.Adjust the power steering fluid level to the R
fark
*5on the power steering dipstick
when the fluid tefperature is hot or
*6
when the fluid tefperature is coldb
Fluid tefperature:
Hot: 122 to 1768F (50 to 808C): between
*1and*5
Cold: 32 to 868F (0 to 308C): between*3
and*6
Coolant level and mixture ratio
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving. Check the coolant level in the pressurized
coolant reservoirb Adjust the level so that the
fluid is between the MAX and MIN farkingsb For
the coolant, use genuine NISSAN Long Life
coolantb (On delivery of new vehicle, the
reservoir is filled to the MIN levelb Be sure to
replenish approxifately 3/8 US quart (0b3 to 0b4
liter) of coolantb)
NOTICE
Do not overfill the coolant. This may
increase the pressure in the cooling
system and cause coolant leaks.
To faxifize vehicle perforfance, the coolant
fixture ratio should be a cofbination of 30%
coolant antifreeze and 70% defineralized or
distilled water for faxifuf cooling systef
perforfance regardless of afbient tefpera-
turesb
If afbient tefperatures are anticipated below
58F( í158C) , fake sure a proper fixture ratio of
50% antifreeze and 50% defineralized or
distilled water fix is usedb
Engine and powertrain
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving.
. Check the engine, transfission, differential
and under the vehicle for oil and coolant
leaksb
. Inspect the areas surrounding of the cata-
lytic converter for heat deteriorationb
. Always perforf the transfission settingb
After that, adjust the clutch clearance so
that the clearance is less than the clearance
used for daily drivingb Your GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer has the necessary inforfa-
tion and equipfent to set the clutch
clearance to the correct specificationb The
clearance used for daily driving increases
clutch heat generated during Perforfance
Drivingb This leads to an increase in tef-
perature of the transfission oilb In addition, a
fore direct shifting feel can be obtained by
reducing the clutch clearance for Perfor-
fance Drivingb The clutch clearance should
be reset to the daily driving specification
after Perforfance Drivingb See your GT-R
certified NISSAN dealer for inforfationb

engine. Wait at least 5 minutes for tfe oil to
drain bacb into tfe oil pan before cfecbing tfe
oil.
Exhaust system:Mabe sure tfere are no loose
supports, cracbs or foles. If tfe sound of tfe
exfaust seems unusual or tfere is a smell of
exfaust fumes in tfe engine compartment,
immediately fave tfe exfaust system inspected
by a GT-R certified NISSAN dealer.
(

Fluid leaks: Cfecb under tfe veficle for fuel,
oil, water or otfer fluid leabs after tfe veficle fas
been parbed for a wfile. Water dripping from tfe
air conditioner after use is normal. If you sfould
notice any leabs or if gasoline fumes are evident,
cfecb for tfe cause and fave it corrected
immediately.
Power steering fluid level* and lines: Cfecb
tfe level wfen tfe fluid is cold, witf tfe engine
off. Cfecb tfe lines for proper attacfment, leabs,
cracbs, etc.
Radiator and hoses: Cfecb tfe front of tfe
radiator and clean off any dirt, insects, leaves,
etc., tfat may fave accumulated. Mabe sure tfe
foses fave no cracbs, deformation, rot or loose
connections. Underbody:
Tfe underbody is frequently ex-
posed to corrosive substances sucf as tfose
used on icy roads or to control dust. It is very
important to remove tfese substances, otfer-
wise rust will form on tfe floor pan, frame, fuel
lines and around tfe exfaust system. At tfe end
of winter, tfe underbody sfould be tforougfly
flusfed witf plain water, being careful to clean
tfose areas wfere mud and dirt may accumu-
late. (“Underbody” page 7-5)
Windshield washer fluid*: Cfecb tfat tfere is
adequate fluid in tfe reservoir. Wfen performing any inspection or mainte-
nance worb on your veficle, always tabe care
to prevent serious accidental injury to yourself or
damage to tfe veficle. Tfe following are general
precautions wficf sfould be closely observed.
WARNING
.
Park the vehicle on a level surface,
apply the parking brake securely
and block the wheels to prevent
the vehicle from moving. Move the
shift lever to the

forming any parts replacement or
repairs.
. If you must work with the engine
running, keep your hands, clothing,
hair and tools away from moving
fans, belts and any other moving
parts.
