r e i n i t i a l i s e d . Good practice

r e v e r s e t h e m o v e m e n t o f t h e w i n d o w .
To do this, press the control concerned.
W h e n t h e d r i v e r o p e r a t e s t h e
p a s s e n g e r e l e c t r i c w i n d o w c o n t r o l s ,
h e m u s t e n s u r e t h a t n o o n e i s
p r e v e n t i n g c o r r e c t c l o s i n g o f
the windows.
T h e d r i v e r m u s t e n s u r e t h a t t h e
p a s s e n g e r s u s e t h e e l e c t r i c w i n d o w s
correctly.

c l o s i n g / o p e n i n g o p e r a t i o n s o f t h e

system is triggered which only
a u t h o r i s e s c l o s i n g o f t h e w i n d o w . A f t e r
c l o s i n g , w a i t a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 0 m i n u t e s .

b e c o m e s o p e r a t i o n a l a g a i n .
L o w e r t h e w i n d o w f u l l y , t h e n r a i s e i t , i t

DRIVING SAFETY
HORN
Press the centre of the steering wheel.
HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise your
vehicle.
Check that the handbrake is applied
fi r m l y b e f o r e l e a v i n g t h e v e h i c l e . Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button to
lower the handbrake.
HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press this button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
The hazard warning lights should only
be used in dangerous situations, when
stopping in an emergency or when
driving in unusual conditions.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and pull
the handbrake.
There is no advantage in engaging
a gear after parking the vehicle,
particularly if the vehicle is loaded.
If the handbrake is still on or has
not been released properly, this is
indicated by this warning light which
comes on on the instrument panel.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the force of deceleration,
the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u
accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button on the fascia.

This snow mode allows the
vehicle to adapts its strategy
to the conditions of grip
encountered for each of the
two front wheels, on moving off.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to guarantee the best
acceleration possible in relation to the
grip available.
This all terrain m o d e ( m u d ,
wet grass...) allows, when
moving off, considerable
skidding on the wheel with
the least grip to favour
clearing of the mud and regain "grip".
At the same time, the wheel with the
most grip is controlled in such a way as
to pass as much torque as possible.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to respond to the driver’s
requirements as fully as possible. This
sand mode allows little
skidding on the two driving
wheels at the same time to
allow the vehicle to move
forward and limit the risks of
getting stuck in the sand.
Do not use the other modes on sand
as the vehicle may become stuck.
This
ESP mode is calibrated
for a low level of skidding,
based on different conditions
of grip encountered on the
road.
When the ignition is switched off, the
system returns automatically to ESP
mode.
This ESP OFF mode is
o n l y s u i t a b l e f o r s p e c i fi c
conditions encountered when
moving off or at low speed.
This mode is active up to 30 mph
( 5 0 k m / h ) .

EMERGENCY OR
ASSISTANCE CALL
This on-board technology system
allows you to make, depending on the
b u t t o n s e l e c t e d :
- an emergency call to locate your vehicle and immediately summon
emergency assistance,
- an assistance call, in the event of a breakdown, to the dedicated
PEUGEOT assistance services.
These services are subject to
conditions and availability. Consult
a PEUGEOT dealer. Emergency call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on
the emergency call button cancel
the request. The green warning lamp
goes out.
This call is operated by the PEUGEOT
Emergency platform, which receives
the information on the vehicle's location
and can then transmit all the information
necessary to the emergency services. Operating fault
When the ignition is switched on,
the green warning lamp lights up for
approximately 3 seconds to indicate
that the system is operational.
If the orange warning lamp lights up
a n d fl a s h e s w h e n s w i t c h i n g o n t h e
ignition or during use, there is a system
fault.
If the orange warning lamp remains lit,
the back-up battery needs replacing.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Assistance call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
assistance call button cancel the
r e q u e s t . A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h e
cancellation.
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e g r e e n
warning lamp and a voice
m e s s a g e c o n fi r m t h a t a
call is being made to the PEUGEOT
Emergency platform.
The green warning lamp remains lit
( w i t h o u t fl a s h i n g ) w h e n c o m m u n i c a t i o n
is established. It goes out at the end of
the call. In the event of a vehicle
b r e a k d o w n :

call is being made to the PEUGEOT
Assistance services.
In countries where such a platform is
not operational, or if the vehicle cannot
be located by the service, the call is
operated directly by the emergency
s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) .
In the event of a collision
detected by the airbags
computer, and regardless of
any deployment of the airbags,
the emergency call is made
automatically.

Seat belts
SEAT BELTS
Height adjustment
Squeeze the control with the return
and slide the assembly on the driver's
seat side and on the individual
passenger seat side.
The height of the seat belt associated
with the centre seat of the front bench
cannot be adjusted.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
into the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap. Driver's seat belt not fastened
warning light Wherever you are seated in the
vehicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
reel which automatically adjusts the
length of the strap to your size.
D o n o t u s e a c c e s s o r i e s ( c l o t h e s p e g s ,
clips, safety pins, etc.) which permit a
clearance with the seat belt straps.
Ensure that the seat belt is rolled up
correctly after use.
After folding or moving a seat or a rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is
rolled up correctly and that the buckle
is ready to accommodate the tongue.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of any impact, the
pretensioning device may be triggered
b e f o r e a n d i n d e p e n d e n t l y o f i n fl a t i o n
of the air bags. It instantly tightens
the seat belts against the body of the
occupants.
Triggering of the pretensioners is
accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt against the body of the
occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is switched on.
Unfastening
Press the red button.
When the vehicle is started,
this warning light comes on if
the driver has not fastened his
seat belt.
Good practice
The driver must ensure that
passengers use the seat belts correctly
and that they are all strapped in
securely before moving off.

Air bags
Good practice
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
o c c u p a n t s a n d t h e a i r b a g s ( a c h i l d ,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the air bags or injure the
occupants.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the air
bag systems checked.
All work on the air bag system is strictly
forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e P E U G E O T
network.
Even if all of the precautions
mentioned are observed, a risk of
injury or of minor burns to the head,
chest or arms when an air bag is
triggered cannot be ruled out. In fact,
t h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y ( w i t h i n
a f e w m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n
the same time discharging the hot gas
via openings provided for this purpose. Side air bags
Only put recommended covers on the
s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a t i o n o f
the side air bags. Consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r g l u e a n y t h i n g t o t h e s e a t
backs. This could cause injury to the
chest or arms when the side air bag
i n fl a t e s .
Do not sit with the upper part of the
body any nearer to the door than
necessary.
Front air bags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel
by its spokes or resting your hands on
the centre part of the wheel.
Do not allow passengers to place their
feet on the fascia, they risk serious
injury if the air bag is triggered.
Smoke as little as possible as
deployment of the air bags can cause
burns or the risk of injury from a
cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering
wheel or hit it violently.
Air bags only operate when the
ignition is switched on.
This equipment only operates once.
I f a s e c o n d i m p a c t o c c u r s ( d u r i n g t h e
same or a subsequent accident), the
air bag will not operate.
The triggering of an air bag or air bags
is accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but
sensitive individuals may experience
some irritation.
The noise of the detonation may result
in a slight loss of hearing for a short
time.
It is imperative that the passenger
air bag is disarmed if a child seat
is installed facing rearwards. Refer
to the "Children on board" section of
chapter 4.

Air bags
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in
the centre of the steering wheel for the
driver and in the fascia for the front
p a s s e n g e r ( s ) .
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously,
unless the passenger's front air bag
has been disarmed, in the event of a
serious front impact applied to all or
part of the front impact zone A in the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle
on a horizontal plane directed from the
front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n
the front occupant of the vehicle and
the fascia to cushion his forward
movement. Disarming
The passenger's front air bag alone
c a n b e d i s a r m e d :
-
With the ignition switched off ,
insert the key into the passenger air
bag disarming switch
- turn it to the "OFF" position,
- then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
The air bag warning light on the
instrument panel is lit throughout
the period of disarming.
If the two air bag warning lights
are lit continuously, do not install
a rear-facing child seat. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Front air bag fault
To ensure the safety of your
child, it is essential to disarm the
passenger air bag when you install
a rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being killed or seriously
i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e . Reactivation
In the
"OFF" position, the passenger air
bag will not be triggered in the event of
an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON" position
to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure
the safety of your passenger in the event
of an impact.
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked.

Battery
7
BATTERY
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t fi r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
p l e a s e c o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
After changing bulbs, wait
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 m i n u t e s b e f o r e
reconnecting the battery.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery
if the vehicle is not andmto be used for
a p e r i o d o f m o r e t h a n o n e m o n t h .
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they are
c o v e r e d w i t h s u l p h a t e ( w h i t e o r
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , d i s c o n n e c t t h e m
and clean them.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- Connect the red cable to the p o s i t i v e ( + ) t e r m i n a l s o f t h e
two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green o r b l a c k c a b l e t o a n e a r t h p o i n t o n
the broken down vehicle as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ,
-
O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e r u n ,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. A f t e r t h e e n g i n e h a s s t o p p e d , w i t h
t h e k e y i n t h e i g n i t i o n p o s i t i o n , c e r t a i n
f u n c t i o n s ( w i n d s c r e e n w i p e r , e l e c t r i c
windows, courtesy lights, audio
e q u i p m e n t , e t c . ) c a n o n l y b e u s e d f o r a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes, to
p r e v e n t d i s c h a r g i n g o f t h e b a t t e r y .
O n c e t h e t h i r t y m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
a c t i v e f u n c t i o n s a r e p u t o n s t a n d b y
a n d t h e b a t t e r y w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
d i s p l a y .
T o r e s u m e t h e u s e o f t h e s e f u n c t i o n s
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
T h e t i m e a v a i l a b l e w i l l t h e n b e d o u b l e
the time for which the engine was left
running. However, this time will always
b e b e t w e e n fi v e a n d t h i r t y m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.
