Driving
Driving recommendations
► Observe the driving regulations and remain vigilant whatever the traffic conditions.► Monitor your environment and keep your hands on the wheel to be able to react to
anything that may happen any time.
► Drive smoothly, anticipate the need for braking and maintain a longer safety distance,
especially in bad weather.
► Stop the vehicle to carry out operations that require close attention (such as adjustments).► During long trips, take a break every two hours.
Important!
Never leave the engine running in a
closed space without sufficient
ventilation. Internal combustion engines emit
toxic exhaust gases such as carbon
monoxide. Danger of poisoning and death!
In severe wintry conditions (temperature
below -23°C), let the engine run for 4
minutes before moving off, to ensure the
correct operation and durability of the
mechanical components of your vehicle
(engine and gearbox).
Never drive with the parking brake
applied . Risk of overheating and
damage to the braking system!
Do not park the vehicle or leave the
engine running on a flammable
surface (dry grass, dead leaves, etc.). The
exhaust system of your vehicle is very hot,
even several minutes after the engine stops.
Risk of fire!
Never leave a vehicle unattended with
the engine running. If you have to leave
your vehicle with the engine running, apply
the parking brake and put the gearbox into
neutral or position N or P (depending on the
type of gearbox).
Never leave children inside the vehicle
unsupervised.
To assure the durability of your vehicle and your safety, remember that certain precautions,
described hereafter, should be taken when
driving your vehicle :
Manoeuvre cautiously, at low speed
The dimensions of your vehicle differ from those
of a light vehicle, in width, in height, as well as in
length, and some obstacles will be more difficult
to notice.
Manoeuvre slowly.
Before turning, check that there are no obstacles
at mid-height along the sides.
Before reversing, check that there are no
obstacles, particularly at high level behind the
vehicle. Be aware of the external dimensions, if ladders
are fitted.
Load the vehicle correctly
With a load carried, the vehicle must remain
within the maximum authorised weight, the
Gross Vehicle Weight.
To avoid upsetting the balance of the vehicle,
the load should be centred and the heaviest part
placed on the floor in front of the rear wheels.
It is inadvisable to place heavy loads on a roof
rack.
Loading also implies adherence to the maximum
load of the roof bar anchor points. Adhere to
the maximum permissible weight, according to
PEUGEOT dealer specifications.
Loads must be securely lashed down.
A load that is not properly secured inside the
vehicle may affect vehicle handling and create a
risk of accident.
If your vehicle is fitted with a drop-side back, the
height and width of the load must remain within
the overall dimensions of the vehicle.
Drive the vehicle in a prudent and efficient
way
Take corners gently.
Anticipate the need to brake as the stopping
distance is increased, particularly on wet or icy
roads.
Be aware of the effect of side winds on the
vehicle.
Effective eco-driving saves fuel; accelerate progressively, anticipate the need to slow down
and adapt your speed to suit the situation.
Indicate changes of direction well in advance so
that you are seen by other road users.
Take care
The tyres must be inflated to at least the
pressures indicated on the label, even over-
inflated by 0.2 to 0.3 bar for long journeys.
On flooded roads
We strongly advise against driving on flooded
roads, as this could cause serious damage to
the engine or gearbox, as well as to the electrical
systems of your vehicle.


If you are obliged to drive on a flooded road:►
check that the depth of water does not exceed 15 cm, taking account of waves that might be generated by other users,► deactivate the Stop & Start function,► drive as slowly as possible without stalling. In
all cases, do not exceed 6 mph (10 km/h),► do not stop and do not switch off the engine.

6Starting-switching off the
engine
Ignition switch

STOP position: Anti-theft.
The ignition is off.
MAR position: ignition on.
Certain accessories can be used.
AV V position: starter.
The starter is operated.
Avoid attaching heavy objects to the key or the remote control, which would weigh
down on its blade in the ignition switch and
could cause a malfunction.
Starting the engine
► With the parking brake applied and the gearbox in neutral, turn the key to the MAR
position.
► Wait until this warning lamp goes out, then operate the starter (AV V position)
until the engine starts.
The period of illumination of the warning lamp
depends on the climatic conditions.
When the engine is hot, the warning lamp lights
up for a few moments; you can start the engine
immediately.
► When the engine starts, release the key .Immobiliser warning lamp
If this warning lamp lights up, change key
and have the faulty key checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Switching off the engine
► Immobilise the vehicle.► Move the key back to the STOP position.
In low temperatures
In mountainous and/or cold areas, it is
advisable to use a "winter" type fuel suited to
low or minus temperatures.
Battery standby system
If your vehicle is to be out of use for an extended
period of time, such as during winter storage for
example, it is strongly recommended to put the battery in standby mode in order to protect it and
optimise its life.


To put the battery in standby mode:► Switch the engine off (STOP position).

► Press the red button, then turn the key to the BATT position.
The battery goes into standby mode
approximately 7 minutes later.
This time is necessary to:
– allow the user to leave the vehicle and lock the doors using the remote control.
– ensure that all vehicle electrical systems are deactivated.

When the battery is in standby mode,
access to the vehicle is only possible by
unlocking the mechanical lock on the driver's
side door.
After a battery standby, the information (time, date, radio stations, etc.) is
memorised.
To remove the battery from standby mode:
► Turn the key to the MAR - ON position.► Start the vehicle normally (AV V position).
Parking brake
Application
► Apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle.► Check that the parking brake is correctly applied before leaving the vehicle.
Apply the parking brake only when the
vehicle is stationary.
When parking on a slope, turn your
wheels towards the kerb and pull the
parking brake lever up.
There is no advantage in engaging a gear
after parking the vehicle, particularly if the
vehicle is loaded.
In the event of a failure of the
hydraulic braking system
While driving , to avoid any accidental
movement of the vehicle, use the parking
brake while depressing the brake pedal.
In this exceptional circumstance, it is
advisable to pull the parking brake up gently
so as not to block the rear wheels - risk of
skidding!
Release

► Pull the lever up gently and press the button to release the parking brake.When the vehicle is being driven, this
warning lamp coming on indicates that
the parking brake is still applied or has not been
fully released.
Manual gearbox
To change gear easily, always fully depress the
clutch pedal.
To prevent the mat from becoming caught under
the pedal:
– ensure that the mat is positioned correctly,
– never fit one mat on top of another.
Avoid leaving your hand on the gear knob as
the force exerted, even if slight, may wear the
internal components of the gearbox over time.
Engaging reverse gear

► Lift the ring under the knob to engage reverse gear.
Never engage it until the vehicle has
come to a complete stop.
The movement must be done slowly to reduce
the noise when engaging reverse gear.
If fitted to the vehicle, the parking
sensors are activated when reverse gear
is engaged; an audible signal sounds.

Gear shift indicator
Depending on version or engine, this system
reduces fuel consumption by recommending a
higher gear change.
Gear shift recommendations should not be
considered compulsory. In fact, the road layout,
the traffic density and safety remain the deciding
factors when choosing the best gear. The driver
therefore remains responsible for deciding
whether or not to follow the indications issued by
the system.
The system cannot be deactivated.
Operation
The information appears in the instrument panel screen in the form of the SHIFT
indicator, accompanied by an upward arrow to
signal to the driver that they can change up.
The system adapts its gear shift recommendation according to the driving
conditions (slope, load, etc.) and the driver’s
requirements (power, acceleration, braking,
etc.).
The system never recommends engaging first
gear or reverse, or changing down.
Stop & Start
The Stop & Start function puts the engine temporarily into standby - STOP mode - during
phases when the vehicle is stopped (red lights,

The inflation pressures defined for the vehicle can be found on the tyre pressure
label.
Tyre pressures should be checked when the
tyres are "cold" (vehicle stopped for 1 hour or
after a journey of less than 6 miles (10 km) at
moderate speeds). Otherwise, add 0.3 bar to
the pressures shown on the label.

The tyre pressure measurement unit can be configured with the MODE button: in
the "Tyre pressure measurement” menu, select
"psi/bar/kPa".

Under-inflation alert
This is signalled by the fixed illumination of this warning lamp, accompanied by an
audible signal and, depending on equipment, the
display of a message.
In the event of an anomaly noted on just one of
the tyres, depending on equipment, the symbol
or the message displayed identifies it.
► Reduce speed immediately , avoid excessive steering movements and avoid sudden braking.► Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
The loss of pressure detected does not
always cause visible bulging of the tyre.
Do not rely on just a visual check.
► Using a compressor , such as the one in the temporary puncture repair kit, check the
pressures of the four tyres when cold.
► If it is not possible to make this check immediately, drive carefully at reduced speed.► In the event of a puncture, use the temporary puncture repair kit or the spare wheel
(depending on equipment).
The alert is kept active until the tyre/tyres concerned is/are reinflated, repaired or
replaced.
Malfunction
The flashing and then fixed illumination of this warning lamp, accompanied by the
illumination of the service warning lamp, and
depending on equipment, the display of a
message, indicates a fault with the system.
In this case, the tyre pressures are no longer
monitored.
This alert is also displayed if at least one wheel is not equipped with a sensor.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified
workshop to have the system checked or, following a puncture, to have the original wheel,
equipped with a sensor, refitted.
Pneumatic suspension

If the vehicle is equipped with pneumatic
suspension, it is possible to change the height
of the rear sill, in order to facilitate loading or
unloading.



There is a normal sill level, as well as 3 higher levels (from +1 to +3) and 3 lower levels (from -1 to -3). Each level reached is displayed on the
instrument panel display screen.

increases or decreases by one level.
A long press on one of the controls selects the
maximum corresponding level (-3 or +3).

Deactivation/Reactivation
► Press and hold both controls simultaneously to deactivate/reactivate the system.
Deactivation is confirmed by the lighting of the
control LEDs.
Beyond a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h), the
system reactivates automatically.
Loading sill height

You must avoid using this control in the
following circumstances:
– when working underneath the vehicle,– when changing a wheel,– when the vehicle is being transported by lorry, train, ferry, boat, etc.
To avoid damaging the vehicle or injuring
anyone, check that there is nothing or no
person that might be close to or come into
contact with the vehicle, before raising or
lowering the suspension.
Driving and manoeuvring
aids - General
recommendations
Driving and manoeuvring aids cannot, in
any circumstances, replace the need for
vigilance on the part of the driver.
The driver must comply with the Highway
Code, must remain in control of the vehicle in
all circumstances and must be able to retake
control of it at all times. The driver must adapt
the speed to climactic conditions, traffic and
the state of the road.
It is the driver's responsibility to constantly
check the traffic, to assess the relative
distances and speeds of other vehicles and to
anticipate their movements before indicating
and changing lane.
The systems cannot exceed the limits of the
laws of physics.
Driving aids
You should hold the steering wheel
with both hands, always use the interior and
exterior rear view mirrors, always keep the
feet close to the pedals and take a break
every two hours.
Manoeuvring aids
The driver must always check the
surroundings of the vehicle before and during

Topping up the engine oil level

► Remove the dipstick before topping up.► Recover the oil filler neck.► Unscrew the filler cap.► Install the oil filler neck in the filler hole.► Top up with oil.► Remove the oil filler neck from the filler hole.► Replace the filler cap.► Replace the dipstick.
Brake fluid
The level of this fluid should be close to
the "MAX" mark. If not, check the brake
pad wear.
The Diesel circuit is under very high
pressure.
All work on this circuit must be carried out
only by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified
workshop.
Checking levels
Check all of the following levels regularly in
accordance with the manufacturer's service
schedule. Top them up if required, unless
otherwise indicated.
If a level drops significantly, have the
corresponding system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
The fluids must comply with the manufacturer's requirements and with
the vehicle's engine.
Take care when working under the bonnet, as certain areas of the engine
may be extremely hot (risk of burns) and the
cooling fan could start at any time (even with
the ignition off).
If the engine cover is to be removed /
refitted, handle it with care to avoid
damaging the mounting clips.
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil or fluids with the skin.
Most of these fluids are harmful to health and
very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or fluids into sewers or onto the ground.
Empty used oil into the containers reserved
for this purpose at a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualified workshop.
Engine oil
The level is checked, with the engine having been switched off for at least 30
minutes and on level ground, using the dipstick.
It is normal to top up the oil level between two
services (or oil changes). It is recommended
that you check the level, and top up if necessary,
every 3,000 miles (5,000 km).
In order to maintain the reliability of the
engine and emissions control system,
never use additives in the engine oil.
Checking using the dipstick
For the location of the dipstick, please refer
to the illustration of the corresponding engine
compartment.
► Grasp the dipstick by its coloured grip and pull it out completely.
► Wipe the end of the dipstick using a clean, lint-free cloth.

► Reinsert the dipstick and push fully down, then pull it out again to visually check the oil
level: the correct level is between marks A (max) and B (min).
Do not start the engine if the level is:
– above mark A: contact a PEUGEOT dealer or
a qualified workshop.
– below mark B: top up the engine oil
immediately.
Oil grade
Before topping up or changing the engine
oil, check that the oil is suitable for the engine
and complies with the recommendations in
the service schedule supplied with the vehicle
(or available from your PEUGEOT dealer and
qualified workshops).
Use of non-recommended oil may invalidate
the contractual warranty in the event of
engine failure.

A clogged passenger compartment filter can adversely affect air conditioning
system performance and generate
undesirable odours.
Oil filter
Change the oil filter each time the engine oil is changed.
Particle filter (Diesel)
In addition to the catalytic converter, this filter
actively contributes to the preservation of
air quality by trapping the unburnt pollutant
particles. Black exhaust fumes are therefore not
emitted.
Operation
This filter, inserted into the exhaust system,
accumulates the carbonaceous particles. The
engine management computer automatically
and periodically manages the removal of
carbonaceous particles (regeneration).
The regeneration procedure is triggered
according to the amount of accumulated
particles and the conditions of use of the vehicle.
During this phase, you may notice certain
phenomena - accelerated idling, triggering of
the cooling fan, increased smoke and increased
temperature at the exhaust - which have no
impact on the operation of the vehicle and the
environment.
Screenwash and headlamp
washer fluid
To check the level or top up this fluid on vehicles fitted with headlamp washers,
immobilise the vehicle and switch off the engine.
Reservoir capacity: approximately 5.5 litres.


To access the filler cap, pull the telescopic filler
neck and unclip the cap.
Fluid specification
The fluid must be topped up with a ready-to-use
mixture.
In winter (temperatures below zero), a liquid
containing an agent to prevent freezing must
be used which is appropriate for the prevailing
conditions, in order to protect the elements of the
system (pump, tank, ducts, jets, etc.).
Filling with pure water is prohibited under
all circumstances (risk of freezing,
limestone deposits, etc.).
AdBlue (BlueHDi)
An alert is triggered when the reserve level is
reached.
For more information on Indicators and in
particular the AdBlue range indicators, refer to
the corresponding section.
To avoid the vehicle being immobilised in
accordance with regulations, you must top up the
AdBlue tank.
For more information on AdBlue
® (BlueHDi),
and in particular on the supply of AdBlue, refer to
the corresponding section.
Checks
Unless otherwise indicated, check these
components in accordance with the
manufacturer's service schedule and according
to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
Only use products recommended by
PEUGEOT or products of equivalent
quality and specification.
In order to optimise the operation of
components as important as those in the
braking system, PEUGEOT selects and offers
very specific products.
12 V battery
The battery does not require any maintenance.
However, check regularly that the terminals
are correctly tightened (versions without quick
release terminals) and that the connections are
clean.
For more information on the precautions
to take before any work on the 12 V battery, refer to the corresponding section.
Versions equipped with Stop & Start are fitted with a 12 V lead-acid battery of specific technology and specification.
Its replacement should be carried out only by
a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Air filter
Depending on the environment and the
use of the vehicle (e.g. dusty atmosphere,
city driving), change it twice as often, if
necessary .
Passenger compartment
filter
Depending on the environment and the
use of the vehicle (e.g. dusty atmosphere,

necessary .

vehicle at very low speed or at idle, you
may, in exceptional circumstances, notice the
emission of water vapour at the exhaust while
accelerating. This has no impact on the
vehicle’s behaviour and the environment.
Due to the high exhaust temperatures
caused by the normal operation of the
particle filter, it is recommended not to park
the vehicle on flammable materials (grass, dry
leaves, pine needles, etc.) to avoid any risk of
fire.
Saturation/Regeneration
If there is a risk of clogging, this warning
lamp comes on, accompanied by a
message on the instrument panel display.
This warning is due to the start of saturation of
the particle filter (exceptionally long urban driving
conditions: reduced speed, traffic jams, etc.).
In order to regenerate the filter, it is
recommended to drive as soon as possible -
when traffic conditions and regulations permit
- at a speed of at least 37 mph (60 km/h), with
an engine speed above 2,000 rpm for about
15 minutes (until the warning lamp and/or the
message disappear).
If possible, avoid switching off the engine
before the end of filter regeneration; repeated
interruptions can lead to early deterioration of the
engine oil. It is not recommended to terminate
the filter regeneration with the vehicle stationary.
Malfunction
If this alert persists, do not ignore this warning;
this indicates that a malfunction has occurred in
the exhaust system/particle filter assembly.
Have the assembly checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
Manual gearbox
The gearbox does not require any maintenance (no oil change).
Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the style of
driving, particularly in the case of vehicles
used in town, over short distances. It may be
necessary to have the condition of the brakes
checked, even between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a drop in the
brake fluid level indicates that the brake pads
are worn.
If this warning lamp comes on, have the
brake pads checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
After washing the vehicle, moisture, or in wintry conditions, ice can form on the
brake discs and pads: braking efficiency may
be reduced. Gently dab the brakes to dry and
defrost them.

AdBlue® (BlueHDi
engines)


To respect the environment and ensure
compliance with the Euro 6 standard, without
adversely affecting the performance or fuel
consumption of its Diesel engines, PEUGEOT
has taken the decision to equip its vehicles
with a system that associates SCR (Selective
Catalytic Reduction) with a Diesel Particle Filter
(DPF) for the treatment of exhaust gases.
SCR system
Using a liquid called AdBlue® that contains
urea, a catalytic converter turns up to 85% of
the nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and

Manual parking brake
If you notice excessive brake lever travel
or decreased effectiveness, the parking
brake must be adjusted, even between two
services.
This system must be checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
Diesel fuel filter
The Diesel fuel filter is located under the bonnet,
close to the brake fluid reservoir.
If this warning lamp comes on, the filter
must be purged to remove water.
You can also purge the fuel filter regularly, every
time the engine oil is changed.
Bleeding the water in the filter

► Couple a clear hose to the bleed screw 1head.► Place the other end of the clear hose in a container.► Loosen bleed screw 2.► Switch on the ignition.► Wait for the scavenge pump to stop.► Switch off the ignition.► Tighten bleed screw 2.► Remove, then drain the clear hose and the container.► Start the engine.► Check that there are no leaks.
HDi engines make use of advanced
technology. Any intervention requires a
special qualification guaranteed by the
PEUGEOT dealer network or a qualified workshop .
Wheels and tyres
The inflation pressure of all tyres,
including the spare wheel, must be
checked on "cold” tyres.
The pressures indicated on the tyre pressure
label are valid for "cold" tyres. If you have driven
for more than 10 minutes or more than 6 miles
(10 kilometres) at over 31 mph (50 km/h), add 0.3 bar (30 kPa) to the values indicated on the
label.
Under-inflation increases fuel
consumption. Non-compliant tyre
pressure causes premature wear on tyres and
has an adverse effect on the vehicle's road
holding - risk of an accident!
Driving with worn or damaged tyres reduces the
braking and road holding performance of the
vehicle. It is recommended to regularly check the
condition of the tyres (tread and sidewalls) and
wheel rims as well as the presence of the valves.
When the wear indicators no longer appear set
back from the tread, the depth of the grooves is
less than 1.6 mm; it is imperative to replace the
tyres.
Using different size wheels and tyres from those
specified can affect the lifetime of tyres, wheel
rotation, ground clearance, the speedometer

In the event of a breakdown
If necessary, you can remove the lamp unit:

► Depending on the country of sale, remove the winter protection foam by sliding it sideways
towards the outside.
► Disconnect the electrical connector by removing its locking ring.► Remove the two fixing screws of the lamp unit.► Move the lamp unit towards the centre of the vehicle to extract it from its slides. Pay attention
to the bonnet stay on the left-hand side.
Main beam headlamps
Type D, H7 - 55W► Remove the cover by pulling on the rubber
tab.► Disconnect the electrical connector.
► Release the locking spring by pressing the central clamp.► Change the bulb taking care to align the metal part with the groove on the lamp.
Dipped beam headlamps
Type D, H7 - 55W► Remove the cover by pulling on the rubber tab.► Disconnect the electrical connector.► Release the locking spring by pressing the central clamp.► Change the bulb taking care to align the metal part with the grooves on the lamp.
Direction indicators
Type A, WY21W - 21W► Remove the cover by pulling on the rubber tab.► Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn anti-clockwise.► Change the bulb.
Sidelamps/Daytime running lamps
Type B, W21/5W - 21W and 5W► Remove the cover by pulling on the rubber tab.► Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn anti-clockwise.► Change the bulb.
LED daytime running lamps

These light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are used both
as daytime running lamps and as sidelamps.
If your vehicle is equipped with LED daytime
running lamps, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Front foglamps
