SAFETY
Lateral airbags
System which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a seri-
ous side impact in order to limit the risk
of injury to the pelvis, chest and head.
T h e l a t e r a l a i r b a g s a r e fi t t e d o n t h e d o o r
side:
- in the front seat back frame (chest-pelvis airbag),
- in the front head restraint (head airbag).
D e p l o y m e n t
The lateral airbags are deployed unilaterally
in the event of a serious side impact applied
to all or part of the side impact zone B , per-
pendicular to the longitudinal centreline of the
vehicle on a horizontal plane and directed
from the outside towards the inside of the
vehicle.
T h e l a t e r a l a i r b a g s i n fl a t e b e t w e e n t h e
front occupant of the vehicle and the
corresponding door trim panel. Operating fault
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. If this warning lamp on the in-
strument panel comes on, ac-
companied by an audible signal
and a message in the multi-
function screen, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system checked. The
airbags may no longer be deployed in
the event of a serious impact. In the event of a light impact or
bump to the side of the vehicle of
if the vehicle rolls over, the airbags
may not be deployed.
In the event of a rear or front collision,
the airbags are not deployed.

DRIVING
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle. Operating fault
When the ignition is on, the
lighting of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message in the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x
malfunction.
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d a s p e e d o f 6 0 m p h
( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l s p e e d r e s t r i c t i o n s p e r -
mitting.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
This warning lamp may also come on if
a door is opened.
There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,
- if you force the lever from posi- tion P to another position when
t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
c h a n g i n g o f t h e f o u r o r s i x g e a r s .
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
If the engine spped is too low
or too high, the gear selected
fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s , t h e n t h e a c -
tual gear engaged is displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-
i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. If the lever is not in position
P ,
when the driver's door is opened or
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r t h e
ignition is switched off, an audible
signal is heard and a message ap-
pears.
Return the lever to position P ;
the audible signal stops and the
message disappears.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u -
tomatic mode.
Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
To limit fuel consumption when sta-
tionary for long periods with the en-
g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c j a m . . . ) , p l a c e
the gear lever in position N and ap-
ply the parking brake.

health or indeed very corrosive.

Take used oil to a PEUGEOT dealer
(France) or an authorised waste
disposal site.
Diesel additive level (Diesel
engine with particle emission
filter)
A low additive level is indicated by light-
ing of the service warning lamp, accom-
panied by an audible warning and a
message on the multifunction screen.
Used products
CHECKS
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance with
the Warranty and Maintenance Record
and according to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Battery
The battery does not require
any maintenance.
H o w e v e r , c h e c k t h a t t h e t e r -
minals are clean and correctly
tightened, particularly in sum-
mer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery,
refer to the "Practical information" sec-
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the Warranty and
Maintenance Record for details
of the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of the
vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace them
twice as often if necessary (refer to
the "Engines" paragraph).
A c l o g g e d c a b i n fi l t e r m a y h a v e a n a d -
verse effect on the performance of the
air conditioning system and generate
undesirable odours. Particle emission filter (Diesel)
Display of this warning lamp,
together with the service warn-
ing lamp, indicates the start of
s a t u r a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e fi l t e r o r
low level in the Diesel additive
reservoir.
Oil filter
R e p l a c e t h e o i l fi l t e r e a c h t i m e
the engine oil is changed.

acceleration. This does not affect

Topping up
This additive must be topped up by a

The GTW and towed load values indicated apply up to a maximum altitude of 1 000 metres; the towed load mentioned must
be reduced by 10 % for every additional 1 000 metres.
The speed of a towing vehicle must not exceed 60 mph (100 k m/h) (comply with the legislation in force in your country).
High ambient temperatures may result in a reductio n in the performance of the vehicle to protect the engine; when the ambient
temperature is higher than 37 °C, limit the towed w eight.
