When the vehicle is being
driven, illumination of this
warning lamp indicates that the
parking brake is still on or has
not been properly released.
When parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards
the pavement and pull the
parking brake
on

PARKING BRAKE
Applying
Pull the parking brake to immobilise
your vehicle.
When changing wheels
(tyres), make sure that these
are approved.
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
Releasing
Pull on the handle and press the
button to release the parking brake.

EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE
T h e A B S , i n c o n j u n c t i o n w i t h t h e E B F D
and CSC * braking systems, increases
the stability and manoeuvrability of
your vehicle on braking and provides
improved control, in particular on
poor or slippery road surfaces.
T h e A B S p r e v e n t s w h e e l l o c k i n t h e
event of emergency braking.
The EBFD and CSC * systems provide
full control of the braking pressure wheel
b y w h e e l . A d i s t r i b u t i o n b e t w e e n :
- the front and the rear in the case of the EBFD (Electronic Brake
Force Distribution),
- the left and the right in the case of the CSC * (Cornering Stability
Control).
In an emergency, this system enables
you to reach the optimum braking
pressure more quickly and therefore
reduce the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is pressed. This is
felt by a reduction in the resistance
of the pedal and an increase in the
effectiveness of the braking.

dicates that there is a
fault with the braking system or that the
parking brake has not been released
fully, which can cause a loss of control
of the vehicle when braking.
You must stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.

may make itself felt by slight
vibrations of the brake pedal.

Operating check

When one of these two
systems is operating, this
warning lamp comes on.
If a fault occurs with the
systems, this warning lamp
comes on. T h e A S R / E S P s y s t e m s o f f e r
exceptional safety during
normal driving, but this
should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
Correct operation of these systems
depends on observation of the
manufacturer’s recommendations
regarding the wheels (tyres and
rims), the braking components and
the electronic components as well
as the repair procedures use by
a P E U G E O T d e a l e r o r q u a l i fi e d
workshop.
A f t e r a n i m p a c t , h a v e t h e s e s y s t e m s
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .

directional stability of the vehicle to

If there is a variation between the
t r a j e c t o r y f o l l o w e d b y t h e v e h i c l e a n d
that required by the driver, the ESP
system automatically acts on the
brake of one or more wheels and on
the engine to put the vehicle back on
course, within the limits of the laws
of physics.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Parking the vehicle
As far as possible, immobilise
the vehicle on level, stable, non-
slippery ground.
Apply the parking brake, switch
o f f t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t
gear or reverse for the manual
gearbox, position N for the
"2 Tronic" gearbox. Tools
The following tools are installed in a
carrier, located in the centre of the
spare wheel:
1. Wheelbrace
2. Jack with handle
3. Removable towing eye
Access to the spare wheel and
the jack in the boot
Remove the carpet then the plastic
cover using the handle. Tyre pressures
These are indicated on the label
positioned on the inner pillar of the left
d o o r , s e e " I d e n t i fi c a t i o n m a r k i n g s " .
CHANGING A WHEEL
If necessary, chock the wheel
diagonally opposite the wheel to
be changed.
It is imperative that you ensure that
the occupants get out of the vehicle
and wait in a safe location.
