will
go off during the pro-

Within approximately 2 seconds, press theUNLOCK button one more time to unlock allthe doors and liftgate.The dome light will turn on for 30 seconds.The turn signal lights will also blink twice.The front side-marker and parking lights willalso turn on for approximately 30 seconds.Refer to “Welcome light” on page 5-215.
Within 30 seconds of locking the doors andliftgate using the LOCK button, press theLOCK button twice rapidly to retract the out-side rearview mirrors.Within 30 seconds of unlocking the doors andliftgate using the UNLOCK button, press theUNLOCK button twice rapidly to return theoutside rearview mirrors to their extendedpositions.The outside rearview mirrors are not initiallyset to work as described above. If you wantthem to work as described above, you need toset them so that they do not retract/extendwhen the doors and liftgate arelocked/unlocked using
the keyless entry sys-

possible to change
the setting by means of
screen operations.

Procedure for replacing the remote control transmitter bat-tery

2. Remove the screw (A) from the remotecontrol transmitter.3. With the Mitsubishi mark facing you,insert the cloth-cov-ered tip of a flat bladescrewdriver into the notch in the remotecontrol transmitter case and use it to openthe case.
4. Remove the old battery.
5. Install a new battery with the +side (B)up.6. Close the remote control transmitter casefirmly.7. Attach the screw (A) removed in step 2.8. Check the keyless entry system to see thatit works.
NOTE
Be sure to perform the procedure with theMitsubishi mark facing you. If the Mitsubi-shi mark is not facing you when you open theremote control transmitter case, the buttonsmay come out.The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) ID number, the Industry Canada (IC)number and the model
number (radio certifi-
cation) are indicated in
the illustrated posi-
tion.
