The driver must ensure that pas-
sengers use the seat belts correctly
and that they are all restrained se-
curely before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles
a s t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n -
ertia reel permitting automatic ad-
justment of the length of the strap
to your size. The seat belt is stored
automatically when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that
the seat belt is reeled in correctly.
The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on
the pelvis.
The upper part must be positioned
in the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n
automatic locking device which
comes into operation in the event
of a collision, emergency braking
or if the vehicle rolls over. You can
r e l e a s e t h e d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g fi r m l y
on the strap and releasing it so that
it re-winds slightly. In order to be effective, a seat belt
must:
- be tightened as close to the body as
possible,
- be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking that it
does not twist,
- be used to restrain only one person,
- not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- n o t b e c o n v e r t e d o r m o d i fi e d t o avoid affecting its performance.
In accordance with current safety regu-
lations, all repairs and checks must be
carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer who
guarantees that the work is carried out
correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regularly
by a PEUGEOT dealer and particularly
if the straps show signs of damage.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product, sold
by PEUGEOT dealers.
After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is
positioned and reeled in correctly. Recommendations for children
Use a suitable child seat if the passen-
ger is less than 12 years old or shorter
than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to secure
more than one person.
Never allow a child to travel on your lap.
In the event of an impact
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , the pre-
tensioning device may be triggered
before and independently of the air-
bags. Triggering of the pre-tensioners
is accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic car-
tridge incorporated in the system.
In all cases, the airbag warning lamp
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat
belts system checked, and if neces-
sary replaced, by a PEUGEOT dealer.

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle. Operating fault
There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the P posi-
tion to another position when
t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
To reduce fuel consumption when
at a prolonged standstill with the
e n g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c j a m . . . ) , p u t
the gear lever in the N position and
apply the parking brake.
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c -
onds, then the actual gear engaged is
displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-
i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. If the lever is not in position
P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r
the ignition is switched off, a mes-
sage appears in the multifunction
screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u -
tomatic mode.
Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) . When the ignition is on, the
lighting of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x
malfunction.
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
back-up mode and is locked in 3rd gear.
You may feel a substantial knock when
changing from P to R and from N to R .
This will not cause any damage to the
g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.

VISUAL AND AUDIBLE
PARKING SENSORS
S y s t e m c o n s i s t i n g o f f o u r p r o x i m i t y
sensors, installed in the rear bumper.
It detects any obstacle (person, vehicle,
t r e e , b a r r i e r . . . ) l o c a t e d b e h i n d t h e v e h i -
cle, however, it will not be able to detect
obstacles located immediately below
the bumper. The parking sensors are
switched on
by engaging reverse gear.
This is accompanied by an audible signal.

A n o b j e c t , s u c h a s a s t a k e , a r o a d -
works cone or any other similar
o b j e c t m a y b e d e t e c t e d a t t h e s t a r t
of the manoeuvre but may no lon-
ger be detected when the vehicle
moves nearer to it. When the distance between the rear of
the vehicle and the obstacle is less than
a p p r o x i m a t e l y t h i r t y c e n t i m e t r e s , t h e
audible signal becomes continuous and
the "Danger" symbol appears, depend-
ing on the multifunction screen version.
The parking sensor system cannot, in
any circumstances, replace the need
for vigilance and responsibility on the
part of the driver.
The parking sensors are
switched off
by moving the gear lever to neutral.
T h e p r o x i m i t y i n f o r m a t i o n i s i n d i c a t e d
by:
- an audible signal which becomes more rapid as the vehicle approach-
es the obstacle,
- a diagram on the multifunction screen * , with blocks which move
closer to the vehicle.

Parking the vehicle
Immobilise the vehicle where it
d o e s n o t b l o c k t r a f fi c : i f p o s s i b l e ,
park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground.
Apply the parking brake, switch off
t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r *
to lock the wheels.
If necessary, place a chock under
the wheel diagonally opposite the
wheel to be changed.
It is imperative that you ensure that
the occupants get out of the vehicle
and wait in a safe location.
Never go underneath a vehicle
r a i s e d u s i n g a j a c k ; u s e a n a x l e
stand.
Removing a wheel
List of operations
Remove the chromed bolt cover from
each of the bolts using the tool 3 .
If your vehicle is equipped with
t h i s , fi t t h e s e c u r i t y s o c k e t 4 on the
wheelbrace 1 to slacken the security
bolt.
Slacken the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Place the jack 2 in contact with one
of the two front A or rear B locations
provided on the underframe, which-
ever is closest to the wheel to be
changed.
E x t e n d t h e j a c k 2 until its base plate
is in contact with the ground. Ensure
that the centreline of the jack base
plate is directly below the location A
or B used.
Raise the vehicle until there is suf-
fi c i e n t s p a c e b e t w e e n t h e w h e e l a n d
the ground to admit the spare (not
p u n c t u r e d ) w h e e l e a s i l y .
Remove the bolts and store them in
a clean place.
Remove the wheel.

Do not disconnect the terminals
while the engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries without
d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e t e r m i n a l s fi r s t .
The batteries contain harmful sub-
stances such as sulphuric acid and
lead. They must be disposed of in
accordance with regulations and
must not, in any circumstances, be
discarded with household waste.
Take used remote control batteries
and vehicle batteries to a special
collection point.
Charging the battery using a
battery charger
Disconnect the battery from the vehicle.
Follow the instructions for use pro-
vided by the manufacturer of the
charger.
Reconnect starting with the nega-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( - ) .
Check that the terminals and connec-
tors are clean. If they are covered with
s u l p h a t e ( w h i t i s h o r g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) ,
remove them and clean them.
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is to be left
unused for more than one month. Before disconnecting the
battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off
the ignition before disconnecting
the battery.
Close the windows, the retractable
roof and the doors before discon-
necting the battery.
Following reconnection of the
battery
Following reconnection of the bat-
tery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to permit
initialisation of the electronic sys-
tems. However, if problems remain
following this operation, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Referring to the corresponding sec-
t i o n , y o u m u s t y o u r s e l f r e i n i t i a l i s e :
- the remote control key,
- the electric windows and the
automatic partial opening of the
door windows,
- the GPS satellite navigation system.
Disconnecting the cables
Reconnecting the cables
Position the open clip 1 of the cable
o n t h e p o s i t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e
battery.
Press vertically on the clip 1 to posi-
tion it correctly against the battery.
Lock the clip by lowering the tab 2 .
Do not force the tab as locking will not
be possible if the clip is not positioned
correctly; start the procedure again.
Raise the locking tab fully.
