MONOCHROME SCREEN A Adjusting the parameters
Press and hold button 1 for two seconds

Then, each press of button 1 scrolls
through the various data in the following
order:
- language of information displayed,
- hours (12 then 24 hour mode),
- minutes,
- year,
- month,
- day,
- unit of temperature (degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit).
Pressing button 2 a l l o w s m o d i fi c a t i o n
of the data selected. Press and hold for
rapid advance (return to start after the
last possible value).
After 7 seconds with no action, the main
d i s p l a y r e t u r n s ; t h e m o d i fi e d d a t a a r e
now recorded.
Note: Pressing button 2 b r i e fl y d i s p l a y s
the ambient temperature for a few sec-
onds.
When the ambient temperature is be-
tween -3° and 3 °C, the ambient tem-
perature display on the screen takes
priority over the clock display.
This displays the following information:
- time,
- date,
- a m b i e n t t e m p e r a t u r e * ( t h i s fl a s h e s
when it is between -3 and 3 °C),
- audio system information,
- a door check (e.g.: ''left front door open''),
- warning messages (e.g. ''remote c o n t r o l b a t t e r y fl a t ' ' ) o r i n f o r m a t i o n
messages (e.g. ''economy mode
active''), displayed temporarily.

This enables the following information
to be displayed:
- time,
- date,
- a m b i e n t t e m p e r a t u r e * ( t h i s fl a s h e s when it is between -3 and 3 °C),
- status of the doors. The display shows you, by means of a graphic,
whether a door is open,
- warning messages (e.g. ''battery charge fault'') or information mes-
sages (e.g. "fuel level low''), dis-
played temporarily, can be cleared
by pressing button 1 or 2 ,
- trip computer. Setting the parameters
Press button
1 for two seconds to access

Then, individual presses on button 1
allow you to scroll through the various
data in the following sequence:
- language in which the information is displayed,
- unit of distance (kms or miles),
- unit of temperature (degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit),
- time format (12 then 24 hour mode),
- hour,
- minutes,
- year,
- month,
- day.
Pressing button 2 allows you to change
the information selected. Maintain the
pressure for rapid scrolling.
After 7 seconds without operation, the
screen returns to the normal display
a n d t h e m o d i fi e d d a t a i s r e c o r d e d .
Note: Pressing button 2 b r i e fl y d i s p l a y s t h e
outside temperature for a few seconds.
When the ambient temperature is be-

VENTILATION
System which creates and maintains
comfortable conditions in the vehicle's
passenger compartment.
Air paths
The incoming air follows various routes
depending on the controls selected by
the driver:
- direct arrival in the passenger com-partment (air intake),
- passage through a heating circuit (heating),
- passage through a cooling circuit (air conditioning). The temperature control enables you to
obtain the level of comfort required by
mixing the air of the various circuits.
The air distribution control enables you
to diffuse the air in the passenger com-
partment combining several air vents.
T h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l e n a b l e s y o u t o
increase or reduce the speed of the
ventilation blower.
The air circulating in the passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t i s fi l t e r e d a n d o r i g i n a t e s
either from the outside via the grille lo-
cated on the bonnet or from the inside
in air recirculation mode.
Control panel
The controls of this system are grouped
together on the centre console. De-
pending on the model, the functions
offered are:
- the level of comfort required,
- a i r fl o w ,
- air distribution,
- demisting and defrosting,
- manual or digital air conditioning
controls.
Air diffusion
1. Windscreen demisting/defrosting
vents.
2. Front side window demisting/de-
frosting vents.
3. Side adjustable air vents.
4. Central adjustable air vents.
5. Air outlets to the front footwells.
6. Lower air outlets (under the front
seats). *

The air conditioning system does
not contain chlorine and does not
present any danger to the ozone
layer. In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and main-
tenance guidelines below:
If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
p a r k e d i n t h e s u n f o r a c o n s i d e r a b l e t i m e , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r
compartment for a few minutes.
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l t o p r o v i d e a n a d e q u a t e r e -
newal of air in the passenger compartment.
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grille located on the bonnet, the vents and the a ir passages under
the front seats.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in good working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d
h a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .
W e r e c o m m e n d t h e u s e o f a c o m b i n e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r .
T h a n k s t o i t s s e c o n d s p e c i a l a c t i v e fi l t e r , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n
of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger
compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy de-
posits).
To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning saves engine power and t herefore improves
towing capacity.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of
water under the vehicle which is perfectly normal.

MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING
The air conditioning system can only operate when the engine is running.
1. Temperature adjustment
Turn the dial from blue (cold) to red
(hot) to adjust the temperature to
suit your requirements.

Windscreen and side windows.

These settings are recommended for
cold climates. Central and side vents.
This setting is recommended for hot cli-
mates.
Move the manual control
to the left to return to the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n .
The intake of exterior air prevents the
formation of condensation on the wind-
screen and side windows.
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke from enter-
ing the passenger compartment.
Used simultaneously with the air condi-
tioning, the air recirculation improves its
performance.
Used in a damp climate, the air recircu-
lation may cause condensation to form
on the windows.
Return to exterior air intake mode as soon
as possible to avoid deterioration of the
air quality and prevent condensation.
Move the manual control to
t h e r i g h t t o t h e " I n t e r i o r a i r
r e c i r c u l a t i o n " p o s i t i o n .
Turn the dial from position 1
to position 4 to obtain an
a i r fl o w s u f fi c i e n t t o e n s u r e
your comfort.
I f y o u p l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l i n p o s i -
tion OFF (deactivation of the system),
the temperature is no longer main-
tained at a comfortable level. How-
e v e r , a s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r , d u e t o t h e
movement of the vehicle, can still be
felt.

Demisting - defrosting
To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
place the air intake control 4 in the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n ,
place the air distribution dial 3 in the
" W i n d s c r e e n " p o s i t i o n ,
place the temperature dial 1 and the air
fl o w d i a l 2 in the maximum position,
close the central vents,
switch on the air conditioning by
pressing the "A/C" button.
5. Air conditioning On/Off
S w i t c h i n g o n
Press the "A/C" button, the associ-
ated indicator lamp comes on.
The air conditioning does not operate
w h e n t h e a i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t d i a l 2 i s
in position "OFF".
S w i t c h i n g o f f
Press the "A/C" button again, the
associated indicator lamp switches
off.
HEATED REAR SCREEN
S w i t c h i n g o n
The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
Press this button to demist/defrost the
rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demist-
ing/defrosting operation before it is
switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.
If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
Switch off the heated rear screen as
soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption. The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.
The air conditioning is designed
to operate effectively in all sea-
sons, with the windows closed.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

Demisting - defrosting

DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING

Automatic operation
2. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
3. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort programme may
n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t t o q u i c k l y d e m i s t o r d e -
frost the windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice...).
This system is designed to operate ef-
fectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i m u m l e v e l
gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribution
of warm air to the windscreen, the side
windows and the footwells only.
The air conditioning can only operate with the engine ru
nning.
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is dis-
played.
Press the arrows 1 (up and
down) to change this value.
In this case, select the auto-
matic visibility programme.
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w , a i r
distribution and air recirculation, in ac-
cordance with the comfort value that
you have selected. The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
To exit this programme, press the
"AUTO" button again.
A setting around 21 provides an opti-
mum level of comfort. Depending on
your requirements, a setting between
18 and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior
temperature is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value, there is no need
to alter the value displayed in order to
obtain the required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly as
possible.

Manual control
Depending on your requirements, you
can make a different selection from that
offered by the system by changing a
setting. The other functions will still be
controlled automatically.
Press the "AUTO" button to return
to fully automatic operation.

Deactivation of the system
Avoid prolonged operation in inte-
rior air recirculation mode (risk of
condensation and of deterioration
of the air quality).
Avoid driving for too long with the
air conditioning deactivated.
Press this button to switch
the air conditioning off. The
"ECO" symbol is displayed.
Press this button several
times in succession to direct
t h e a i r fl o w i n t u r n t o w a r d s :
Press the "-" button to
r e d u c e t h e a i r fl o w .
Press the "+" button
to increase the air
fl o w .
Press this button to recircu-
late the interior air. The air
recirculation symbol is dis-
played.
Press the "OFF" button.
This action deactivates all of the func-
tions of the air conditioning system.
The temperature is no longer main-
tained at a comfortable level. However,
a s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r , d u e t o t h e m o v e m e n t
of the vehicle, can still be felt.
Press the "OFF" , "AUTO" or "visi-
bility" button again to reactivate the
system with the values which were
set before it was deactivated.
Switching the system off may result in
some discomfort (humidity, condensa-
tion).
Press the button again to return
to automatic operation of the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g . T h e s y m b o l " A/C " i s
displayed.
- the windscreen and side windows (demisting or defrosting),
- the windscreen, the side windows and the footwells,
- the footwells,
- the central vents, the side vents and the footwells,
- the central and side vents. Air recirculation prevents exterior odours
and smoke from entering the passenger
compartment.
Choose this position for rapid cooling of
the passenger compartment.
As soon as possible, press this button
again to permit the intake of exterior
air and prevent condensation.

AIRBAGS
Front airbags
Impact detection zones
System designed to maximise the safety
of the occupants (with the exception of
the rear centre passenger) in the event
of violent collisions. It supplements the
action of the force-limiting seat belts.
If a collision occurs, the electronic de-
tectors record and analyse the front and
side impacts sustained in the impact
detection zones:
- in the case of a serious impact, the airbags are triggered instantly and
protect the occupants of the vehicle
(with the exception of the rear centre
passenger); immediately after the
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility
or the exit of the occupants,
- in the case of a minor or rear impact or in certain roll-over conditions, the
airbags will not be triggered; the
s e a t b e l t a l o n e i s s u f fi c i e n t t o p r o -
vide optimum protection in these
situations.
The airbags do not operate when
the ignition is switched off.
This equipment will only operate
once. If a second impact occurs (dur-
ing the same or a subsequent acci-
dent), the airbag will not operate.
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. System which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a seri-
ous front impact to limit the risk of injury
to the head and chest.
T h e a i r b a g s a r e fi t t e d i n t h e c e n t r e o f
the steering wheel for the driver and in
the dashboard for the front passenger.
Triggering
They are deployed simultaneously in
the event of a serious front impact ap-
plied to all or part of the front impact
zone
A in the longitudinal centreline of
the vehicle on a horizontal plane direct-
ed from the front towards the rear of the
vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
front occupant of the vehicle and the
dashboard to cushion their forward
movement.
Triggering of the airbag(s) is ac-
companied by a slight emission
of harmless smoke and a noise,
due to the activation of the pyro-
technic cartridge incorporated in
the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but
sensitive individuals may experi-
ence slight irritation.
The noise of the detonation may
result in a slight loss of hearing
for a short time.
