The level read will only be correct if
the vehicle is on level ground and
the engine has been off for more
than 15 minutes.
Engine oil level indicator
System which informs the driver of the
validity or invalidity of the engine oil
level.
This information is indicated for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched
on, after the service information.
Oil level correct

Dipstick
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL" , linked with the service warning
light, accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction dis-
play.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a c h e c k
using the dipstick, it is essential that the
level is topped up to prevent damage to
the engine. T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL --"
. Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Refer to the "Checks" section to locate
t h e d i p s t i c k a n d t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p o n y o u r
engine. There are 2 marks on the
dipstick:
- A = max; never exceed
this level,
- B = min; top up the
l e v e l v i a t h e o i l fi l l e r
cap, using the type
of oil suited to your
engine.

Total distance recorder
System which measures the total dis-
tance travelled by the vehicle during its
life. Lighting rheostat
System for manual adjustment of the
brightness of the instruments and con-
trols in relation to the exterior brightness.
The total and trip distances are displayed
for thirty seconds when the ignition is
switched off, when the driver's door is
opened and when the vehicle is locked
or unlocked. Trip distance recorder
System which measures a distance
travelled during a day or other period
until it is reset to zero by the driver.
With the ignition on, press the button
until zeros appear. Activation
When the lights are on:
press the button to change the
brightness of the instruments and
controls,
when the lighting reaches the mini- mum setting, release the button,
then press again to increase it,
or
when the lighting reaches the maxi-
mum setting, release the button, then
press again to reduce it,
when the lighting reaches the level
of brightness required, release the
button.
Deactivation
When the lights are off, or in day mode
o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h d a y t i m e l i g h t s ,
pressing the button does not have any
effect.

General menu "Audio functions" menu
Press the "MENU" button to gain
access to the general menu :
- audio functions,
- vehicle diagnostics,
- p e r s o n a l i s a t i o n - c o n fi g u r a t i o n ,
- telephone (hands-free kit).
Press the " " or " " buttons to select
t h e m e n u r e q u i r e d , t h e n c o n fi r m b y
pressing the "OK" button.
With the WIP Sound switched on, once
t h i s m e n u h a s b e e n s e l e c t e d y o u c a n
activate or deactivate the functions
linked with use of the radio (RDS, REG,
RadioText), the CD or the CD changer
( i n t r o s c a n , s h u f fl e , C D r e p e a t ) .

MONOCHROME SCREEN C (WITH WIP SOUND)
Displays on the screen
T h i s d i s p l a y s t h e f o l l o w i n g i n f o r m a t i o n :
- the time,
- the date,
- t h e o u t s i d e t e m p e r a t u r e ( t h i s fl a s h e s if there is a risk of ice),
- the status of the accesses (doors, boot...),
- the audio sources (radio, CD...),
- the trip computer (refer to the end of the section).
Warning messages (e.g.: "Emission
c o n t r o l s y s t e m f a u l t y " ) o r i n f o r m a t i o n
messages (e.g.: "Automatic switching
o n o f t h e h e a d l a m p s a c t i v a t e d " ) m a y
a p p e a r t e m p o r a r i l y . T h e s e c a n b e
c l e a r e d b y p r e s s i n g t h e "ESC" button. Controls
F r o m t h e W I P S o u n d c o n t r o l p a n e l , y o u
can:

"Vehicle diagnostics"
menu
Press the "MENU" button to gain
access to the general menu.
Press the arrows, then the "OK"
button to select the " Vehicle
diagnostics " menu.
On the " Vehicle diagnostics
" menu,
select the following application:
Warnings log
This summarises the active warning mes-
s a g e s , d i s p l a y i n g t h e m i n s u c c e s s i o n o n
t h e m u l t i f u n c t i o n d i s p l a y .
Once this menu has been selected,
y o u c a n c o n s u l t i n f o r m a t i o n c o n c e r n i n g
the status of the vehicle, such as the
warnings log.

Access to the retractable screen
Opening the screen
With the screen stored, press
control A to open it.
T h e s c r e e n o p e n s a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n
the ignition is switched on, when the
a u d i o a n d t e l e m a t i c s s y s t e m i s s w i t c h e d
on, when an outgoing telephone call is
made, when a voice command is given
and when a warning message linked
with the STOP warning light is received.
This screen is opened and stored auto-
m a t i c a l l y .
H o w e v e r , y o u c a n a l s o o p e n i t , s t o r e i t
a n d a d j u s t i t u s i n g t h e v a r i o u s m a n u a l
controls:

With the screen open, press con-
trol A to store it.

the ignition is switched off, after approxi-
m a t e l y t h r e e s e c o n d s , i f t h e a u d i o a n d
t e l e m a t i c s s y s t e m i s o f f .
I f y o u w i s h t h e s c r e e n t o o p e n o r
c l o s e a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e a u d i o
a n d t e l e m a t i c s s y s t e m i s s w i t c h e d
on or off, the screen must not be
closed when the audio and telema-
t i c s s y s t e m i s o p e r a t i n g . W h e n t h e s c r e e n i s o p e n , y o u c a n
a d j u s t i t p r e c i s e l y i n d i f f e r e n t w a y s :
press the corresponding part of con-
trol B to move the screen towards
y o u o r t o w a r d s t h e w i n d s c r e e n ,
or
p u s h o r p u l l t h e s c r e e n g e n t l y b y
hand.
Adjusting the position of the screen
S a f e t y a u t o - r e v e r s e
If the screen meets an obstacle as it
opens or closes, the movement stops
i m m e d i a t e l y a n d i s r e v e r s e d b y a f e w
millimetres.
After clearing the obstacle, issue the
command required again. Storing the position of the screen
T h e s y s t e m h a s f o u r p r e - s e t p o s i t i o n s
i n i t s m e m o r y .
Each time the screen is closed, the
s y s t e m s t o r e s t h e l a s t p o s i t i o n o f t h e
screen.
Each time the screen is re-opened, the
s y s t e m r e t u r n s t h e s c r e e n t o t h e p r e - s e t
position closest to that stored.
I f y o u c l o s e t h e s c r e e n d u r i n g o p e r a -
t i o n o f t h e a u d i o a n d t e l e m a t i c s s y s -
t e m , i t w i l l o n l y r e - o p e n a u t o m a t i c a l l y
when an outgoing telephone call is
made, when a voice command is
given or when a warning message
linked with the STOP warning light is
received.
