VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR MTR
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR MTRPFP:24814
DescriptionBCS0010M
Vehicle speed sensor·MTR is built into speedometer assembly. Sensor functions is an auxiliary device to the
revolution sensor when it is malfunctioning. TCM will then use a signal sent from vehicle speed sensor·MTR.
CONSULT-II Reference ValueBCS0010N
On Board Diagnosis LogicBCS0010O
Diagnostic trouble code “VHCL SPEED SEN-MTR” with CONSULT-II or 2nd judgement flicker without CON-
SULT-II is detected when TCM does not receive the proper voltage signal from the sensor.
Possible CauseBCS0010P
Harness or connector
(Sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
Vehicle speed sensor
DTC Confirmation ProcedureBCS0010Q
CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
If performing this “DTC Confirmation Procedure” again, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait
at least 10 seconds before continuing.
After the repair, perform the following procedure to confirm that the malfunction is eliminated.
WITH CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “DATA MONITOR” mode for “A/T” with CONSULT-II.
3. Start engine and accelerate vehicle from 0 to 25 km/h (0 to 16
MPH).
4. If DTC is detected, go to AT- 8 8 , "
Diagnostic Procedure" .
WITHOUT CONSULT-II
1. Start engine.
2. Drive vehicle under the following conditions:
Selector lever position: “D” position
Vehicle speed: Higher than 25 km/h (16 MPH)
3. Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 7 6 , "
Diagnostic Procedure Without CONSULT-II" .
4. If the check result is NG, go to AT- 8 8 , "
Diagnostic Procedure" .

TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
Self-diagnosis FunctionBJS000FX
DESCRIPTION
The self-diagnosis system diagnoses sensors, door motors, blower motor, etc. by system line. Refer to appli-
cable sections (items) for details. Shifting from usual control to the self-diagnosis system is accomplished by
starting the engine (turning the ignition switch ON) and pressing A/C switch for at least 5 seconds. The A/C
switch must be pressed within 10 seconds after starting the engine (ignition switch is turned ON). This system
will be canceled by either pressing AUTO switch or turning the ignition switch OFF. Shifting to the next step is
accomplished by means of pressing temperature control switch (driver side), as required.
Additionally sifting from STEP-5 to AUXILIARY MECHANISM is accomplished by means of pressing (fan)
control switch (UP).

TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
AUXILIARY MECHANISM: TEMPERATURE SETTING TRIMMER
The trimmer compensates for differences in range of ±3°C between temperature setting (displayed digitally)
and temperature felt by customer.
Operating procedures for this trimmer are as follows:
1. Begin Self-diagnosis STEP-5 mode. Refer to AT C - 4 6 , "
Self-diagnosis Function" .
2. Press fan control switch (UP) to set system in auxiliary mode.
3. Display shows “61” in auxiliary mechanism. It takes approximately 3 seconds to enable setting operation.
4. Press temperature control switch (driver side) as desired. Temperature will change at a rate of 0.5°C each
time a switch is pressed.
CAUTION:
A decimal point is not indicated during a setup of temperature compensation.
When battery cable is disconnected or battery voltage below 10 V, trimmer operation is canceled. Temperature
set becomes that of initial condition, i.e. 0°C.
