"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
The four-speed automatic gearbox
offers a choice between the comfort
of integral automatic operation, en-
hanced by a sport and a snow pro-
gramme, or manual gear changing.
OPENING THE BONNET
From inside the vehicle : pull the
handle.
From outside : lift the catch and raise
the bonnet. Secure the strut to hold
the bonnet open.

Move the lever in the gate to
select a position.
The indicator light for the position se-
lected illuminates on the instrument
panel display.

OPENING THE BONNET
Inside the vehicle: pull the handle on
the left-hand side, under the fascia.
BONNET STRUT
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace
the strut in its housing.
FILLING THE FUEL TANK
T h e t a n k m u s t b e fi l l e d w i t h f u e l w i t h
the engine switched off .
Insert the key then turn it to the left.
R e m o v e t h e c a p .
A label indicates which type of fuel to
use.
I f y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n t i n u e
a f t e r t h e t h i r d c u t - o f f o f t h e p u m p
nozzle. This could result in vehicle
m a l f u n c t i o n s .
The capacity of the tank is approxi-
mately 50 litres.
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel.
Check that the bonnet is locked.
Outside the vehicle: lift the catch
and raise the bonnet.

CHECKS
Handbrake
Where the handbrake travel is too
great or there is a reduction in the
performance of the system, the
handbrake should be adjusted, even
between services.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Only use products recom-
mended by PEUGEOT
or products of equivalent
q u a l i t y a n d s p e c i fi c a t i o n s .
To ensure best performance from
components as important as the
power steering and the braking
system, PEUGEOT selects and
o f f e r s q u i t e s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
To prevent damage to the electrical
units, avoid washing the engine.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter
H a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g -
ularly. If you drive in dusty condi-
tions, change them twice as often.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
It may be necessary to check the
thickness of the pads, even between
services.
Brake disc/drum wear status
For further information relating to
checking brake disc and/or drum
wear, contact a PEUGEOT dealer. Oil filter
C h a n g e t h e fi l t e r r e g u l a r l y , i n a c c o r -
dance with the servicing schedule.
FUEL SUPPLY CUT-OFF
In a serious collision, a system pre-
vents fuel from reaching the engine.
To re-establish the fuel supply, press
the switch on the angle of the front
left-hand suspension assembly, un-
der the bonnet.
Manual gearbox
This does not require an oil change.
Have the level checked in accor-
dance with the manufacturer's ser-
vicing schedule.
To check the main levels and cer-
tain components, in accordance
with the manufacturer's servicing
schedule, refer to the pages of
the servicing booklet which corre-
spond to your vehicle's engine.
Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
