Operating faults
If the electric parking brake fault warning lamp co mes on together with one or more of the warning lamps p resented in these tables, place the vehicle in a safe condition (on level ground, gear engaged) and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop with out delay.

Consequences
To apply the electric parking brake:  immobilise the vehicle and switch off the ignition.  pull the control for at least 5 seconds or until app lication is complete.  switch on the ignition and check that the electric parking brake warning lamps come on. The application is slower than during normal operati on. To release the electric parking brake:
 switch on the ignition.  push the control lever and hold it for approximately 3 seconds then release it. If the braking warning lamp is flashing or if the warning lamps do not come on with the ignition on, these procedures will not work. Place the vehicle on level ground and have it checked by a PEU GEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Emergency braking
In the event of a failure of the main ser vice brake or in an exceptional situation (e.g. driver taken ill, under instruction, etc) a continuous pull on the control lever A will stop the vehicle. The electronic stability programme (ESP) provides stability during emergency braking. If the emergency braking malfunctions, the message "Parking brake control faulty" will be displayed.
If a failure of the ESP system is signalled by the lighting of this warning lamp, then braking stability is
not guaranteed. In this event, stability must be assured by the driver by repeating alternate "pull-release" actions on the control lever A .
Emergency parking brake release
 if your vehicle has one, take out the vehicle chock B , located under the boot floor.  On a slope, immobilise the vehicle by placing a chock in front or behind one of the front wheels, opposing the slope. On level ground, immobilise the vehicle by placing a chock in front or behind one of the front wheels.
In the event of fault with the electric parking brake or a battery failure, an emergency mechanical control can be used to manually release the parking brake.  Immobilise the vehicle (or chock it if the brake pedal has not been released), with the engine running, by engaging first gear (manual gearbox, position P (automatic gearbox) or M or R (electronic gear control gearbox).  Switch of the engine, but leave the ignition on. If you are unable to immobilise the vehicle, do not operate this control and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop as soon as possible.
The emergency braking must only be used in exceptional circumstances.

 Pass your fingers under the edge of the gaiter below the gear lever gate.  Unclip the gate by spreading the tongues (located below) then pull away the assembly of selector gate and gaiter.
With an emergency release, immobilisation of the vehicle is no longer be assured once the mechanical release has star ted and the mechanical control cannot be used to apply the parking brake again. Do not carry out any action on lever A , or stop/start the engine while the release control is engaged. Have it checked by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. The control C cannot be used to apply the parking brake. To re-engage the electric parking brake (after correction of the fault or battery failure), make a long pull on the control lever A until the parking brake warning lamp (!) flashes in the instrument panel, then make a second long pull until this warning lamp comes on fixed (not
flashing).
 Turn the selector gate/gaiter assembly for access to the lever.  Pull hard on the control C to release the parking brake. A loud knock confirms the release of the brake.  Take care to refit the control in its housing.  Replace the selector gate/gaiter assembly.

Manual parking brake
Application
 Pull the parking brake lever up to immobilise your vehicle.
Release
 Pull the parking brake lever up gently, press the release button then lower the lever fully.
When parking on a slope, direct your wheels against the kerb, apply the
parking brake, engage a gear and switch off the ignition.
When the vehicle is being driven, if this warning lamp and the STOP warning lamp come on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message in the instrument panel screen, indicating that the parking brake is still on or has not been fully released.

Gear effi ciency indicator *
System which reduces fuel consumption by advising the driver to change up on vehicles fitted with a manual gearbox.
Operation
The system inter venes only when driving economically. Depending on the driving situation and your vehicle's equipment, the system may advise you to skip one or more gears. You can follow this instruction without engaging the intermediate gears. The gear engagement recommendations must not be considered compulsory. In fact, the configuration of the road, the amount of traffic and safety remain determining factors when choosing the best gear. Therefore, the driver remains responsible for deciding whether or not to follow the advice given by the system. This function cannot be deactivated.

- You are in third gear.
Example:
- You press the accelerator pedal moderately.
- The system may suggest that you engage a higher gear, if appropriate.
The information appears in the instrument panel screen in the form of an arrow accompanied by the suggested gear.
In the case of driving which makes par ticular demands on the per formance of the engine (firm pressure on the accelerator pedal, for example, when
over taking...), the system will not recommend a gear change. The system never suggests: - engaging first gear,
- engaging reverse gear, - engaging a lower gear.

Six speed automatic gearbox which offers a choice between the comfor t of fully automatic operation, enhanced by spor t and snow programmes, or manual gear changing. Four driving modes are offered: - automatic operation for electronic management of the gears by the gearbox, - spor t programme for a more dynamic style
of driving, - snow programme to improve driving when traction is poor, - manual operation for sequential changing of the gears by the driver.

The steering mounted control paddles cannot be used to select neutral or to
select or come out of reverse.

Displays in the instrument panel
When you move the lever in the gate to select a position, the corresponding indicator comes on in the instrument panel. P. Park R. Reverse N. Neutral D. Drive (Automatic driving) S.  With your foot on the brake, select position P or N .  Star t the engine. If this procedure is not followed, an audible signal is heard, accompanied by a message in the instrument panel screen.  With the engine running, press the brake pedal.  Release the parking brake, unless it is programmed to automatic mode.  Select position R , D or M .  Gradually release the brake pedal. The vehicle moves off immediately.
Moving off
When the engine is running at idle, with the brakes released, if position R , R D or M is selected, the vehicle moves even without the accelerator being pressed. When the engine is running, never leave children in the vehicle without super vision. When carrying out maintenance with the engine running, apply the parking brake and select position P . PP
If position N is engaged inadver tently while driving, allow the engine to return to idle then engage position D to accelerate.

Never select position N while the vehicle is moving. Never select positions P or R unless the vehicle is completely stationary.
Automatic operation
 Select position D for automatic changing of the six gears. The gearbox then operates in auto-adaptive mode, without any inter vention on the par t of the driver. It continuously selects the most suitable gear according to the style of driving, the profile of the road and the load in the vehicle. For maximum acceleration without touching the lever, press the accelerator pedal down fully (kick down). The gearbox changes down automatically or maintains the gear selected until the maximum engine speed is reached. On braking, the gearbox changes down automatically to provide efficient engine braking. If you release the accelerator sharply, the gearbox will not change to a higher gear for safety reasons.
Sport and snow programmes
Sport programme "S"
 Press button "S" , after star ting the engine. The gearbox automatically favours a dynamic style of driving.
S appears in the instrument panel.
Snow programme "  "
 Press button "  ", after star ting the engine. The gearbox adapts to driving on slippery roads. This programme improves star ting and drive
when traction is poor.

Return to automatic
operation
 At any time, press the button selected again to quit the programme engaged and return to auto-adaptive mode.
These two special programmes supplement the automatic operation in very specific conditions of use.
