9 Nm is achieved, as shown on the key.
• Distribute the load evenly. Each cross bar may carry 50 kg if
loaded uniformly over the full length. The permissible roof load
(including the carrier system) of 75 kg and the permissible gross
vehicle weight must not be exceeded

• When carrying heavy or large objects on the roof, bear in mind
that the vehicle handling changes due to the displacement of the
centre of gravity and the increased area exposed to the wind.
Driving style and speed must be adapted to allow for this.

• Remove the rubber seal⇒ fig. 171Bon the eyelet upwards.
• Take the wheel spanner
⇒ fig. 171Cfrom the vehicle tools.
Place it as far as it will go over the bolt. Hold in this position and
press the locking ring
⇒ fig. 171Ddown.
• Turn the box spanner
Cto the left until it is supporting the
spare wheel, which issuspended from a steel cable
⇒ fig. 171.
• Squeeze the retainer lightly (arrows
1) and at the same time
fold the cross piece in the direction shown 2⇒ fig. 172. Now
guide the retainer through the central opening in the spare
wheel.

Installing spare wheel
• Stand the wheel behind the vehicle, as shown in the fig. 173.• Guide the retainer from the inner side of the wheel through the
spare wheel central opening.
• Fold the cross piece in the opposite to arrow
⇒ fig. 1722.
• Push the spare wheel under the vehicle with the outer side facing
down.
• Turn the bolt in the luggage compartment floor clockwise with
the wheel spanner to lift the wheel into the spare wheel bracket
under the vehicle. E En

rubber seal and fold the cover back.

General notes
• New tyres do not give maximum grip straight away and should
therefore be run in at moderate speeds and a careful style of
driving for about the first 100 km. This will help to make the tyres
last longer.
