ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
(ABS - EBFD)
T h e A B S a n d E B F D ( e l e c t r o n i c b r a k e
force distribution) systems improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle on braking, in particular on
poor or slippery surfaces.
The ABS prevents locking of the
wheels, the EBFD provides control of
the braking pressure wheel by wheel. If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on
the display, it indicates a
malfunction of the ABS which
could result in a loss of control of the
vehicle on braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the brake
and STOP warning lights,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, it indicates a malfunction of
the electronic brake force distribution
which could result in a loss of control of
the vehicle on braking.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (EBA)
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, press the pedal
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g i t .
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated.
This alters the resistance of the brake
pedal under your foot.
To prolong the operation of the
e m e r g e n c y b r a k i n g a s s i s t a n c e s y s t e m :
keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Good practice
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock. It does not
reduce the braking distance.
O n v e r y s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s ( i c e , o i l ,
etc...) the ABS may increase the
braking distance. When braking in
an emergency, do not hesitate to
p r e s s t h e b r a k e p e d a l fi r m l y , w i t h o u t
releasing the pressure, even on a
slippery surface, you will then be able
to continue to manoeuvre the vehicle
to avoid an obstacle.
Normal operation of the ABS may be
felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.
W h e n c h a n g i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that these are
recommended by PEUGEOT.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.

4. OPERATING PROCEDURE - P l a c e t h e j a c k i n c o n t a c t w i t h t h e l o c a t i n g p o i n t p r o v i d e d , t h e o n e
which is closest to the wheel to
b e c h a n g e d . E n s u r e t h a t t h e j a c k
is straight and that the base of
the jack is fully in contact with the
ground.
- E x t e n d t h e j a c k t o l i f t t h e w h e e l clear of the ground.
- R e s u m e a n d c o m p l e t e t h e unscrewing of the wheel bolts.
- Remove the bolts and remove the wheel.
D o n o t e x t e n d t h e j a c k u n t i l y o u h a v e
started unscrewing the bolts on the
w h e e l t o b e c h a n g e d a n d h a v e p l a c e d
the chock under the wheel diagonally
o p p o s i t e .
- R e m o v e t h e t r i m p u l l i n g i t u s i n g t h e
embellisher remover.
- Loosen the wheel bolts and start unscrewing them. Anti-theft bolts
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h w h e e l s w i t h
alloy rims:
- E a c h w h e e l h a s a n a n t i - t h e f t b o l t .
- T h e s e b o l t s c a n b e l o o s e n e d u s i n g
your anti-theft socket (given to you
in delivery of your vehicle) and the
wheelbrace.
