Enginepower
Withthefour-wheeldrive,theenginepowerisvariablydistributedtothefrontandrearwheels.Powerdistributionandwheelspeedcompensationbetweenthefrontandrearaxlesisrealisedwithaviscousmultiple-discclutch.
Distributionoftheenginepowerisdependentuponthewheelspeeddifferencebetweenthetwoaxles.Theviscousmultiple-discclutchalwaysdeliverssufficientdrivepowertothefrontwheels(approx.5%to40%)toensureoptimumtractionevenonapoorroadsurface.
IncombinationwiththePorscheStabilityManagement(PSM),four-wheeldriveimproveshandlingandincreasesdrivingstability.

Moistureorroadsaltonbrakesaffectsbraking.Whenthevehicleisdrivenonsaltedroadsforextendedperiods,thebrakesshouldbewasheddownthoroughlyaboutevery2weeks.Anauto-maticcarwashfacilitycannotdothisjobproperly.Brakeswilldryafterafewcautiousbrakeapplica-tions.

–PASM(PorscheActiveSuspensionManagement)isautomaticallychangedtoSportmode,resultinginastiffersuspensionsetup.
–TheTiptronicSswitchestoasportygear-changingmapandshortensthegearshiftingperiods.Gearchangestakeplacefaster.
–PSM(PorscheStabilityManagement)controlissporty.PSMinterventionstakeplacelaterthaninNormalmode.Thedrivercanmaneuverthevehiclewithgreateragilityatitsperformancelimits,withouthavingtodispensewiththeassistanceofPSMinemergencysituations.Thishelpstoachieveoptimallaptimes,particularlyonracecircuitswithadryroadsurface.
–Theelectronicacceleratorpedalreactssooner,andtheengineismoreresponsivetothrottleinputs.WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thisfunctionisactivatedonlyafterthedriverhasbrieflyreleasedtheacceleratorpedal.
–Therpmlimitercharacteristicis“harder”,i.e.theengineisimmediatelythrottledwhenthe
performancelimitsarereached(onlyinmanualselectionmodeforvehicleswithTiptronicS).

SwitchingSportmodeonandoff
PressSPORTbuttoninthecenterconsole.WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thelight-emittingdiodeintheSPORTbuttonislit.
WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thelogoSPORTappearsnexttothedigitalspeedometer.
SwitchingSportmodeonandoffsimultaneouslyactivatesanddeactivatestheSportmodeofthePASM.IftheSportmodeofthePASMwasactivatedwiththePASMbutton,itwillremainon.
Aftertheignitionisswitchedoff,SportmodeisautomaticallyresettoNormalmode.

Donotlettheengineidletowarmup.
