1. Before replacing the battery, remove staticelectricity from your body by touching ametal grounded object.2. With the Mitsubishi mark facing you,insert the cloth-covered tip of a flat bladescrewdriver into the notch in the case anduse it to open the case.3. Remove the old battery.
If the UNLOCK button (2) is pressed whenall doors and the liftgate are locked and nodoors or the liftgate are opened withinapproximately 30 seconds, the doors and theliftgate will automatically re-lock.On a vehicle equipped with the SmartphoneLink Display Audio, the functions can beadjusted on the screen. For details, refer tothe separate owner’s manual.If the following conditions are observed afterpressing the LOCK (1) or UNLOCK (2) but-ton on the remote control transmitter, thebattery in the F.A.S.T.-key may need to bereplaced.• The doors and the liftgate cannot be lockedor unlocked.• The panic alarm
cannot be operated.
• The indicator light
(5) is dim or does not
come on.
If you lose your F.A.S.T.-key, please contactan authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for areplacement.If you wish to obtain an additional F.A.S.T.-key, please contact an
authorized Mitsubishi
Motors dealer. A maximum of four F.A.S.T.-key can be programmed for your vehicle.To use the new remote control transmitters, itis necessary to register the key with both theelectronic immobilizer

noxide (CO) gas can
enter the passenger compartment.CO is an invisible, odorless gas that cancause unconsciousness and even death.When opening and cl
osing the liftgate,
make sure that there are no people nearbyand be careful not to hit your head orpinch your hands, neck, etc.If snow or ice has ac
cumulated on the lift-
gate, remove it before
opening the liftgate.
Otherwise the liftgate may abruptly closedue to the weight of the snow or ice.
When opening the lift
gate, always fully
open it. A partially opened liftgate canunexpectedly close due to its own weight.When the vehicle is parked on a slope, theeffort required to open or close the liftgatemay be greater or less than expected.The liftgate may also open or close morequickly.CAUTIONDo not stand behind the exhaust pipe whenloading and unloading
luggage. Heat from
the exhaust could lead to burns.To avoid damage to the liftgate, make surethat area above and behind the liftgate isclear before opening it.NOTE
Locking and unlocking the doors by usingpower door locks (driver and front passengerside), keyless entry system, or F.A.S.T.-keyoperation (vehicles
equipped with the
F.A.S.T.-key) also locks and unlocks the lift-gate.

CAUTIONDo not apply excessive force to the powerliftgate when opening or closing it. Doing socould damage to th

NOTE
Do not start the engine while the power lift-gate is operating. The sudden operation pre-vention mechanism c
ould operate, making
the power liftgate stop intermittently while itmoves.The power liftgate cannot be opened whenthe battery is discha
rged or disconnected.

onds to notify the
driver that the power liftgate is open.If the battery or fuse is replaced while thepower liftgate is open,
it cannot be closed

After unlocking the doors and the power lift-gate, the power liftgate can be operated bypressing the switch (A) of the F.A.S.T.-key orthe driver’s side power liftgate switch (B).
If the power liftgate switch is pressed twice ina row, the power liftgate operates after thewarning buzzer sounds and the hazard warn-ing flasher blinks.The power liftgate operates as follows:
If the power liftgate switch is pressed oncewhile the power liftgate is operating, thewarning buzzer sounds an

reverse and return to

being trapped by the cl
osing power liftgate,
the warning buzzer will sound once and theliftgate will automatically reverse directionand return to the full open position.

Opening the power liftgate using the open switch

NOTE
When you are carrying the F.A.S.T.-key withthe power liftgate is locked, the power lift-gate can be opened by pressing the openswitch even if the power liftgate is locked.For vehicles equipped w
ith the mirror retrac-
tor switch, the outside rearview mirrors auto-matically extend when the power liftgate andall doors are unlocked using the liftgate openswitch (C).
