CASSETTE Selecting cassette modeWhen a cassette is inserted, the cassette player will start automatically. If a cassette is already inserted, press button C.
Ejecting the cassette Press button Eto eject the cassette from the player.
Direction of play
The player will play sides 1 and 2 of the cassette alternately, by automatically reversing the direction of play at the end of a
side. To manually reverse the direction of play, press button C.
Selecting a track on a cassette (blank search) Press button Kto select the following track.
Press button Mto return to the start of the current track or to select the previous
track.
Fast forward/rewindPress and hold button Kor Mto fast forward or rewind the cassette. At the end of the fast forward/rewind, the set plays the
current side. Noise reduction (Dolby B NR system) Press button Cfor more than two seconds to switch the function on or off.

Ð Use good quality cassettes.
Ð Avoid using cassettes of a duration of more than 90 minutes.
Ð Never expose the cassettes to heat or direct sunlight.
Ð If necessary, tighten the tape before inserting the cassette into the player.
Ð Clean the play heads regularly using a damp-type cleaning cassette.

SUNROOF
¥ To tilt
Press part Aof the switch. To
close, press part Bof the switch
until the sunroof is completely closed.
¥ To open Press part Bof the switch. To
close, press part Aof the switch
until the sunroof is completelyclosed.
Always remove the key from the ignition whenleaving the vehicle, evenfor a short time.
In the event of contact when operating the sunroof, you mustreverse the movement of the
sunroof. To do this, press the switch concerned. When the driver operates the sunroof, he must ensure that noone is preventing it from closing
correctly. The driver must ensure that pas-
sengers use the sunroof correctly. Be aware of children when oper- ating the sunroof.

In the event of contact when oper-ating the windows, you mustreverse the movement of the win-
dow. To do this, press the switchconcerned. When the driver operates the passenger window switches, hemust ensure that no one is pre-venting correct closing of the win-
dow. The driver must ensure that pas- sengers use the electric windows
correctly. Be aware of children when oper- ating the windows.
ELECTRIC WINDOWS
1 - Driver's electric window switch.
You have two options: Ð Manual operation: Press or pull switch 1gently. The
window stops as soon as the switch is released.
Ð Automatic operation* (driver): Press or pull switch 1fully.
The window opens or closes com- pletely when the switch isreleased. Pressing the switchagain stops the movement of the
window.
Note: In the case of unwanted opening of the window on closing (for examplein the case of frost) or if the windowwill not rise, lower it completely and
raise it again immediately, by pullingthe switch until the window closes
completely. Continue to press theswitch for approximately one secondafter closing. Following reconnection of the bat-
tery, in the event of a malfunction,you must reinitialise the driver's elec-tric window:
Ð it is essential to close the doors,
Ð open the window completely, then
close it, it will rise in stages of a few centimetres with each press,repeat the operation until the win-dow is completely closed,
Ð continue to press the switch for at least one second after reachingthis position.

Automatic day/night interior mirror This automatically and gradually changes between the day and night positions.
To prevent dazzling, the glass of the mirror darkens automatically depending onthe intensity of the light from behind. It clears as the light (headlamps of follow-
ing vehicles, sunlight) decreases, ensuring maximum visibility. Operation Switch on the ignition and press switch 1:
Ð Indicator light 2lit (switch pressed): automatic operation.
Ð Indicator light 2off: automatic system off. The mirror remains at its most clear.
Special feature
To ensure maximum visibility during manoeuvres, the mirror clears automatical- ly when reverse gear is engaged. Manual interior mirror The interior mirror has two positions:
Ð day (normal),
Ð night (anti-dazzle).
To change from one to the other, push or pull the lever on the lower
edge of the mirror.

AREAS FOR TOLL CARDS/
CAR PARK TICKETS The athermic windscreen has two non-reflective zones located eitherside of the base of the interior
mirror.
They are intended for affixing toll cards and/or car park tickets.

AUTOMATIC AUTOADAPTIVE GEARBOX The 4-speed automaticgearbox offers the comfort of integral automatic operation ,
enhanced by a sportprogramme (switch A) and a snowprogramme (switch B).
Gear selection gate Move the lever in the gate to select one of the positions.Once the position is selected, the indicator light for that position illuminates on
the instrument panel display.
P. Park: for immobilising the vehicle and for startingthe engine, with the hand-
brake on or off. R. Reverse: this must be engaged when the vehicle is stationary and the engine
at idle.N. Neutral: for startingthe engine and for parking, with the handbrake on.
D. Drive: for driving in autoadaptive mode (automatic changing of the four
gears).3. For driving in townor on winding roads (automatic changing of the first three
gears only).
2. For driving in the mountainsor for towing a trailer (automatic changing of
the first two gears only).
1. For use on steep gradients (selection of first gear only).
Special feature of the gearbox (2 litre petrol engine)Selection of first gear is by pressing button Cwith the lever in position 2.
To exit first gear, press button Cagain or move the selector lever.

are available. The indicator light cor-responding to the programme selec-ted lights up on the instrument panel. Sport programme Once the vehicle has been started and position Dselected, press the
S button.
The gearbox automatically favoursdynamic driving. Snow programme This programme makes starting easier
and offers smooth driving in conditions
when traction is poor. Once the vehicle has been started and position Dselected, press the
button.
The gearbox adapts to driving onslippery roads.
Note : You can return to the autoadaptive
programme at any time.
Press the Sor button again to
cancel the current programme. Operating anomaly Any disruption of the system is indi- cated by the alternate flashing of thesport and snow lights on the instru-ment panel. In such a case, the gearbox will operate in downgrade mode (locked
in 3rd gear). You may feel a substan-tial knock when reverse is selectedfrom position
Por N(this does not
damage the gearbox). Do not exceed 60 m.p.h. (100 km/h), if regulations permit this.

CHANGING A WHEEL Access to the spare wheel and jack Lift the boot carpet using the lifting hook. Secure the hook behind theboot seal.Tools 1 -
Wheel brace.
2 - Centralising tool.
3 - Trim remover/wheel brace extension.
4 - Jack.
5 - Removable towing eye.
6 - Chrome trim tool.
The tool holder supports the boot
floor. Reposition it to prevent anydeformation of the floor whenloaded.
Tighten the spare wheel securing strap to prevent noise and for yoursafety in the event of a frontalimpact. Removal
Ð Park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground.
Ð Apply the handbrake, engage first or reverse gear (position Pfor the
automatic gearbox).
Ð Remove the chrome trims using the tool 6(see the paragraph in
this chapter entitled 'Special fea- tures of alloy wheels'). Note: when the vehicle is delivered,
the anti-theft sockets are in the glove box.
Ð Loosen the wheel bolts.

Ð The jack is fitted with a systemwhich enables it to be folded or
unfolded rapidly. Take the jackfrom the toolkit and close it bypressing the ends A. Place the
jack at one of the four locations E
underneath the vehicle, as closeas possible to the wheel to bechanged. Unfold it by pulling theends A.
Ð Extend the jack using the wheel- brace 1and the extension 3.
Ð Take out a wheel bolt at the top and fit the centralising tool 2.
Ð Loosen the wheel bolts and remove the wheel. Fitting a wheel
Ð Position the wheel using the cen-
tralising tool to assist you.
Ð Tighten the bolts by hand, and remove the centralising tool.
Ð Partly tighten the bolts using the wheelbrace.
Ð Fold the jack and remove it.
Ð Fully tighten the wheel bolts using the wheelbrace.
Ð Replace the centre trim by pres- sing it with the palm of your hand.

For your safety, always change the wheel:
Ð on level, stable, non-slipperyground,
Ð with the handbrake applied,
Ð with first or reverse gearengaged (position Pfor the
automatic gearbox).
Ð never go underneath a vehiclewhich is supported only by ajack (use a ramp).
After changing the wheel Ð have the tightening of the bolts and the tyre pressure checkedby a PEUGEOT dealer as soonas possible,
Ð have the punctured tyre repaired and refit it to the vehi-cle as soon as possible.
