The boot light is located in the right-
h a n d b o o t t r i m .
I t c o m e s o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e
boot is opened and switches off auto-
m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e b o o t i s c l o s e d .

With the key in the ignition on or starting
position, operate the relevant switch.
T h e r e a r c o u r t e s y l i g h t c o m e s o n w h e n t h e
i g n i t i o n k e y i s r e m o v e d , o n u n l o c k i n g t h e
vehicle or on opening one of the doors.
It gradually goes off after the ignition
has been switched on or the vehicle
is locked.
Pressing switch 1 turns on the rear
courtesy light.
The courtesy light can be deactivated
by pressing switch 1 with the door open.
T h e m a p r e a d i n g l i g h t s a r e n o t a f f e c t e d
b y t h i s a n d m a y b e s w i t c h e d o n .
To re-activate the lights, press the
switch, with the door open. With the key in the ignition on or starting
position, press the corresponding
switch.
T h e r e a r r e a d i n g l i g h t s c o m e o n w h e n
t h e k e y i s r e m o v e d f r o m t h e i g n i t i o n
and when the vehicle is unlocked.
They switch off gradually when the
ignition is switched on or when the
vehicle is locked.
Pressing switch 1 switches on the
rear reading light concerned for
t e n m i n u t e s .

Disarming the front
passenger's front air bag * Reactivation
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the
"ON" position
to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure
its safety function.
To ensure the safety of your child, it
is essential to disarm the passenger
air bag when you install a rear-facing
child seat on the front passenger seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the air bag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
With the ignition switched off
,
insert the key into the passenger air
bag disarming switch, turn it to the
"OFF" position, then remove the key
keeping the slot in this position. The steering column air bag protects
the driver's knees in the event of a
serious front impact.
It is incorporated in the fascia below
the steering column.
In the event of a malfunction
* According to country. Activation
It is deployed at the same time as the
front air bags.
Instrument panel warning light.
If this warning light comes on, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction display, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer to have the system
checked. The air bags may no longer
be deployed in the event of a serious
impact. Steering column air bag
When the ignition is on, this
warning light remains lit on the
instrument panel for the duration
of disarming.
In the "OFF" position, the passenger
air bag will not be triggered in the event
of an impact.

Gear selection gate
Move the lever in the gate to select
a position.
The indicator light corresponding to the position selected appears on
the instrument panel screen.
P ark: to immobilise the vehicle and to
start the engine, with the handbrake on.
R everse: to reverse (select this position
with the vehicle stationary, engine at idle).
N eutral: to start the engine and to park,
with the handbrake on.
Note: if position N is inadvertently
engaged while driving, allow the engine to
return to idle before engaging position D
then accelerate.
D rive: to drive in automatic mode.
M anual: to drive selecting the gears.
S: sport programme.
: snow programme.
"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
The four or six speed automatic gearbox
offers, as required, the comfort of the
auto-adaptive programme enhanced
by a selection suited to dynamic driving
conditions: sport, or to driving on a
slippery road: snow.
However, manual selection is still possible
using the gear lever.
Moving Off
With the engine running, move off from
position P :
to exit position P, it is essential
to press the brake pedal,
select position R , D or M , then
gradually release the pressure on
the brake pedal; the vehicle moves
off immediately.
To move off from position N :
with your foot on the brake, release
the handbrake,
select position R , D or M , then
gradually release the pressure on
the brake pedal; the vehicle moves
off immediately.
Starting the engine
with the handbrake on, select position
P or N in the gate,
turn the ignition key. When the engine is at idle,
brakes not applied, if position
R , D or M is selected, the
vehicle moves even without the
accelerator being pressed.
Do not leave children unsupervised
inside the vehicle, with position
R, D or M selected, with the engine
running, as the vehicle moves
even without the accelerator being
pressed.
With the ignition off, if the
lever is not in position P , an
audible signal is heard when
the driver's door is opened, or
after approximately 45 seconds. Move
the lever to position P . The audible
signal ceases.
When maintenance operations need to
be carried out with the engine running,
apply the handbrake and select the
P ark position.

CHECKING THE LEVELS
These are normal maintenance opera-
tions which keep your vehicle in good
working order. Consult the instructions
in the PEUGEOT Network or in the
servicing booklet enclosed with this
handbook.
Dipstick There are two marks on
the dipstick:
A = m a x i m u m
N e v e r fi l l p a s t t h i s m a r k .
B = minimum
To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil is
prohibited.
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top
up between changes.
Check the level with the vehicle level,
the engine having been off for more
than 15 minutes, using the dipstick. Oil change
It is imperative that this is carried out at
t h e i n t e r v a l s s p e c i fi e d a n d t h e v i s c o s i t y
of the oil chosen must meet the require-
ments laid down in the manufacturer’s
servicing schedule. Consult the instruc-
tions in the PEUGEOT Network.
Note: avoid used oil coming into pro-
longed contact with the skin. Empty the
used oil into the containers provided for
this purpose in the PEUGEOT Network. system is pressurised, wait for at least
one hour after the engine has stopped
before carrying out any work.
Oil filter
Replace the cartridge regularly in
accordance with the recommendations
of the servicing schedule.
Brake fluid change

Note: avoid all contact with the skin,

very corrosive. Used oil
Power steering reservoir
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
Open the reservoir, with the engine
at ambient temperature. The level
should always be above the MIN.
mark and close to the MAX. mark.
Cooling system Windscreen and headlamp
wash level
To guarantee optimum cleaning and
a v o i d f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d s h o u l d n o t b e
topped up or replaced with water. Slacken the cap by two turns
to release the pressure to pre-
vent any risk of scalding. When
the pressure has dropped,
remove the cap and top up the
level.
Note: the coolant does not need to be
changed.
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d
by the manufacturer.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is
controlled by the engine fan. As this
fan can operate with the ignition key
removed and because the cooling Do not dispose of used oil,
b r a k e fl u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o
drains or onto the ground.
Important: if you have to
r e m o v e / r e fi t t h e e n g i n e s t y l e
cover, handle it with care to
a v o i d d a m a g i n g t h e fi x i n g c l i p s .

Bolt covers
Alloy wheel bolts are covered by
chrome trims.
Use the yellow tool to remove the trims
before slackening the bolts. Fitting the spare wheel

normal when
tightening the bolts to notice that the
washers do not come into contact with
the rim. The spare wheel is secured by
the cone shape of each bolt.
VERY COLD CLIMATE SCREEN *
The very cold climate screen is a partial
removable cover which is clipped onto
the air intake grille to prevent the accu-
mulation of snow due to direct splashes.
O n c e i t h a s b e e n fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i -
cle, it is imperative that it is removed
when the ambient temperature condi-
tions rise above 10 °C again.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Tyres of size 215/55 R17 can-

enable you to obtain a duplicate anti-
theft socket from a PEUGEOT dealer.
You are advised to do the same for the
duplicate keys.
