SEAT BELTS
Detection of fastening of the front
seat belts
When the ignition is switched on , if a
front passenger has not fastened their
seat belt and if the vehicle speed is below
12 mph (20 km/h) , you are warned by
lighting of the seat belt warning lamp .
The warning lamp switches off when the
seat belt(s) concerned is(are) fastened.
If the vehicle speed is above 12 mph
(20 km/h) , y o u a r e w a r n e d b y fl a s h -
ing of the seat belt warning lamp ,
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction screen identifying the
unfastened seat belt(s).
Front seat belts with
pre-tensioner and force
limiter
In the event of a serious front impact,
the pre-tensioning system instantly
t i g h t e n s t h e s e a t b e l t s fi r m l y a g a i n s t
the bodies of the occupants.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt against the chest of
the occupant, so increasing his pro-
tection.
Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e a l l fi t t e d w i t h a
three-point inertia reel seat belt.
The rear side seat belts have a force
l i m i t e r a n d m a y b e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning inertia reel.
To fasten the seat belts
Pull the strap, then insert the
tongue into the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is secured
correctly by pulling the strap.
To unfasten the seat belts
Press the red button on the buckle. Before folding the seat back, pull the
strap and insert the seat belt tongue
into the buckle. This precaution will
ensure that each seat belt is in place
when the rear seats are lifted again.
Note: a bag or an animal
placed on the front passenger
seat may cause illumination of
the warning lamp.
The audible signal ceases and the
warning lamp switches off when the
seat belt concerned is fastened.
After two minutes without any action
o n t h e s e a t b e l t s , t h e fl a s h i n g w a r n i n g
lamp remains on permanently and the
audible signal ceases. All of the warn-
ings cease when a door is opened or
when the engine is switched off.
Front seat belt height adjustment:
To lower the attachment point,
squeeze control 1 and slide it
downwards.
To raise the attachment point, slide
control 1 upwards.

Bonnet stay BONNET
Handle the exterior safety catch and
the bonnet stay with care when the en-
gine is hot (risk of burns).
Opening
From inside: pull the release lever on
the left-hand side under the dashboard
towards you.
From outside: move the safety catch to
the left and up then raise the bonnet. Secure the stay in its housing to hold
the bonnet open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace the
stay in its clip. Closing
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
end of its travel. Check that the bonnet
is fully closed.

CHANGING A WHEEL
Tools available
The following tools are located in
the holder in the centre of the spare
wheel:
1. Wheelbrace.
For removal of the wheel trim and removal of the wheel securing
bolts.
2. Jack with integral handle.
For raising the vehicle.
3. Removable towing eye.
See corresponding section.
4. Bolt cover tool.
For removal of the bolt protectors (covers) on alloy wheels. Removal
For vehicles with steel wheels, de-
tach the trim using the wheelbrace 1
pulling at the valve passage hole.
For vehicles with alloy wheels, re-
move the covers using tool 4 .
Loosen the wheel bolts.
Take the jack from the tool kit.
Place the jack 2 in one of the four
locations underneath the vehicle
(the nearest one to the wheel to be
changed).
Extend the jack 2 until its base is in
contact with the ground.
Unscrew the bolts and remove the
wheel.
Access to the spare wheel and
the jack in the boot

the grip behind the boot seal. Never go underneath a ve-
hicle which is supported only
by a jack.
Park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground.
Apply the parking brake, switch off
t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t o r r e -
verse gear (position P for the auto-
matic gearbox).

Fitting a wheel
Position the wheel.
Tighten the bolts by hand.
Partly tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace.
Fold the jack 2 and remove it.
Fully tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 .
For vehicles with steel wheels, re-
fi t t h e w h e e l t r i m s t a r t i n g b y p l a c -
ing its notch facing the valve and
press with the palm of the hand.
F o r v e h i c l e s w i t h a l l o y w h e e l s , r e fi t
the covers.
Put the tool holder back in position.
T h i s h e l p s t o k e e p t h e b o o t fl o o r i n i t s
correct position, to prevent any de-
f o r m a t i o n o f t h e fl o o r w h e n l o a d e d .
Tighten the spare wheel securing
strap to prevent noise and for your
safety in the event of impact. Punctured tyre warning
lamp
Information on the instrument
panel:
Reminder: for your safety, always
change a wheel:
- on level, stable, non-slippery ground,
- with the parking brake applied,
- w i t h fi r s t o r r e v e r s e g e a r e n g a g e d (position P for the automatic gear-
box),
- never go underneath a vehicle which is supported only by a jack.
T y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system warning lamp
These original equipment wheels are
fi t t e d w i t h a p r e s s u r e s e n s o r ( s e e
p a r a g r a p h " T y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c -
tion"). The warning which detects the
r e m o v a l o r a b s e n c e o f a w h e e l fi t t e d
with the pressure sensor signals the
anomaly. Have the wheel repaired and
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
After changing the wheel:
- have the tightness of the bolts and
the tyre pressure of the spare wheel
checked as soon as possible.
- have the punctured wheel repaired a n d r e fi t i t t o t h e v e h i c l e a s s o o n a s
possible.
- have the spare wheel checked and replace it in its boot recess.
Recommendations when using
the temporary spare wheel *
Your vehicle may be equipped with a
spare wheel with a different rim to that
of the standard wheel.
After use, replace it as soon as possible.
Follow the recommendations below
to avoid any alteration in vehicle han-
dling:
-
do not drive above 50 mph (80 km/h) ,
- d o n o t fi t a w h e e l t r i m ,
- drive carefully,
- c h e c k t h e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e i n d i c a t e d on the label.

Bolt covers
Alloy wheel bolts are covered by
chrome trims.
Use the yellow tool to remove the trims
before slackening the bolts. Fitting the spare wheel

w h e e l , w h e n fi t t i n g i t , i t i s
normal when
tightening the bolts to notice that the
washers do not come into contact with
the rim. The spare wheel is secured by
the cone shape of each bolt.
VERY COLD CLIMATE SCREEN *
The very cold climate screen is a par-
tial removable cover which is clipped
onto the air intake grille to prevent the
accumulation of snow due to direct
splashes.
O n c e i t h a s b e e n fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i c l e ,
it must be removed when the ambient
temperature rises above 10 °C again.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
215/55 R17 tyres cannot be

Security bolts

bolts (one per wheel), placed under
chrome trims which must be removed
using the yellow tool, before the bolts
are unscrewed using the security bolt
socket and the wheelbrace 1 .
Fitting snow tyres
I f y o u fi t s n o w t y r e s m o u n t e d o n s t e e l
wheels onto your vehicle, it is
essen-
tial to use special bolts available from
your PEUGEOT dealer.
This security bolt socket was
given to you on delivery of
your vehicle with the duplicate
keys. Make a careful note of
the code number engraved on the
head of the security bolt socket. This
will enable you to obtain a duplicate
security bolt socket from a PEUGEOT
dealer. You are advised to do the same
for the duplicate keys.

Bolt covers

CHANGING A FRONT BULB
Handle the bulbs with a dry cloth.
2 - Main beam headlamps: H7-55W.
Remove the protective cover cor-
responding to the faulty bulb.
Disconnect the connector.
Press the end of the securing clips
to free the bulb. Change the bulb.
W h e n fi t t i n g t h e n e w b u l b , e n s u r e
that the direction notches are po-
sitioned correctly and the securing
c l i p s a r e fi x e d p r o p e r l y .
Reconnect the connector.
R e fi t t h e p r o t e c t i v e c o v e r .
4 - Direction indicators:
PY21W (amber).
Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn
and remove it.
Change the bulb.
WARNING: RISK OF ELEC-
TROCUTION
Front lamps
In the engine compartment, remove
the cover secured by one or two but-
t e r fl y s c r e w s , a p l a s t i c r e t a i n e r c l i p a n d
two quarter turn screws.
1 - Dipped beam headlamps: H1-55W
or D2S-35W xenon bulb.
Xenon bulbs must be replaced by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Amber coloured bulbs (direc-
tion indicators and side re-
peaters) must be replaced
w i t h b u l b s o f i d e n t i c a l s p e c i fi -
cation and colour.
5 - Front foglamps: H11 - 55W.
Turn the wheels to full lock.
A c c e s s t o t h e b u l b i s v i a t h e fl a p i n t h e
f r o n t m u d fl a p .
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
T h e h e a d l a m p s a r e fi t t e d w i t h p o l y c a r -
bonate glass with a protective coating.
Do not clean them with a dry or abra-
sive cloth, nor with a detergent or sol-
vent product.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e l i q u i d u s e d t o fi l l t h e
wash-wipe and headlamp wash reser-
voir is of good quality.
High pressure washing :
when using a high pressure
washer on stubborn dirt, do
not persist on the headlamps,
the other lamps and their surrounds
to avoid damaging their coating and
seals.
In certain climatic conditions (low tem-
perature, humidity), condensation on
the inside surface of the headlamp
glass and rear lights glass is normal;
it disappears a few minutes after the
lighting is switched on.
3 - Sidelamps: W5W.
Remove the protective cover, dis-
connect the connector and then
remove the bulb and change it.
Put the connector back in place.
Reconnect the connector.

CHANGING A REAR BULB (407SW)
Left and right foglamps: P21W.
Carefully unclip the tailgate interior
trim.
D e t a c h t h e s e a l i n g fi l m l o c a t e d b e -
hind the lamp in question.
Remove the bulb holder turning it a
quarter of a turn.
Change the faulty bulb.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , e n s u r e t h a t t h e b u l b i s
positioned correctly in the bulb holder.
Unclip the lamp (2 clips).
Disconnect the connector and re-
move the lamp.
Unclip the bulb holder moving
aside the 4 tabs.
Unscrew the bulb and change it.
Reconnect the connector.
R e fi t t h e b u l b h o l d e r . W h e n r e fi t t i n g
it, ensure that the lamp is correctly
positioned and secured, reclipping
the rear part then the front part.
Number plate lamps: W5W.
Insert a thin screwdriver in one of
the exterior holes of the transpar-
ent cover.
Push it towards the outside to unclip it.
Remove the transparent cover.
Change the faulty bulb. Third brake lamp (diodes)
All work on the diode lamps must be
carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Wing lamps
1. Brake lamps/sidelamps: P21/5W.
2. Reversing lamps: P21W.
3. Direction indicators: P21W.
These three bulbs are changed by re-
moving the lamp.
Remove the corresponding boot

lamp.
R e m o v e t h e l a m p fi x i n g n u t i n s i d e
the boot.
Note: if necessary, use the wheelbrace
to remove the nuts. In some climatic conditions
(e.g. low temperature or hu-
midity), the presence of misting
on the internal surface of the
glass of the headlamps and rear lamps
is normal; it disappears after the lamps
have been on for a few minutes.
