VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM

The vehicle security systemprovides visualand
audio alarmsignals ifsomeone opensthedoors,
or lift gate when thesystem isarmed. Itis not,
however, amotion detection typesystem that
activates whenavehicle ismoved orwhen a
vibration occurs.
The system helpsdetervehicle theftbutcannot prevent
it,nor can itprevent thetheft ofinterior
or exterior vehiclecomponents inall situations.
Always secureyourvehicle evenifparking fora
brief period. Neverleaveyourkeys inthe vehicle,
and always lockitwhen unattended. Beaware
of your surroundings, andpark insecure, well-lit
areas whenever possible.
Many devices offeringadditional protection,

hot (right) position.
. To remove frostfromtheoutside surface of
the windshield quickly,turn thetemperature
control dialtothe maximum hotposition and
the fanspeed control
dial tothe
maximum position. .
When the
position isselected, theair
conditioner willautomatically turnon.This
will dehumidify theairand help todefog the
windows.
Bi-level heating:

This mode directs coolairfrom theside and
center ventsandwarm airfrom thefoot outlets.
When thetemperature controldialisturned to
the maximum hotorcool position, theair
between theventilators andthefoot outlets is
the same temperature.

position.

desired position.

. Speed Sensitive Vol.
T o change theSpeed Sensitive Volume
(Speed Sensitive Vol.) level from off(0) to
5, turn theTUNE´FOLDER knob.
. AUX Vol.
Controls thevolume levelofincoming sound
when anauxiliary deviceisconnected tothe
system. Choose asetting between +1and
+3 orchoose 0to disable thefeature
entirely .
. Brightness andContrast
Adjust thebrightness andcontrast ofthe
screen.
Select ªBrightnessº orªContrastº usingthe
TUNE´FOLDER knobandthen push the
ENTER/SETTING button.Turn the
TUNE´FOLDER knobtoadjust thebright-
ness andcontrast ofthe screen tothe preferred
level.
. Clock Adjust
Adjust theclock according tothe following
procedure.

Jack -uppoint
1. Place thejack directly underthejack-up
point asillustrated sothe top ofthe jack
contacts thevehicle atthe jack-up point.
Align thejack head between thetwo
notches inthe front orthe rear asshown.
Also fitthe groove ofthe jack head between
the notches asshown.
The jack should beused onlevel firm
ground.

2. Loosen eachwheel nutone ortwo turns by
turning itcounterclockwise withthewheel
nut wrench. Donot remove thewheel
nuts until thetire isoff the ground.
3. To lift the vehicle, securely holdthejack lever
and rodwith both hands asshown above.
Carefully raisethevehicle untilthetire clears
the ground. Remove thewheel nuts,and
then remove thetire.

Engine oiland filter

1. Place alarge drain panunder thedrain plug.
2. Remove theoilfiller cap.
3. Remove thedrain plugwithawrench and
completely draintheoil.
CAUTION
Be careful nottoburn yourself, asthe
engine oilishot.

Waste oilmust bedisposed of
properly.
.
Check yourlocal regulations.
(Perform steps4to 7only when theengine
oil filter change isneeded.)
4. Loosen theoilfilter withanoilfilter wrench.
Remove theoilfilter byturning itby hand.
5. Wipe theengine oilfilter mounting surface
with aclean rag.
CAUTION
Be sure toremove anyoldgasket
material remaining onthe mounting
surface ofthe engine. Failuretodo so
could leadtoengine damage.
6. Coat thegasket onthe new filter withclean
engine oil.
7. Screw inthe oilfilter clockwise untilaslight
resistance isfelt, then tighten additionally
more than2/3turn.
Oil filter tightening torque:
11 to15 ft-lb
(14.7 to20.5 N´m)
8. Clean andre-install thedrain plugwitha
new washer. Securely tightenthedrain plug
with awrench. Drain
plugtightening torque:
22 to29 ft-lb
(29 to39 N´m)
Do not use excessive force.
9. Refill theengine withtherecommended oil
through theoilfiller opening, andinstall the
oil filler capsecurely .
See ªCapacities andrecommended fluids/
lubricantsº (P.9-2) fordrain andrefill capa-
city .The drain andrefill capacity depends on
the oiltemperature anddrain time.Use
these specifications forreference only.Al-
ways usethedipstick todetermine the
proper amount ofoil inthe engine.
10. Start theengine andcheck forleakage
around thedrain plugandtheoilfilter.
Correct asrequired.
11. Turn theengine offand wait more than10
minutes. Checktheoillevel withthedipstick.
Add engine oilifnecessary .
After theoperation
