RELEARN REMOTE KEY
To access this display, the vehicle
must be in P (Park). This display
allows you to match Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitters to your
vehicle. This procedure will erase
all previously learned transmitters.
Therefore, they must be relearned
as additional transmitters.
To match an RKE transmitter to
your vehicle:
1. Press the trip odometer reset
stem until RELEARN REMOTE
KEY displays.
2. Press and hold the trip odometer
reset stem until REMOTE KEY
LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
3. Press and hold the lock and
unlock buttons on the rst
transmitter at the same time
for about 15 seconds.
On vehicles with memory recall
seats, the rst transmitter
learned will match driver 1 and
the second will match driver 2.
A chime will sound indicating that
the transmitter is matched.4. To match additional transmitters
at this time, repeat Step 3.
Each vehicle can have a
maximum of eight transmitters
matched to it.
5. To exit the programming mode,
you must cycle the key to
LOCK/OFF.
UNITS
To access this display, the vehicle
must be in P (Park). Press the
trip odometer reset stem until UNITS
displays. This display allows you
to select between English or Metric
units of measurement. Once in
this display, press and hold the
trip odometer reset stem to select
between ENGLISH or METRIC
units. All of the vehicle information
will then be displayed in the unit
of measurement selected.DISPLAY LANGUAGE
To access this display, the vehicle
must be in P (Park). This display
allows you to select the language
in which the DIC messages will
appear. To select a language:
1. Press the trip odometer reset
stem until DISPLAY LANGUAGE
displays.
2. Continue to press and hold the
trip odometer reset stem to scroll
through all of the available
languages.
The available languages are
ENGLISH (default), FRANCAIS
(French), ESPANOL (Spanish),
and NO CHANGE.
3. Once the desired language
is displayed, release the trip
odometer reset stem to set
your choice.

ENGINE HOT A/C
(Air Conditioning) OFF
This message displays when
the engine coolant becomes
hotter than the normal operating
temperature. SeeEngine Coolant
Temperature Gage on page 3-38.
To avoid added strain on a hot
engine, the air conditioning
compressor automatically turns
off. When the coolant temperature
returns to normal, the air conditioning
compressor turns back on. You can
continue to drive your vehicle.
If this message continues to appear,
have the system repaired by your
dealer/retailer as soon as possible
to avoid damage to the engine.
ENGINE OVERHEATED IDLE
ENGINE
Notice:If you drive your vehicle
while the engine is overheating,
severe engine damage may occur.
If an overheat warning appears
on the instrument panel cluster
and/or DIC, stop the vehicle as
soon as possible. Do not increase
the engine speed above normal
idling speed. SeeEngine
Overheating on page 5-23for
more information.
This message displays when the
engine coolant temperature is too
hot. Stop and allow the vehicle to
idle until it cools down. SeeEngine
Coolant Temperature Gage on
page 3-38.

place in an emergency.
ENGINE OVERHEATED STOP
ENGINE
Notice:If you drive your vehicle
while the engine is overheating,
severe engine damage may occur.
If an overheat warning appears
on the instrument panel cluster
and/or DIC, stop the vehicle
as soon as possible. SeeEngine
Overheating on page 5-23for
more information.
This message displays and a
continuous chime sounds if the
engine cooling system reaches
unsafe temperatures for operation.
Stop and turn off the vehicle as
soon as it is safe to do so to avoid
severe damage. This message
clears when the engine has cooled
to a safe operating temperature.

ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED
This message displays and a chime
sounds when the cooling system
temperature gets too hot and the
engine further enters the engine
coolant protection mode. SeeEngine
Overheating on page 5-23for further
information.
This message also displays
when the vehicle’s engine power
is reduced. Reduced engine power
can affect the vehicle’s ability to
accelerate. If this message is
on, but there is no reduction in
performance, proceed to your
destination. The performance
may be reduced the next time the
vehicle is driven. The vehicle may
be driven at a reduced speed while
this message is on, but acceleration
and speed may be reduced. Anytime
this message stays on, the vehicle
should be taken to your dealer/
retailer for service as soon as
possible.
FUEL LEVEL LOW
This message displays and a
chime sounds if the fuel level is
low. Refuel as soon as possible.

HEATED WASH (Washer)
FLUID SYSTEM OFF
This message displays when
you manually turn off the heated
windshield washer uid system or
when the system automatically turns
off. See “Heated Windshield Washer”

This message clears itself after
10 seconds.
HEATING WASH (Washer)
FLUID WASH (Washer) WIPES
PENDING
This message displays when
you turn on the heated windshield
washer uid system. See “Heated
Windshield Washer” under
Windshield Washer on page 3-8
for more information.
HOOD OPEN
On some models, this message
displays and a chime sounds if
the hood is not fully closed. Stop and
turn off the vehicle, check the hood
for obstructions, and close the hood
again. Check to see if the message
still appears on the DIC.
ICE POSSIBLE DRIVE
WITH CARE
This message displays when the
outside air temperature is cold
enough to create icy road conditions.
Adjust your driving accordingly.

Player Error:There are disc LOAD
or disc EJECT problems.
It is very hot. When the
temperature returns to normal,
the CD should play.
The road is very rough. When
the road becomes smoother,
the CD should play.
The CD is dirty, scratched, wet,
or upside down.
The air is very humid. If so, wait
about an hour and try again.
There could have been a problem
while burning the CD.
The label could be caught in the
CD player.
If the CD is not playing correctly
for any other reason, try a known
good CD.
If any error occurs repeatedly or if
an error cannot be corrected, contact
your dealer/retailer. If the radio
displays an error message, write it
down and provide it to your dealer/
retailer when reporting the problem.
Using the DVD Player
The DVD player can be controlled
by the buttons on the remote control,
the RSA system, or by the buttons
on the radio faceplate. See “Remote
Control”, underRear Seat
Entertainment (RSE) System on
page 3-114andRear Seat Audio
(RSA) on page 3-123for more
information.
The DVD player is only compatible
with DVDs of the appropriate region
code that is printed on the jacket of
most DVDs.
The DVD slot of the radio is
compatible with most audio
CDs, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-Video,
DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/
RW media along with MP3 and
WMA formats.

the video screen or the radio, see

under,Rear Seat Entertainment
(RSE) System on page 3-114and
“DVD Radio Error Messages” in
this section for more information.Playing a DVDf(Tune):Turn to change tracks
on a CD or DVD, to manually tune

sREV (Fast Reverse):Press to
quickly reverse the DVD at ve times
the normal speed. The radio displays
the elapsed time while in fast
reverse. To stop fast reversing,
press again. This button may not
work when the DVD is playing
the copyright information or the
previews.
\FWD (Fast Forward):Press
to fast forward the DVD. The radio
displays the elapsed time and fast
forwards ve times the normal
speed. To stop fast forwarding,
press again. This button may not
work when the DVD is playing
the copyright information or the
previews.
Z(Eject):Press to eject a DVD.
If the DVD is ejected, but not
removed, the player automatically
pulls it back in after 15 seconds.If loading and reading of a DVD
cannot be completed, because of an
unknown format, etc., and the disc
fails to eject, press and hold for more
than ve seconds to force the disc
to eject.
DVD-V (Video) Display Buttons
Once a DVD-V is inserted, the radio
display menu shows several icons.
Press the pushbuttons located under
any desired icon during DVD
playback. See the icon list below
for more information.
The rear seat passenger can
navigate the DVD-V menus and
controls through the remote control.
See “Remote Control”, underRear
Seat Entertainment (RSE) System
on page 3-114for more information.
The Video Screen automatically
turns on when the DVD-V is inserted
into the DVD slot.
r/j(Play/Pause):Press either
the play or pause icon displayed
on the radio system, to toggle
between pausing or restarting
playback of a DVD.
If the forward arrow is showing
on display, the system is in
pause mode.
If the pause icon is showing
on display, the system is in
playback mode.
If the DVD screen is off, press the
play button to turn the screen on.
Some DVDs begin playing after
the previews have nished, although
there could be a delay of up to
30 seconds. If the DVD does
not begin playing the movie
automatically, press the pushbutton
located under the play/pause icon
displayed on the radio. If the DVD
still does not play, refer to the
on-screen instructions, if available.

Root Directory
The root directory of the CD-R
or CD-RW is treated as a folder.
If the root directory has compressed
audio les, the directory displays
as the CD label. All les contained
directly under the root directory are
accessed prior to any root directory
folders. However, playlists (Px) are
always accessed before root folders
or les.
If a disc contains both
uncompressed CD audio (.CDA)
and MP3/WMA les, a folder
under the root directory called
CD accesses all of the CD audio
tracks on the disc.Empty Directory or Folder
If a root directory or a folder exists
somewhere in the le structure that
contains only folders/subfolders and
no compressed les directly beneath
them, the player advances to the
next folder in the le structure that
contains compressed audio les.
The empty folder does not display.
No Folder
When the CD-R or CD-RW disc
contains only compressed les,
the les are located under the
root folder. The next and previous
folder function does not display on
a CD-R or CD-RW disc that was
recorded without folders or playlists.
When the CD-R or CD-RW
disc contains only playlists and
compressed audio les, but no
folders, all les are located under
the root folder. The folder down and
up buttons search playlists (Px) rst
and then goes to the root folder.Order of Play
Tracks recorded to the CD-R or
CD-RW disc are played in the
following order:
Play begins from the rst track
in the rst playlist and continues
sequentially through all tracks in
each playlist. When the last track
of the last playlist has played, play
continues from the rst track of
the rst playlist.
Play begins from the rst track in
the rst folder and continues
sequentially through all tracks in
each folder. When the last track of
the last folder has played, play
continues from the rst track of
the rst folder.
When play enters a new folder,
the display does not automatically
show the new folder name unless
the folder mode is chosen as the
default display. The new track name
displays.

RDM (Random):With the random
setting, MP3/WMA les on the
CD-R or CD-RW can be listened to
in random, rather than sequential
order.
To play MP3/WMA les from the
CD-R or CD-RW in random order,
press the pushbutton positioned
under the RDM label until Random
Current Disc displays. Press the
same pushbutton again to turn off
random play.
h(Music Navigator):Use
the music navigator feature to play
MP3/WMA les on the CD-R or
CD-RW in order by artist or album.
Press the pushbutton located below
the music navigator label. The player
scans the disc to sort the les by
artist and album ID3 tag information.
It could take several minutes to scan
the disc depending on the numberof MP3/WMA les recorded to the
CD-R or CD-RW disc. The radio can
begin playing while it is scanning the
disc in the background. When the
scan is nished, the CD-R or CD-RW
begins playing again.
Once the disc has scanned, the
player defaults to playing MP3/WMA
les in order by artist. The current
artist playing is shown on the second
line of the display between the
arrows. Once all songs by that artist
are played, the player moves to the
next artist in alphabetical order on
the CD-R or CD-RW and begins
playing MP3/WMA les by that artist.
To listen to MP3/WMA les by
another artist, press the pushbutton
located below either arrow button.
The player goes to the next or
previous artist in alphabetical order.
Continue pressing either button until
the desired artist is displayed.To change from playback by artist
to playback by album, press the
pushbutton located below the Sort
By label. From the sort screen, push
one of the buttons below the album
button. Press the pushbutton below
the back label to return to the main
music navigator screen. Now the
album name is displayed on the
second line between the arrows and
songs from the current album begins
to play. Once all songs from that
album are played, the player moves
to the next album in alphabetical
order on the CD-R or CD-RW and
begins playing MP3/WMA les from
that album.
To exit music navigator mode, press
the pushbutton below the Back label
to return to normal MP3/WMA
playback.

Using an MP3 (Radio
with CD and DVD Player)
MP3/WMA CD-R or
CD-RW Disc
Compressed Audio or Mixed
Mode Discs
The radio also plays discs that
contain both uncompressed CD
audio (.CDA les) and MP3/WMA
les depending on which slot the disc
is loaded into. By default the radio
reads only the uncompressed audio
(.CDA) and ignores the MP3/WMA
les on the DVD deck. On the CD
deck, pressing the CAT (category)
button toggles between compressed
and uncompressed audio format,
the default being the uncompressed
format (.CDA).MP3/WMA Format
To create an MP3/WMA disc on a
personal computer:
Make sure the MP3/WMA les
are recorded on a CD-R or
CD-RW disc.
Do not mix standard audio and
MP3/WMA les on one disc.
The CD player (lower slot) is
able to read and play a maximum
combination of 512 les and
folders. The DVD player (upper
slot) is able to read 255 folders,
15 playlists and 40 sessions.
Create a folder structure that
makes it easy to nd songs
while driving. Organize songs
by albums using one folder for
each album. Each folder or album
should contain 18 songs or less.
Avoid subfolders. The system can
support up to eight subfolders
deep, however, keep the total
number of folders to a minimum inorder to reduce the complexity
and confusion in trying to locate a
particular folder during playback.
Make sure playlists have a .m3u,
.wpl or .pls extension as other le
extensions might not work.
Minimize the length of the le,
folder or playlist names. Long le,
folder, or playlist names, or a
combination of a large number of
les and folders, or playlists could
cause the player to be unable to
play up to the maximum number
of les, folders, playlists, or
sessions. To play a large number
of les, folders, playlists, or
sessions, minimize the length of
the le, folder, or playlist name.
Long names also take up more
space on the display, potentially
getting cut off.
Finalize the audio disc before
burning it. Trying to add music to
an existing disc could cause the
disc not to function in the player.

h(Music Navigator):Use the
music navigator feature to play
MP3/WMA les on the CD-R or
CD-RW in order by artist or album.
Press the pushbutton located below
the music navigator label. The player
scans the disc to sort the les by
artist and album ID3 tag information.
It could take several minutes to scan
the disc depending on the number
of MP3/WMA les recorded to the
CD-R or CD-RW disc.
To cancel music navigator while
the player is scanning, press the
pushbutton located below the music
navigator label or eject the disc.

playing. The CD or DVD remains
inside the radio for future listening
or viewing entertainment.
DVD/CD AUX (Auxiliary):Press
this button to cycle through DVD,
CD, or Auxiliary when listening to
the radio. The DVD/CD text label
and a message showing track or
chapter number displays when
a disc is in either slot. Press this
button again and the system
automatically searches for an
auxiliary input device, such
as a portable audio player.
