NOTE●
To prevent wind noise or reduction in fuel economy, remove the roof carrier when not in use.

Before using an automatic car wash, remove the roof car- rier.
●
Be sure that adequate clearance is maintained for raising the sunroof (if so equipped) wh
en installing a roof carrier.
Trailer towing
E00610000039
In order to tow a trailer with your vehicle, when having a trailer towing device mounted that meets all relevant regulations in your area, consult a MITSUBISHI
MOTORS Authorized Serv-
ice Point. The regulations concerning the towing of a trailer may differ from country to country. You are advised to obey the regula-tions in each area.
CAUTION
!●
Danger of Accident! A towing bar should be
fitted according to MIT-
SUBISHI MOTORS guidelines. When you are going to tow a trailer, move the trans-fer shift lever to “4H” position. Selecting the “2H” drive ma
y increase the differen-
tial oil temperature, result
ing in possible damage to
the driving system. Further, the drive train will be subjected to excessive loading possibly leading to oil leakage, componentseizure, or other serious faults.

Maximum towable weight with brake and maxi- mum trailer-nose weightNever exceed the maximum towabl
e weight with brake and the
maximum trailer-nose weight as
listed in the specifications.
(Refer to “Vehicle weight” on page 9-7.)If you tow a trailer at an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea-level, reduce your weight by 10 % of the gross combina- tion weight for every increase
of 1,000 m above sea-level, as
the engine output is lowered owing to decrease in atmospheric pressure.
Towing bar mounting specificationsSee the following table for fixing points (A) for the towing bar.

For quick demisting
1. Push the demister switch (A) to change to the “ ” posi-
tion.
2. Set the blower to the maximum speed. 3. Set the temperature to the highest position.NOTE●
When the demister switch is
pressed, the air conditioning
will operate automatically and the outside air position will also be selected automatically. (In this case, the air conditioning indication lamp will not change.)
●
To demist effectively, direct
the air flow from the side
ventilators towards the door windows.
●
Do not set the temperature control dial to the max. cool position. Cool air will blow against the window glassesand prevent demisting.
Rear heater* / Rear air conditioning
*E00704600015
The rear heater can be operated when the ignition switch is in the “ON” position. The rear air conditioning can only be used while the engine isrunning and the front air conditioning is switched on. When the front air conditioning is

In the following circumstan
ces, moisture can form on
discs and inside the audio system, preventing normal operation. • When there is high humidity (for example, when it israining). • When the temperature suddenly
rises, such as right after
the heater is turned on in cold weather. In this case, wait until the moisture has had time to dry out.
●
When the CD player is subj
ected to violent vibrations,
such as during off-road dr
iving, the tracking may not
work.
●
When storing compact discs,
always store them in their
separate cases. Never place compact discs in direct sun-light, or in any place where th
e temperature or humidity is
high.
●
Never touch the flat surface of the disc without a label. This will damage the disc surface and could affect the sound quality. When handling a compact disc, alwayshold it by the outer
edge and the centre hole.
●
To clean a disc, use a soft, cl
ean, dry cloth. Wipe directly
from the centre hole toward the outer edge. Do not wipe in a circle. Never use any chemicals such as benzine, paint thinner, a disc spray cleaner, or
an anti-static agent on the
disc.
●
Do not use a ball point pen, felt pen, pencil, etc. to write on the label surface of the disc.

To remove the spare tyre
E00803300016
1. Open the backdoor. 2. Open the lids (A) inside of the backdoor.
CAUTION
!●
Grasp the spare wheel firmly when removing or attaching it.
●
When removing the spare wheel, put on gloves. Removing the spare wheel with your bare hands may cause injury to the fingers.
●
The tyre pressure should
be periodically checked
and maintained at the speci
fied pressure while the
tyre is stowed.Driving with an insufficient tyre pressure can lead to an accident. If you have no choice but to drive with an insufficient tyre pres
sure, keep your speed down
and inflate the tyre to the
correct pressure as soon as
possible. (Refer to “Tyre
inflation pressures” on
page 8-19.)

If your vehicle needs to be towedIf towing is necessary, we recommend you to have it done by your MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service Point or a commercial tow truck service. In the following cases, transpor
t the vehicle using a tow truck.
●
The engine runs but the vehicle does not move or abnor- mal noise is produced.
●
Inspection of the vehicle’s underside reveals that oil or some other fluid is leaking.
If a wheel gets stuck in a ditch, do not try to tow the vehicle. Please contact your author
ized MITSUBISHI MOTORS
Authorized Service Point or a commercial tow truck service for assistance. Only when you cannot receive
a towing service from a MIT-
SUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service Point or commercial tow truck service, tow your ve
hicle carefully in accordance
with the instructions given in “Emergency towing” in this part. The regulations concerning towing may differ from country to country. It is recommended that
you obey the regulations of the
area where you are dr
iving your vehicle.
CAUTION
!●
The spare wheel should al
ways be secured during
vehicle operation. If a flat tyre is changed, put the flat tyre in the spare wh
eel mounting position, and
use the wheel nut wrench to secure it firmly.

Towing the vehicle by a tow truck
CAUTION
!●
This vehicle must not be towed by a tow truck using sling lift type equipment
(Type A) as illustrated.
Using a sling lift will damage the bumper and front end.
●
Be sure to shift the tran
sfer shift lever to the “2H”
position and transport the vehicle with the driving wheels on a carriage (Type C, D or E) as illustrated.Never try to tow with the
transfer shift lever in the
“4H”, “4HLC” or “4LLC” positions and with the front or rear wheels on the ground (Type B or TypeC) as illustrated. This coul
d result in the driving sys-
tem damage or vehicle may
jump at the carriage. If
you cannot shift the transf
er shift lever to the “2H”
position or the transmission is malfunctioning or damaged, transport the ve
hicle with the all wheels
on a carriage (Type D or E) as illustrated.
●
If you tow a vehicle with
automatic transmission
with the driving wheels on
the ground (Type B) as
illustrated, make sure that
the towing speed and dis-
tance given below are ne
ver exceeded, causing dam-
age to the transmission. Towing speed: 50 km/h (31 mph) Towing distance: 50 km (31 miles) For the towing speed and th
e towing distance, follow
the local driving laws and regulations.

Towing with front wheels off the ground (Type B)Place the gearshift lever in the
“N” (Neutral) position (manual
transmission) or the selector
lever in the “N” (NEUTRAL)
position (automatic transmission). Release the parking brake.
Towing with rear wheels off the ground (Type C)Place the gearshift lever in the “N” (Neutral) position (manualtransmission) or the selector
lever in the “N” (NEUTRAL)
position (automatic transmission). Turn the ignition key to the “ACC” position and secure the
steering wheel in a straight-
ahead position w
ith a rope or tie-down
strap. Never place the
ignition switch in the “LOCK” position when towing.
CAUTION
!●
Never tow an automatic transmission vehicle with the front wheels up (and the rear wheels on theground) (Type B) when the automatic transmission fluid level is low. This may cause serious and expen- sive damage to the transmission.
CAUTION
!●
As your vehicle equipped with the Active Stability & Traction Control system (A
STC) is towed with the
ignition switch in the “ON” position and only thefront wheels or only the rear wheels raised off the ground, the active traction control system may oper- ate, resulting in an accident.
