Belttensioner
Dependingontheforceofanimpact,fastenedsafetybeltsaretightenedinanaccident.
Thebelttensionersaretriggeredby:
–Front,sideandrearimpactsofsufficientseverity.
–Vehiclerollover.
Note
Thebelttensionersystemcanbetriggeredonlyonce;thesystemmustbereplacedafterward.
Ifthereisafaultinthebelt-tensionersystem,theairbagwarninglightlightsup.
Workmaybeperformedonthebelt-tensionersystemonlybyanauthorizedPorschedealer.Smokeisreleasedwhenthebelttensionersaretriggered.Thisdoesnotindicateafireinthevehicle.
SafetyBeltWarningSystem
Anaudio-visualwarningsystemisinterconnect-edwiththedriver’ssafetybelt.
Everytimetheignitionisturnedon,thegongwillsoundforabout6secondstoreminddriverandpassengertobuckleup.Inaddition,thegongwillsoundforapprox.90secondsifthevehiclespeedexceeds15mph(24km/h).Thesafetybeltwarninglightintheinstrumentpanelandon-board
computerwillgooffassoonasthedriverhasbuckledup.
Inertiareelretractor
Thecombinationlap/shoulderbeltwithinertiareellockingmechanismadjustsautomaticallytoyoursizeandmovementsaslongasthepullonthebeltisslow.
Rapiddecelerationduringhardbrakingoracollisionlocksthebelt.Thebeltwillalsolockwhenyoudriveupordownasteephillorinasharpcurve,otherwise,theshoulderbeltwillnotinhibityourupperbodymovement.
Fasteningthesafetybelt
Assumeacomfortablesittingposition.
Pleaseobservethechapter”SEATPOSITION”onpage40.
Theshoulderbeltshouldalwaysrestonyourupperbody.Theshoulderbeltshouldneverbewornbehindyourbackorunderyourarm.
Graspbeltandpullthebeltinacontinuousslowmotionacrossyourchestandlap.
Insertbelttongueintobuckleoninboardsideofseat.Pushdownuntilitsecurelylockswithanaudibleclick.Pullthebelttocheck.
Pullshouldersectiontomakesurebeltfitssnuglyacrossthepelvis.
Beltsshouldfitsnuglyacrossthepelvisandchest.Makesurethereisnoslackinthebelt.
Releasingthesafetybelt
Pushinreleasebutton(arrow)onbuckle.Belttonguewillspringoutofbuckle.
Toreleasealatchedbelt,leanbacktotakethebodypressureoffthebelt.
Tostorelap/shoulderbelt,allowthebelttoretractasyouguidethelatchtoitsstowedposition.

Smalladultpassengers
MakesurethatthePASSENGERAIRBAGOFFindicatorlampdoesnotlightup.
Danger!
Riskofseriouspersonalinjuryordeathduetothepassenger’sairbagnottriggering.Whentheignitionisonandthesmalladultpassengerisseatedonthepassenger’sseat,theindicatorlamp“PASSENGERAIRBAGOFF”mustbeoff.Ifthe“PASSENGERAIRBAGOFF”indicatorlamplightsup,itcouldindicateafaultinthesystem.Inthiscase:
Donotcarryapassengerinthepassenger’sseat.
HavethefaultremediedatthenearestauthorizedPorschedealer.
Automaticlockingretractor
Thesafetybeltforthepassengerisequippedwithanautomaticlockingretractorforsecuringthechildrestraintsystem.Whenactivated,thisretractorallowsyoutosecurelyfastenthechildrestraintsysteminplacesothatinadvertentmovementswillnotoccur.

Danger!
Riskofseriouspersonalinjuryordeathtothechild,whenexcessiveforceisactingonthepassenger’sseatduetotheseatbelt.Insuchcases,thepassenger’sairbagcanbeswitchedonunintentionally.
Afterfasteningthechildrestraintsystem,donotadjusttheseat.
ChecktheconditionofthepassengerairbagsystemshownbytheindicatorlampAinthecentralconsole.
Activatingtheautomaticlockingretractor
1.Ifachildrestraintsystemmustbefastenedtothepassenger’sseat,adjustthepassenger’sseatasfarawayfromtheairbagaspossible.
2.Fastenchildseat.
3.Pullthesafetybeltretractorcompletelyout.Atthispointthelockingmechanismisactivated.
4.Insertthesafetybelttongueintothebuckleandmakecertainthatitisproperlylatched.Makenomoreadjustmentstotheseat.
5.Allowthesafetybelttoretractuntilitistightonthechildrestraintsystem.Youmayfurthertightenthebeltbypullingonittoallowmoreofittoretract.Makesurethatexcessiveseatbeltforcesdonotoccurbymovingtheseatwiththechildseatinstalled.
Releasingthesafetybelt
1.Unbucklethesafetybeltlatch.
2.Thenmakecertainthatthebelthasfullyretracted.Atthispointtheautomaticlockingfeaturewillbedisengaged.SeekappropriateadvicefromyourauthorizedPorschedealeraboutthepossibleinstallationofaPorschechildrestraintsystem.
