Lane keep assist
a illuminates green or yellow, or
flashes yellow.
Illuminates green
The system is switched on and ready to operate.
Illuminates yellow
The system approaches a detected
lane marking without using the turn
signal in that direction.
Flashes yellow The system recognises that the laneis departed significantly.Lane keep assist 3 190.
Electronic Stability Control

n illuminates yellow.
The system is deactivated.
Electronic Stability Control
and Traction Control system
b illuminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates A fault in the system is present.
Continued driving is possible. Driving
stability, however, may deteriorate
depending on road surface
conditions.
Have the cause of the fault remedied
by a workshop.
Flashes
The system is active and is working to assist the driver with directional
control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions.
Electronic Stability Control 3 162.Traction Control system 3 161.
Traction Control system off k illuminates yellow.
The system is deactivated.
Tyre pressure monitoring system
w illuminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates
Tyre pressure loss. Stop immediately
and check tyre pressure.
Flashes
Fault in system or tyre without
pressure sensor mounted (e.g. spare
wheel). After 60 to 90 seconds the
control indicator illuminates
continuously. Consult a workshop.
Immobiliser
d illuminates yellow.
Fault in the immobiliser system. The
propulsion system cannot be started.
Seek the assistance of a workshop.
Vehicle care231unable to maintain the recommended
pressure, seek the assistance of a
workshop.Caution
Do not drive with a deflated self-
sealing tyre as this could damage
the tyre. Make sure the tyre is
inflated to the recommended
pressure or have it immediately
repaired or replaced.
When tyre replacement is needed,
replace with a self-sealing tyre,
because the vehicle does not come
with a spare tyre or tyre changing
equipment.
Directional tyres
If possible, fit directional tyres such
that they roll in the direction of travel.
The rolling direction is indicated by a
symbol (e.g. an arrow) on the
sidewall.
The following applies to tyres fitted
opposing the rolling direction:
● Driveability may be affected. Have the defective tyre renewed
or repaired as soon as possible
and fit it instead of the spare
wheel.
● Do not drive faster than 80 km/h.
● Drive particularly carefully on wet
and snow-covered road
surfaces.
Winter tyres
Winter tyres improve driving safety at temperatures below 7 °C and shouldtherefore be fitted on all wheels.
All tyre sizes are permitted as winter
tyres 3 251.
In accordance with country-specific
regulations, affix the speed sticker in
the driver's field of view.

Choose a tyre appropriate for the
maximum speed of your vehicle.
The maximum speed is achievable at kerb weight with driver (75 kg) plus
125 kg payload. Optional equipment
could reduce the maximum speed of
the vehicle.
Performance 3 249.
Tyre pressure
Check the pressure of cold tyres at
least every 14 days and before any
long journey.

234Vehicle careWinter tyres or additional wheel sets
must be fitted with sensors, otherwise the system will not work and control
indicator w illuminates continuously.
The tyre pressure monitoring system
malfunction indicator is combined
with the low tyre pressure control
indicator. If the system detects a
malfunction, w will flash for approx.
one minute and then remain
continuously illuminated. This
sequence will continue upon
subsequent vehicle start-ups as long
as the malfunction exists.
If the malfunction indicator w is
illuminated, the system may not be
able to detect or signal low tyre
pressure as intended. Tyre pressure
monitoring system malfunctions may
occur for a variety of reasons,
including the installation of
replacement or alternate tyres or
wheels on the vehicle that prevent the tyre pressure monitoring system fromfunctioning properly. Always check
the tyre pressure monitoring system
malfunction control indicator w after
replacing one or more tyres or wheels
on your vehicle to ensure that thereplacement or alternative tyres and
wheels allow the tyre pressure
monitoring system to continue to
function properly.
A temporary spare wheel is not
equipped with a pressure sensor. The
tyre pressure monitoring system is
not operational for these wheels.
Control indicator w illuminates. For
the further three wheels the system
remains operational.
A full size spare wheel is equipped
with a pressure sensor. The system
will detect the new wheel
automatically during driving.
The use of commercially-available
liquid tyre repair kits can impair the
function of the system. Factory-
approved repair kits can be used.
Operating electronic devices or being
close to facilities using similar wave
frequencies could disrupt the tyre
pressure monitoring system.
Each time the tyres are replaced, tyre pressure monitoring system sensors
must be dismounted and serviced.
For the screwed sensor, replacevalve core and sealing ring. For the
clipped sensor, replace complete
valve stem.
Vehicle loading status
Adjust tyre pressure to load condition according to the tyre information label
or tyre pressure chart 3 251, and
select the appropriate setting in the menu Tyre load in the Options menu
in the Driver Information Centre 3 82.
This setting is the reference for the
tyre pressure warnings.

Vehicle care237Temporary spare wheel
The use of tyre chains is not permitted on the temporary spare wheel.Jump starting
Do not start with quick charger.
If the 12 V vehicle battery is empty, the vehicle can be started using jump leads and the vehicle battery of
another vehicle. Jump starting only
works when the high voltage battery
is charged.9 Danger
The high voltage battery cannot be
jump started either with another
vehicle or battery charger.
Personal injury, death, or damage
to the vehicle could result.
9 Warning
Be extremely careful when starting
with jump leads. Any deviation
from the following instructions can
lead to injuries or damage caused
by battery explosion or damage to the electrical systems of both
vehicles.
9 Warning
Avoid contact of the battery with
eyes, skin, fabrics and painted
surfaces. The fluid contains
sulphuric acid which can cause
injuries and damage in the event
of direct contact.
9 Warning
Never jump start another vehicle
by using the terminals located in
the engine compartment.
This could cause a fuse to
overload in the vehicle.
● Never expose the 12 V vehicle battery to naked flames or
sparks.
● A discharged 12 V vehicle battery
can already freeze at a
temperature of 0 °C. Defrost the
frozen 12 V vehicle battery
before connecting jump leads.
● Wear eye protection and protective clothing when
handling a 12 V vehicle battery.
