- faulty operation of the charging c i r c u i t ,
- s l a c k b a t t e r y o r s t a r t e r t e r m i n a l s ,
- a c u t o r s l a c k a l t e r n a t o r b e l t ,
- an alternator failure.

Emission control
system warning light
(according to model)
T h i s c o m e s o n f o r a f e w s e c o n d s e a c h
t i m e t h e i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o n .
I f i t c o m e s o n w i t h t h e e n g i n e r u n -
n i n g , t h i s i n d i c a t e s i n c o r r e c t o p e r a t i o n
o f t h e i n j e c t i o n , i g n i t i o n o r e m i s s i o n
control system.
I f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t l a s h e s , t h e r e
is a risk of damage to the catalytic
converter on petrol engines.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer. Diesel engine pre-heat
warning light
W a i t u n t i l t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t
goes out before starting the engine.
I f t h e t e m p e r a t u r e i s h i g h e n o u g h ,
t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t c o m e s o n f o r l e s s
than one second. You can start the
e n g i n e w i t h o u t w a i t i n g .
Low fuel level
warning light
W h e n t h i s l i g h t i r s t c o -
m e s o n , y o u h a v e e n o u g h f u e l t o d r i v e
at least 30 miles (50 km). The tank ca-
pacity is approximately 50 litres.
Speed limiter/cruise
control indicator light
T h i s c o m e s o n w h e n t h e
speed limiter or cruise control
is activated.
Dynamic stability
control system (ESP/
ASR) warning light

system (ABS) warning
light

I f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t r e m a i n s o n o r c o -
m e s o n a b o v e 8 m p h ( 1 2 k m / h ) , t h i s
indicates an ABS malfunction.
H o w e v e r , t h e v e h i c l e r e t a i n s c o n v e n -
tional servo-assisted braking.
I l l u m i n a t i o n o f t h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t , a c -
companied by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction dis-
p l a y , i n d i c a t e s a f a u l t i n t h e A B S s y s -
tem.

curtain air bags to be ful-
ly effective, observe the
following safety rules:
Wear a correctly adjusted
seat belt.
Sit in a normal upright position.
D o n o t l e a v e a n y t h i n g b e t w e e n t h e
o c c u p a n t s a n d t h e a i r b a g s ( c h i l d ,
a n i m a l , o b j e c t . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d h a m -
per the operation of the air bags or
injure the occupants.
A l l w o r k o n t h e a i r b a g s y s t e m s i s
strictly prohibited unless it is carried
o u t b y q u a l i i e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e
P E U G E O T n e t w o r k .
After an accident or if the vehicle
h a s b e e n s t o l e n o r b r o k e n i n t o ,
have the air bag systems checked. Front air bags
Do not drive holding the steering
w h e e l b y i t s s p o k e s o r r e s t i n g y o u r
hands on the centre part of the
w h e e l .
Passengers must not place their feet
on the fascia.

or the risk of injury from a cigarette
or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering
w h e e l o r h i t i t v i o l e n t l y . Curtain air bags

pillars or the roof. This could cause
i n j u r y t o t h e h e a d w h e n t h e c u r t a i n
a i r b a g i n l a t e s .
The triggering of an air bag or air
bags is accompanied by a slight
emission of harmless smoke and
a noise due to the activation of the
pyrotechnic cartridge incorporated
in the system. This smoke is not
harmful but sensitive individuals
may experience some irritation.
The detonation noise may result in
a slight loss of hearing for a short
time.
Even if all of the precautions men-
t i o n e d a r e o b s e r v e d , i n j u r y o r s l i g h t
b u r n s t o t h e h e a d , c h e s t o r a r m s
w h e n t h e a i r b a g i s t r i g g e r e d c a n n o t
b e r u l e d o u t . I n d e e d , t h e b a g i n l a t e s
almost instantly (approximately
3 0 m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e l a t e s w i t h i n
the same time discharging hot gas
via the openings provided for this
purpose.
T h i s e q u i p m e n t w i l l o n l y o p e r a t e
once. If a second impact occurs
(during the same or a subsequent
a c c i d e n t ) , t h e a i r b a g w i l l n o t i n
-
l a t e .
Side air bags
Only put approved covers on the
s e a t s , t h e s e w i l l n o t h a m p e r t h e i n
