CAUTION:
• When replacing the ABS actuator and electric unit (c ontrol unit), the calibration of the ABS actuator
and electric unit (control unit) is required. Refer to BRC-57, "Description"
.
• Before servicing, disconnect the ba ttery cable from negative terminal.
• To remove brake tubes, use a suitable tool (flare nut wrench) to prevent flare nuts and brake tubes
from being damaged. To install, use su itable tool (flare nut torque wrench).
• Do not apply excessive impact to ABS actuator and elect ric unit (control unit), such as by dropping
it.
• Do not remove and install ABS actuator and el ectric unit (control unit) by holding harness.
• After work is completed, bleed air from brake tubes. Refer to BR-14, "Bleeding Brake System"
.
• After installing harness connector on the ABS act uator and electric unit (control unit), make sure
connector is securely locked.
NOTE:
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc. , cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spill-
ing.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PG-73, "Removal and Installation (Battery)".
2. Remove cowl top and cowl top extensions. Refer to EXT-24, "Removal and Installation"

L TERMINAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)
DescriptionINFOID:0000000009460663
The “L” terminal circuit controls the charge warning
lamp. The charge warning lamp turns ON when the igni-
tion switch is set to ON or START. When the generator is providing sufficient voltage with the engine running,
the charge warning lamp turns OFF. If the charge warn ing lamp illuminates with the engine running, a malfunc-
tion is indicated.
Diagnosis ProcedureINFOID:0000000009460664
Regarding Wiring Diagram information. Refer to CHG-12, "Wiring Diagram".
1.CHECK “L” TERMINAL CONNECTION
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check if “L” terminal is clean and tight.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 2.
NO >> Repair “L” terminal connection. Confirm repair by performing complete Charging system test
using EXP-800 NI or GR8-1200 NI (if available). Refer to applicable Instruction Manual for proper
testing procedures.
2.CHECK “L” TERMINAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)
1. Disconnect the generator connector.
2. Apply ground to generator harness connector terminal.
3. Check condition of the charge warning lamp with the ignition switch in the ON position.
Does it illuminate?
YES >> “L” terminal circuit is normal. Refer to CHG-17, "Work Flow (With EXP-800 NI or GR8-1200 NI)" or
CHG-20, "Work Flow (Without EXP-800 NI or GR8-1200 NI)"
.
NO >> GO TO 3.
3.CHECK HARNESS CONTI NUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)
1. Disconnect the battery cabl e from the negative terminal.
2. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
3. Check continuity between generator harness connector and combination meter harness connector.
is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> Repair or replace the harness or connectors.
4.CHECK HARNESS CONTI NUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)
Check continuity between combination me ter harness connector and fuse block (J/B).

CAUTION:
• Do not allow the coolant to contact the drive belt.
• Perform this step when engine is cold.
5. When draining all of the coolant in the system for engine removal or repair, open the drain plugs (A and B) on the cylinder
block.
: Front
6. Check the drained coolant for contaminants such as rust, corrosion or discoloration. If the coolant is contaminated, flush the engine cooling system.
REFILLING ENGINE COOLANT
1. Install the radiator drain plug. Install the reservoir tank and cylin-
der block drain plug, if removed for a total system drain or for
engine removal or repair.
• The radiator must be completely empty of coolant and
water.
• Apply sealant to the threads of the cylinder block drain
plug. Use Genuine High Pe rformance Thread Sealant or
equivalent. Refer to GI-21, "Recommended Chemical
Products and Sealants".
: Front
CAUTION:
Do not reuse copper sealing washers.
2. If disconnected, reattach the upper radiator hose at the engine side.
3. Set the vehicle heater controls to the full HOT and heat er ON position. Turn the vehicle ignition ON with
the engine OFF as necessary to activate the heater mode.
