Diesel additive level (Diesel
with particle emission filter)
The minimum level of this additive is indi-
cated by lighting of the service warning light,
accompanied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction display.
Topping up
It is imperative that this additive is
topped up by a PEUGEOT dealer with-
out delay.
Used products

B a t t e r y Check the electrolyte level
regularly. If necessary, top up
the level with distilled water.
Check that the terminals are
clean and correctly tightened,
particularly in summer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery,
refer to the "Practical information" sec-
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the servicing booklet for
details of the replacement inter-
vals for these components.
Depending on the environ-
ment (dusty atmosphere...)
and the use of the vehicle (city driv-
ing...), replace them twice as often if
necessary (refer to the "Engines" para-
graph).
A c l o g g e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l -
ter may have an adverse effect on the
performance of the air conditioning sys-
tem and generate undesirable odours. Oil filter

Following prolonged operation
of the vehicle at very low speed
or at idle, you may, exception-
ally, notice the emission of water
vapour at the exhaust on accel-
eration. This does not have any
adverse effect on the perform-
ance of the vehicle or on the en-
vironment.
Avoid any prolonged contact of
u s e d o i l o r fl u i d s w i t h t h e s k i n .
M o s t o f t h e s e fl u i d s a r e h a r m f u l t o
health or indeed very corrosive.
D o n o t d i s c a r d u s e d o i l o r fl u i d s
into sewers or onto the ground.
Empty used oil into the contain-
ers provided for this purpose in
the PEUGEOT network. D o n o t d i s c a r d t h e o i l fi l t e r
through public channels, deposit
it in the containers dedicated to
this use in the PEUGEOT net-
work.
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance with
the servicing booklet and in relation to
your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a

Manual gearbox Refer to the servicing booklet
for details of gearbox mainte-
nance.
Brake pads Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak on the circuit, a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
that the brake pads are worn. Brake disc wear status
For any information relat-
ing to checking of the brake
disc wear status, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Handbrake If the handbrake travel is too
long or if you notice a loss
of effectiveness of this sys-
tem, the handbrake must
be adjusted, even between
two services.
This system must be checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Only use products recommended by
PEUGEOT or products of equivalent
q u a l i t y a n d s p e c i fi c a t i o n s . In order to optimise the opera-
tion of units as important as
the braking system, PEUGEOT
s e l e c t s a n d o f f e r s v e r y s p e c i fi c
products.
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compart-
ment is strictly
prohibited .

CHANGING A FUSE CHANGING Changing a fuse
Before changing a fuse, the cause
o f t h e f a i l u r e m u s t b e i d e n t i fi e d a n d
r e c t i fi e d .
Identify the faulty fuse by checking
t h e c o n d i t i o n o f i t s fi l a m e n t .
Access to the tools
T h e e x t r a c t i o n p l i e r s a r e i n s t a l l e d i n t h e
e n g i n e c o m p a r t m e n t f u s e b o x .
To gain access to them:
Open the bonnet (refer to the "Ac-
cess" section),
Press on the hook A and release
the catch,
Remove the cover completely,
Remove the pliers B . Correct Incorrect
U s e t h e s p e c i a l p l i e r s t o e x t r a c t t h e
fuse from its location.
Always replace the faulty fuse with
a fuse of the same rating.
Check the correspondence between
t h e n u m b e r e t c h e d o n t h e b o x , t h e
rating etched on the top and the ta-
bles below.
The spare fuses are located on
the engine compartment fuse
b o x c o v e r . Your vehicle’s electrical sys-
tem is designed to operate with
standard or optional equipment.
Before installing other electrical
equipment or accessories in your
vehicle, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
PEUGEOT will not accept re-
sponsibility for the cost incurred in
repairing your vehicle or for rec-
tifying the malfunctions resulting
from the installation of accesso-
ries not supplied and not recom-
mended by PEUGEOT and not
installed in accordance with its in-
structions, in particular when the
consumption of all of the addition-
a l e q u i p m e n t c o n n e c t e d e x c e e d s
10 milliamperes.

The battery A is located under the bon-
net on the left.
To gain access to it:
open the bonnet using the interior
l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r l e v e r ,
secure the bonnet strut.
BATTER BATTERY
Access to the battery
Connect the red cable to the posi-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,
then to the positive terminal (+) of
the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative termi-
nal (-) of the slave battery B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to an earth point C on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ( f o r e x a m -
ple, right-hand engine mounting).
Start the engine of the assisting ve-
hicle.
Operate the starter, let the engine
run.
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
Raise the front of the cover 1 to re-
lease the three clips 2 .
Then pull the cover 1 towards you
to release the clip 3 and remove the
cover.
Check the electrolyte level regu-
larly. If necessary, top up the
level with distilled water.

The batteries contain harmful
substances such as sulphuric
acid and lead. They must be
disposed of in accordance with
regulations and must not, in any
circumstances, be discarded
with household waste.
Take used remote control bat-
teries and vehicle batteries to a
special collection point.
Charging the battery using a
battery charger
Disconnect the battery from the ve-
hicle.
Remove the battery and place it in a
ventilated area.
Remove the top-up caps and top up
the level with distilled water if nec-
essary.
Connect the battery to the charger
observing the instructions for use
provided by the manufacturer and
start charging.
Disconnect the battery from the
charger and let it to cool.
If necessary, top up the level with
distilled water.
Clean the top of the battery care-
fully.
Put the top-up caps back in place.
Check that the terminals and con-
nectors are clean. If they are covered
with sulphate (whitish or greenish de-
posit), remove them and clean them.
Reconnect the battery starting with
the positive terminal (+). It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is to be left
unused for more than one month.
Do not disconnect the terminals
while the engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries with-
out disconnecting the terminals
fi r s t .
Avoid prolonged contact of the
electrolyte with the skin.
M o s t o f t h e s e fl u i d s a r e h a r m f u l
to health and very corrosive. When charging the battery, it is
normal to observe an increase
in temperature and bubbling of
the electrolyte.
Before disconnecting the battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off the igni-
tion before disconnecting the battery.
Close the windows, the sunroof, the
doors and the tailgate before disconnect-
ing the battery.
Following reconnection of the
battery
Following reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to permit initialisation of
the electronic systems. However, if slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e n c o u n t e r e d f o l l o w i n g t h i s
operation, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Referring to the corresponding section,
you must yourself reinitialise:
- the one-touch electric windows,
- the sunroof,
- the satellite navigation system.

TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN, TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN,
ETC.
Driving advice T h e m a x i m u m t o w i n g l o a d o n a l o n g
slope depends on the gradient and the
outside temperature.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
Side wind
Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.
To lower the engine speed, reduce
your speed. Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
distance.
Tyres
Check the tyre pressures of the tow-
ing vehicle and of the trailer, observ-
ing the recommended pressures.
Lights
Check the electrical signalling on
the trailer.
If this message is dis-
played, stop your ve-
hicle as soon as it is
safe to do so.

the engine to cool before topping up the
level, if necessary.
I f t h e m e s s a g e fl a s h e s r a p i d l y , c o n t a c t
a PEUGEOT dealer without delay.
Opening of the lower tailgate is
prohibited if a towbar is being
used.
We recommend the use of origi-
nal PEUGEOT towbars and their
harnesses that have been tested
and approved from the design
stage of your vehicle and that the
fi t t i n g o f t h e t o w b a r i s e n t r u s t e d
to a PEUGEOT dealer.
I f t h e t o w b a r i s n o t fi t t e d b y a
PEUGEOT dealer, it is impera-
t i v e t h a t i t i s fi t t e d u s i n g t h e
electrical pre-equipment located
at the rear of the vehicle and in
accordance with the manufac-
turer's instructions.
Driving with a trailer subjects the
t o w i n g v e h i c l e t o m o r e s i g n i fi -
cant stress and its driver must
be particularly careful.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
may also be used for towing a trailer.
Distribution of loads
Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest items are as close
a s p o s s i b l e t o t h e a x l e a n d t h e n o s e
w e i g h t a p p r o a c h e s t h e m a x i m u m
p e r m i t t e d w i t h o u t e x c e e d i n g i t .
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 0 0 0 m e t r e s , t h e m a x i m u m t o w i n g
load must be reduced by 10 % of the
GTW and so on for every 1 000 metres
of altitude.

details of the weights and towing loads
which apply to your vehicle.
