Automaticloweringofthedoorwindows
Ifthedoorwindowsareclosed,theywillbeautomaticallyopenedbyafewmillimeterswhenthedoorsareopenedand,whenthedoorsareclosed,theywillbeclosedagain.Thismakesiteasiertoopenandclosethedoorsandprotectstheseals.
Therefore,youshouldpullthedoorhandleslowlysothatthedoorwindowcanbeloweredbeforethedoorisopened.

Functionoftheairbagsystem
Airbagsareasupplementalsafetysystem.Yourprimaryprotectioncomesfromyoursafetybelts.
Thefrontairbagsaretriggeredduringafrontalcollisionofsufficientforceanddirection.Inthe
eventofasideimpactofcorrespondingforce,thesideairbagontheimpactsideistriggered.
Theinflationprocessgeneratestheamountofgasrequiredtofilltheairbagsatthenecessarypressureinfractionsofasecond.
Airbagshelptoprotecttheheadandupperbody,whilesimultaneouslydampingthemotionofthedriverandpassengerintheimpactdirectionintheeventofafrontalimpactorsideimpact.
Inordertohelpprovideprotectioninseverecollisionswhichcancausedeathandseriousinjury,airbagsmustinflateextremelyrapidly.Suchhighspeedinflationhasanegativebutunavoidablesideeffect,whichisthatitcananddoescauseinjuries,includingfacialandarmabrasions,bruisingandbrokenbones.Youcanhelpminimizesuchinjuriesbyalwayswearingyoursafetybelts.
Therearemanytypesofaccidentsinwhichairbagsarenotexpectedtodeploy.Theseincludeaccidentswheretheairbagswouldprovidenobenefit,suchasarearimpactagainstyourvehicle.Otheraccidentswheretheairbagsaredesignednottodeployarethosewheretheriskofinjuryfromtheairbagdeploymentcouldexceedanyprotectivebenefits,suchasinlowspeedaccidentsorhigherspeedaccidentswherethevehicledeceleratesoveralongertime.Sinceairbagdeploymentdoesnotoccurinallaccidents,thisfurtheremphasizestheneedforyouandyourpassengerstoalwayswearsafetybelts.
Yourvehicleisequippedwithacrashsensinganddiagnosticmodule.Thismodulewillrecordtheuseoftheseatbeltrestraintsystembythedriverandfrontpassengerwhentheairbagsand/orbelttensionerwork.
AdvancedAirbag
Yourvehicleisequippedwithaweightsensingsystemforthepassenger’sseatinaccordancewithU.S.Federal/CanadianMotorVehicleSafetyStandard208.Dependingontheweightactingonthefrontpassenger’sseat,thefrontpassenger’sairbagwillautomaticallybeswitchedonandoff.
Dependingontheangleandforceofimpact,thefrontpassenger’sairbagwhichisactivatedwillbetriggeredduringacollision.
Preconditionforswitchingthefrontpassenger’sairbagonandoff,dependingonweight:
–Vehiclesequippedwithkey-operatedairbagdeactivationdevice:SwitchpositionAUTO.
–Ignitionkeyisinserted.
Seatadjustmentforthefrontpassenger’s
seat
Iftheseatisinanextremeposition(e.g.,thebackrestisincontactwiththerearseat),thebackrestcanwarp.Warpingofthebackrestcanleadtomalfunctions.

Correcttheseatadjustment.Ensurethattheseatisnotjammedandisself-supporting.Ensurethatthebackrestisintheuprightposition.
Donottransportaloadandobjectsintherearfootwellandunderthepassenger’sseat.Iftheloadorobjectsareundertheseat,itcancausemalfunctions.
Iftheweightonthepassenger’sseatisreducedsignificantly,e.g.,bysupportingweightonthearmrest,thepassenger’sairbagcanbeswitchedoff.
Selectanuprightseatposition,anddonotsupportweightonthearmrestsorleanoutofthewindow.Alwayskeepfeetinthefootwellwhiledriving.Donotputfeetonthedashboardortheseatarea.Donotleanagainsttheinsideofthedoororoutsidethewindowwhilethevehicleismoving.
Ifthepassenger’sseatiswarpedsignificantly,amessageisdisplayedontheon-boardcomputer:

Activatingtheautomaticlockingretractor
1.Ifachildrestraintsystemmustbefastenedtothepassenger’sseat,adjustthepassenger’sseatasfarawayfromtheairbagaspossible.
2.Fastenchildseat.
3.Pullthesafetybeltretractorcompletelyout.Atthispointthelockingmechanismisactivated.
4.Insertthesafetybelttongueintothebuckleandmakecertainthatitisproperlylatched.Makenomoreadjustmentstotheseat.
5.Allowthesafetybelttoretractuntilitistightonthechildrestraintsystem.Youmayfurthertightenthebeltbypullingonittoallowmoreofittoretract.Makesurethatexcessiveseatbeltforcesdonotoccurbymovingtheseatwiththechildseatinstalled.
Releasingthesafetybelt
1.Unbucklethesafetybeltlatch.
2.Thenmakecertainthatthebelthasfullyretracted.Atthispointtheautomaticlockingfeaturewillbedisengaged.SeekappropriateadvicefromyourauthorizedPorschedealeraboutthepossibleinstallationofaPorschechildrestraintsystem.
