8. CHECK OVERDRIVE CONTROL SWITCH
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect A/T device harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T device harness connector termi-
nals. Refer to AT-193, "
Wiring Diagram — AT — NONDTC" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
9. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following.
Harness for short or open between combination meter and A/T device harness connector
Harness for short or open between A/T device harness connector and ground
Combination meter. Refer to DI-5, "COMBINATION METERS" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 10.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
10. CHECK CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION AND WIDE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION SIGNAL CIR-
CUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “TCM INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for A/T with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out “CLOSED THL/SW” and “W/O THRL/P-SW” depressing and releasing accelerator pedal.
Check that the signals of throttle position are indicated properly.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 11.
NG >> Check the following. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.

Check line pressure at stall point with selector lever in “D” position. Refer to AT- 5 6 , "

–Pilot filter
3. Disassemble A/T. Refer to AT- 2 6 8 , "
Disassembly" .
4. Check the following items:
–Forward clutch assembly. Refer to AT-320, "Forward and Overrun Clutches" .
–Low one-way clutch. Refer to AT-268, "Disassembly" .
–Forward one-way clutch. Refer to AT - 3 3 2 , "Rear Internal Gear and Forward Clutch Hub" .
–High clutch assembly. Refer to AT- 3 1 4 , "High Clutch" .
–Torque converter. Refer to AT- 2 6 8 , "Disassembly" .
–Oil pump assembly. Refer to AT-289, "Oil Pump" .

SPEED SENSOR MTR" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Repair or replace vehicle speed sensor·A/T (revolution sensor) and vehicle speed sensor·MTR
circuits.
4. CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.

2. Check the following items:
–Shift valve B
–Shift solenoid valve B

9. CHECK TCM
1. Check TCM input/output signal. Refer to AT - 7 8 , "
TCM Terminals and Reference Value" .
2. If NG, recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
A/T Does Not Shift: D3 → D4UCS005V6
SYMPTOM:
A/T does not shift from D3 to D4 at the specified speed on “Cruise Test — Part 1” and “Cruise Test
— Part 2”.
A/T must be warm before D3 to D4 shift will occur.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SYMPTOM
Check symptom. Refer to AT-59, "
Check at Idle" and AT-61, "Cruise Test — Part 1" .
Are
“Vehicle Does Not Creep Forward in “D”, “2” or “1” Position” and “Vehicle Cannot Be Started from D1 ”
OK?
YES >> GO TO 2.
NO >> Go to AT-205, "
Vehicle Does Not Creep Forward in “D”, “2” or “1” Position" and AT-206, "Ve h ic l e
Cannot Be Started from D1" .
2. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 8 2 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT-90, "Diagnostic Proce-
dure Without CONSULT-II" .
Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnostic results?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT- 8 2 , "SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT -
91, "Judgement of Self-diagnosis Code" .
NO >> GO TO 3.
3. CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR
Check accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to EC-532, "
DTC P2138 APP SENSOR" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Repair or replace accelerator pedal position sensor.
4. CHECK A/T FLUID CONDITION

SYMPTOM:
A/T does not perform lock-up at the specified speed on “Cruise Test — Part 1”.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 8 2 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT-90, "Diagnostic Proce-
dure Without CONSULT-II" .
Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnostic results?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT- 8 2 , "SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT -
91, "Judgement of Self-diagnosis Code" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR
Check accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to EC-532, "
DTC P2138 APP SENSOR" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Repair or replace accelerator pedal position sensor.
3. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
1. Remove control valve. Refer to AT-242, "
Control Valve Assembly and Accumulators" .
2. Check following items:
–Torque converter clutch control valve
–Torque converter clutch solenoid valve
–Torque converter relief valve
–Pilot valve
–Pilot filter
3. Disassemble A/T. Refer to AT-268, "
Disassembly" .
4. Check the following items:
–Torque converter. Refer to AT-268, "Disassembly" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
4. CHECK SYMPTOM
Check again. Refer to AT-61, "
Cruise Test — Part 1" .
OK or NG

5. CHECK TCM

SYMPTOM:
Engine speed does not smoothly return to idle when A/T shifts from D4 to D3 on “Cruise Test — Part
1”.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT-82, "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT-90, "Diagnostic Proce-
dure Without CONSULT-II" .
Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnostic results?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT- 8 2 , "SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT-
91, "Judgement of Self-diagnosis Code" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR
Check accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to EC-532, "

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3
NG >> Check PNP switch. Refer to AT - 1 9 1 , "
PNP SWITCH" .
3. CHECK A/T POSITION
Check A/T position. Refer to AT-234, "
Checking of A/T Position" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Adjust A/T position. Refer to AT- 2 3 3 , "
Adjustment of A/T Position" .
4. CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR·A/T AND VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR·MTR CIRCUIT
Check vehicle speed sensor·A/T (revolution sensor) and vehicle speed sensor·MTR circuit. Refer to AT-107,
"DTC P0720 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR·A/T (REVOLUTION SENSOR)" and/or AT-166, "DTC VEHICLE
SPEED SENSOR MTR" .
OK or NG
