The ABS, in conjunction with the electronic brake force distribution, increases the stability andmanoevrability of your vehicle onbraking, in particular on poor or slip-pery road surfaces. when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.

In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking pres-
sure to be reached more quickly, thus reducing the stopping distance. It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated. The
effect of this is a reduction in theresistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking efficiency.
6= In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.

The ASR system optimises drive to prevent the wheels skidding, by act-ing on the brakes of the drive wheelsand on the engine. It also allows thedirectional stability of the vehicle tobe improved on acceleration. If there is a variation between the tra- jectory followed by the vehicle and
that required by the driver, the ESPsystem automatically acts on theengine and the brake of one or morewheels, in order to put the vehicleback on course.

# 2#* The air bags have been designed to maximise the safety of the occupantsin the event of serious collisions. They work in conjunction with the
force-limiting seat belts. The elec-tronic detectors register and analyseany abrupt deceleration of the vehicle:if the triggering threshold is reached, the air bags inflate instantly and pro-tect the occupants of the vehicle. Immediately after the impact, the air bags deflate rapidly so that they donot hinder the visibility of the occu-pants nor their exit if necessary fromthe vehicle. The air bags are not deployed in the case of collisions which are not serious, for which the seat belt is suf-ficient to ensure maximum protec-
tion. The seriousness of a collisiondepends on the nature of the obstacleand the speed of the vehicle at themoment of the collision.

bags can be a minor irritant. ;"# 2#* These are folded in the centre of the steering wheel for the driver and in
the fascia for the front passenger.
They are deployed simultaneously, except in cases where the passengerair bag is disarmed.
