CHECKING THE LEVELS Oil level Check the level regularly and top
up between changes. The maxi-mum consumption is 0.5 l per 600miles (1000 km). Check the level with the vehicle level, engine cold, using the oil levelgauge on the instrument panel orthe dipstick.
Dipstick There are two marks onthe dipstick : A= maximum
Never fill past this mark.B = minimum
To maintain the reliability of engines and emissioncontrol systems, the useof additives in engine oilis prohibited.
Oil change According to the information given in
"PEUGEOT SERVICING" .
WARNING: avoid used oil from
coming into prolonged contact withthe skin.Viscosity selection In all cases, the oil selected must meet the manufacturer's require-ments. Brake fluid level:
- The level must always be between the DANGER and MAXIMUM
marks in the reservoir.
- If the level drops substantially, contact a PEUGEOT dealer imme-
diately.
Fluid change:
- must be carried out according to the manufacturer's servicing sche- dule,
- use fluids approved by the manu- facturer, which fulfil DOT4 stan-dards.
WARNING: brake and clutch fluid is
harmful to health and very corrosive.
Avoid all contact with the skin. Cooling system Use the fluid approved by the manu-
facturer. When the engine is warm, the tem- perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan canoperate with the ignition key remo-ved and because the cooling systemis pressurised, wait for at least onehour after the engine has stoppedbefore carrying out any work. Slacken the cap to the first notch torelease the pressure to prevent anyrisk of scalding. When the pressurehas dropped, remove the cap andtop up the level. Note :
the coolant does not need to
be changed. Used oil Do not dispose of used oil, brake fluid or coolant into drains or into theground. Power steering reservoir Open the reservoir, with the engi-
ne at ambient temperature. Thelevel should always be above theMIN. mark and close to the MAX.mark.
Windscreen and headlampwash reservoir* For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we recommend that you useproducts approved by PEUGEOT(reservoir capacity 3.5 litres or 6.5litres with headlamp wash).

CHECKS Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer. Air filter and pollen filter Have the filter elements replaced
regularly. If you drive in dusty
conditions, change them twice asoften. Brake pads Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular forvehicles which are used in town,over short distances. It may benecessary to check the thickness ofthe pads, even between services. Handbrake Where the handbrake travel is too great or there is a reduction in theperformance of the system, thehandbrake should be adjusted, evenbetween services. Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Manual gearbox This does not need an oil change. Check the level, according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule. Automatic gearbox* This does not need an oil change. Have the level checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer, according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule. Oil filter
Change the filter regularly, in accor- dance with the servicing schedule.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL) If you should run out of fuel, it is necessary to re-prime* the circuit: 2 litre HDI engine
- fill the fuel tank with at least five
litres of diesel,
- operate the manual re-priming pump, until you feel resistance during the manoeuvre,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
1.4 litre HDI engine
- fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel,
- operate the manual re-priming pump, until fuel appears in the transparent pipe under the bonnet,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.

CHANGING A WHEEL Parking the vehicle Park the vehicle on level, stable and non-slippery ground.
Apply the handbrake, engagefirst or reverse gear (position P
for the automatic gearbox) and
switch off the ignition.
Access to the spare wheeland the jack in the boot Lift the floor using the handle and secure it by hooking the cords tothe hooks of the parcel shelf. Tools The following tools are located in a polystyrene holder in the centre ofthe spare wheel: 1 -
Wheelbrace.
2 - Centralising tool.
3 - Removable chock.
4 - Jack with handle.
5 - Removable towing eye.
6 - Alloy wheel bolt trim remover*. Removing the wheel
Place the holder and the chock 3
(or chock 3on its own if neces-
sary) under the wheel diagonally opposite to the one to be changed.
Remove the trim*, using thewheelbrace 1, pulling at the valve
passage hole.
Loosen the wheel bolts (forvehicles fitted with alloy wheels,remove the chrome trim first. Seeparagraph on "Special featuresof alloy").

Place the jack 4in contact with
one of the four locating points A
on the sub-frame, (the one which is closest to the wheel to bechanged).
Extend the jack 4until its base is
in contact with the ground.Ensure that the centre line of thebase of the jack is straight abovethe locating point A.
Raise the vehicle.
Unscrew the bolts and removethe wheel.
Fitting a wheel Position the wheel using the cen- tralising tool to assist you.
Tighten the bolts by hand andremove the centralising tool.
Partly tighten the bolts using thewheelbrace 1.
Fold the jack and 4and remove it.
Fully tighten the bolts using thewheelbrace 1.
Replace the wheel trim*, startingby placing the wheel trim notchopposite the valve, and press iton using the palm of the hand.
Put the tools and the wheel backin the boot.
Note: a diagram on the holder indi-
cates the location of the tools.
Tighten the spare wheel securing strap to prevent noise and for yoursafety in the event of impact.

For your safety, always change the wheel:
- on level, stable, non-slippery ground,
- with the handbrake on and the ignition switched off,
- with first or reverse gear enga- ged (position Pfor the automatic
gearbox),
- with the vehicle chocked. Never go underneath a vehicle that is supported only by a jack(use a ramp) After changing the wheel:
- have the tightening of the bolts and the tyre pressure checked by a PEUGEOT dealer as soonas possible.
- have the punctured wheel repai- red and refit it to the vehicle assoon as possible.

Special features of alloy wheels* Bolt coversAlloy wheel bolts are covered by chrome trims. Use tool 6to remove the trims befo-
re slackening the bolts. Fitting the spare wheel If your vehicle is fitted with a steel spare wheel, when fitting it, it is

mal to notice that the bolt washers
do not come into contact with the
rim. The spare wheel is secured by
the cone shape of each bolt. Tighten
the bolts fully. Fitting snow tyres If you fit snow tyres mounted on steel wheels, it is essentialto use special
bolts available from your PEUGEOT
dealer. Anti-theft bolts** If your wheels are fitted with an anti- theft bolt (one per wheel), the chro-me trim and then the plastic covermust be removed using tool

re unscrewing the bolt using one ofthe two anti-theft sockets (whichwere given to you on delivery of yourvehicle along with the duplicate keysand the confidential card) and thewheel brace 1.
Note : make a careful note of the
code number engraved on the head
of the anti-theft socket. This willenable you to obtain duplicate anti-
theft sockets from a PEUGEOT dealer.

CHANGING A BULB Front lights Note: on the right side, remove the style cover, fixed with
two plastic screws, to access the bulbs. Handle the bulbs with a dry cloth.
1 - Dipped beam headlamps: (H7-55W),
2 - Main beam headlamps: (H1-55W),
3 - Front fog lamps* (H1-55 W). Turn the protective cover corresponding to the faulty bulb a quarter of a turn and remove it.
Disconnect the connector.
Press the end of the securing clip to free it. Changethe bulb. When fitting the new bulb, ensure that the direction notches are positioned correctly and the securing clip
is fixed properly.
Reconnect the connector.
Refit the protective cover, positioning it with the arrowupwards, then turn it a quarter of a turn to the right. The headlamps are fitted with polycarbonate glass with aprotective coating.
Do not clean them with a dry or
abrasive cloth, nor with a detergent or solvent pro-duct. Use a sponge and soapy water.
4 - Side lights: (W 5 W). Pull the socket rearwards, remove the bulb and change it.
5 - Direction indicators: (PY 21 W amber). Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn and remove it.
Change the bulb.
Note: In certain climatic conditions (low temperature,
humidity), condensation inside the headlamp glass is
normal ; it disappears a few minutes after the lights are
switched on.

Direction indicator repeaters:
(WY 5W amber). Push the repeater forwards and
release the assembly.
Hold the connector and turn thelens a quarter turn.
Change the bulb. Rear lights
1 - Direction indicators (P 21 W).
2 - Reversing lights (P 21 W), right
side.
Fog lamp (P 21 W), left side.
3 - Brake lights (P 21 W).
4 - Side lights (R 5 W). These 5 bulbs are changed from inside the boot: Raise and hook up the boot mat,
Remove the boot sill trim, which is fixed by two plastic nails,
Move aside the boot trim to
access the bulb holder,
Press the tab and remove the
bulb holder, Third brake light (4 W5W bulbs)
Using a 10 mm box spanner, unscrew the 2 fixing nuts 1.
Release the lamp unit by pushingit outwards.
Squeeze the two tabs 2to relea-
se the bulb holder.
Change the faulty bulb.
When refitting, ensure that thelamp unit seal has been put back
in place correctly.

Amber coloured bulbs (direction indicators andside repeaters), must bechanged for bulbs ofidentical specification
and colour.
